Dev of A Craft Of Mine here!
I do admit the game can be pretty goofy at times xdd, good thing about it is the story allows me to virtually add whatever I want. Infact A Craft Of Mine was initially an idea for a mod, but then made it a game to experiment with horror enemies which are more focused on a "minigame each" so I could maybe add that to my other game After The Curtain Call. However I may extend the game sometime if I'm bored or something idk
As a spanish minecraft fan, I do know Killercreeper and being mentioned in a video where he is mentioned to has to be one of the highlights of my life xd, I loved his videos explaining how to do map stuff.
That's all from me. Anyone check out my other horror games if you want to, many of them are of better quality than ACOM.

As a modded Minecraft player, I can confirm the scariest part is installing the version appropriate 'Too Many Items'.

THIS IS THE "CHIPOTE CHIYON" THE SOUND IS NOT FROM CARTOONS BUT IT COMES FROM A TV SHOW CALLED "EL CHAPULIN COLORADO" AND IT IS ABSOLUTE PEAK, THE SOUND IT PLAYS IS THE SOUND EFFECT THEY USED IN THAT SHOW (AND OTHER SHOWS BY THE SAME CREATOR) EVERY TIME SOMEONE GOT HIT WITH ANYTHING, AND I MEAN ANYTHING FROM A PUNCH TO A BASEBALL BAT OR THIS WEAPON, IT WAS THIS SOUND ALWAYS.
I SWEAR I HAD THIS VIDEO IN THE BACKGROUND AND THE WHIPLASH I GOT FROM THE SOUND BEING FROM THERE IS... FUCKING AWESOME, LITERALLY MEXICAN NOSTALGIA

"From The Fog" got me back into playing Minecraft on PC again, hands down my favorite mod.

The Squeaky Mallet did that hit noise because it's a reference to El Chapulin Colorado from Chespirito, the same person who made El Chavo del 8. His signature hammer was called "El Chipote Chillón" (the squeaky mallet) and in both El Chavo and his series everytime someone got hit by anything, that was the sound that played :)

A really good Herobrine mod to try is From The Fog. It adds effects that are very accurate to the original posts. Its for forge and fabric and even comes in datapack form if you dont want to use a loader for it.

To note, as someone who's used the datapack - as is the nature with DPs, you don't get amazing gameplay options. Herobrine is an armor stand with a Herobrine player head and can really only spawn in chunks before disappearing. It also spawns Redstone torches and signs. The mod version is far better.
I still remember the fact that, when I was younger, my mom and I gaslit my sister into thinking Herobrine was in our world. I'd wait for her to leave the game and go to her room and I'd edit the world with some stereotypical Herobrine stuff, you know, a summoner, stripped trees, lava pools, the works. My mom never said a word about what I did, so she really helped sell the illusion. God, I'm still proud of myself for that.

Minecraft's atmosphere is honestly so good for horror; I had always been focused on Herobrine-related Minecraft horror content, so this nice look at other fun maps and mods is awesome. :)
Nothing scares the bejesus out of someone like a sound in Minecraft you don't recognize.

You forgot the S+ tier horror mod: Lycanite's Mobs. Remember all the terrifying creatures in RLCraft that were one of the main reasons people were scared to play? That was lycanite's mobs, a modpack that adds plenty of high-poly monsters with varying levels of scary to them as well as a plethora of new tool parts used in a unique crafting station to make some really interesting pieces of gear.
Love the mod, can't believe you skipped it.

So, fun fact!
The Squeaky Mallet might be a reference to the sitcom El Chapulín Colorado, with the main character named El Chapulín Colorado, created and starring the famous Mexican comedian: Roberto Gómez Bolaños, A.k.a Chespirito, who passed away at the age 85 years old, in November 28, 2014 (God bless his soul).
He was famous in Mexico and Brazil, with many of his shows and characters, the most famous of them being El Chapulín Colorado, and the great and funny, El Chavo del Ocho.
The Bell-like noise is because whenever someone was hit by whatever (like someone being slapped, or punched, or hit the Chipote Chillón [Which the Squeaky Mallet is a reference of]) that bell-like sound rang, as Comic Relief.
In terms of minecraft "horror" mods, you should check scape n run parasites and from the fog. Two of my favourite horror mods which can make game at least a little bit creepy
S&R parasites is only scary on the first two playthroughs using it, from the fog is terrifying 98% of time
The Cave Dweller mods as well.

Every single video toadbup makes on a horror game just makes the horror game or subject so mucu more funny and non-scary than its supposed to be.
I love how the first think you do when attacked by a monster is skin it alive and steal it's identity.
I rememberd watching these horror maps especially with herobrine and thinking he was gonna poses me and or kill me.
The random fires in the caves of Alpha were amusing, especially when no sources were around to cause the fire.
Aw come on man. There are plenty of scary mods! Cave Dweller, Scape and Run Parasites, From the Fog, From Another World. They are all fun and spooky.

@@mosshivenetwork117 Weeping Angels is a good mod, the 1.12 one is kind of annoying, but the new updated one is absolutely horrifying
16:18 actually theres an entirely different genre for these "modified cursed minecraft clients", most of them are modified versions of minecraft alpha
So something i've noticed about indie horror games from new creators are that they don't quite get how to do backtracking. A lot of the time, it feels like it's just there to extend the game's run time. Something you should always strive to do is make areas you have to backtrack to feel different in some way. For example, a hallway that was once safe now has some kind of entitly starting back at you from the end of the hall. Sure, there might be something new behind a locked door that can be opened, but that doesn't mean that the trek to the locked door has to be empty. Switch it up a bit! add a new complication that wasn't there before
If you’re gonna do a part two, you should include a map called scary blocks lab. It has a lot of good story building and it is a horror map, but it’s one of the tamer ones.
Also, it includes actual gameplay instead of just being relied on horror elements.
A Craft Of Mine is basically (good) mascot horror elements with Minecraft textures, it looks really neat
If you want a more subtle version of Error 422 but equally terrifying, check out the mod From The Fog. Honestly the only mod or anything Minecraft related that was able to creep me out
There are horror mods, but most are underrated. Alas.

I really miss this old modded horror server called TerrorCraft. It was so good, and it shut down and I don’t know what happened:/ it’s on technic launcher but the server doesn’t work
Finally some good horror games, like "The Blood Man" still waiting on that sequel.

Man, the moment you mentioned adventure maps, my mind immediately went to the Slenderman Mansion map(s? Can'R remember if there were more than one). I spent so much time as a kid watching my favorite youtubers play through it... In hindsight having Slenderman just be an Enderman with a different texture pack was slightly silly, but I was like 9 so that shit was terrifying to me lmao

Killercreeper55 being mentioned took me off guard, I absolutely loved watching his videos and people playing his maps when I was younger
Err422 has a fin concept, but executed too...bluntly? Like sure downloading it you already know its gonna be a horror game, but imagine the first few days in the game or hours of playtime are normal. Then it adds subtle things, moving inventory slots or forcing you to drop an item, randomly opening/cloaing doors (somewhat like Into the Fog) and the longer you play the worse it gets. Slow burn, imho, works better then upfront 'horror'

Beware is an awesome Polish horror map with FULL VOICE ACTING that you should really check out! There’s an official English version which is translated pretty well, although the voice acting is significantly worse (due to the creators’ nationality). The first part is pretty basic, but Beware 2 Enchanted Edition is one of the best!

the Herobrine mod is so nostalgic to me, i remember seeing a brazilian youtuber named "Venom Extreme" playing it and couldnt make it into the end
herobrine being so popular is funny if you know the old original story where its revealed he's notch's dead brother
I downloaded the herobrine mod as a kid and it left me horrified to the point that I only played on my Wii for months out of fear, but now I’m not super scared of him but the idea of a mysterious entity existing in your game and stalking you in the shadows is a bit unsettling.

It's a similar idea to the corrupted minecraft version, but one that - and as a ToadBup fan I know you're perceptive so you may have spotted this - imagines Minecraft as an OG Playstation game, some kind of "lost prototype" type beat. It seems up your alley, and I think it would make for a cool video!
