"Faith of our Fathers" is a Catholic hymn, written in 1849 by Frederick William Faber in memory of the Catholic Martyrs from the time of the establishment of the Church of England by Henry VIII and Elizabeth." (Wijkipedia). Faber was an Anglican priest who converted to the Roman Catholic Church and as a Catholic priest founded the Oratorians.
We used to sing these hymns all the time at school.
I just had “Faith of Our Fathers” sung at my father’s funeral. All of us Catholics must remember the hardships and strifes our forefathers went through to give us our Catholic faith. May the whole Church be united with our lost brethren under God one day!

❤❤❤❤
I love these old hymns of my youth they are beautiful Amen
Two of my favorite Albums: 'Faith of my Fathers, Classic Religious Anthems of Ireland, Vol. I', and, '(ibid or ditto)' 'Vol. II'. I am glad The Religious joined their blessedness of voice to the resounding hymns of mankind, they and in light, the Angels sang beautifully, as Angel wings move quietly and with a glorious hymn.
You, Darlene Schneck, are going to "have to be good".
Opera Tenor, Frank Peterson sings the last of the (unknown named) hymn softly as Opera Soprano, Regina Nathan sang in the last three words of a previous hymn.
Religious joined blessedness of
what Beautiful Voice, s lovely singing ❤️ ❤❤,
Brilliant. Bring back the old Catholic hymns. So inspiring Inc the organ.
This hymn was always after our walk in the corpus Christie procession faith of our fathers still brings tears to my eyes❤️❤️❤️
I wish this show was on RUclips when my late wife was alive. We were married on 25 March 2003. She died 20 months ago. It felt then, and still feels like a spear through my heart. Every day, every hour, every moment I miss her. I tried to take my own life so that I could be with her. I have come to realise that only God AND GOD ALONE has that right. My late wife loved all things Irish. This video she would have loved, and she would have watched it every day; as do I, now.
Please pray for her that the angels may take her to Our Blessed Lord in Heaven. Pray also for me that I may find solace and strength; and that, in the Lord's good time, they take me to be by her side.
Holy God we praise Thy Name. Lord of all we bow before Thee.
Lo, I put my trust in Thee. Never, Lord, abandon me.
Ave Maria. Gratia Plena. Dominus Tecum.
David, I am so sorry to hear of your dear wife's passing. I am glad this video has given you comfort. I had found it in my uncle's pile of videotapes when he went into assisted living, and I digitized it in the hope that it would mean something to someone. God meant it for you in your time of sorrow. I will indeed keep you in my prayers. As Corrie ten Boom said long ago, "there is no pit so deep that God's love is not deeper still." He walks with you in your grief and pain. One day you shall see your dear wife again, and in the meantime, know you are loved and needed here.
David, I am so sorrowful for your loss. But for those of faith , my friend, the separation is only temporary. Have faith and cherish your memories with your dear one.
Bishop Sheen said that when a spouse is lost the remaining spouse has a heart not just broken but 1/2 of it is missing.
David, please offer your suffering to the Sorrowful and Immaculate Heart of Mary for the conversion of souls. Unite yourself to her, David, and she will give you consolation that no other purely human creature can.
Always pray for your dear wife's soul. God's ways are not men's ways.
I will include you and your dear departed one in the Holy Rosary this evening.
May the hope and the love of the Sacred Heart of Jesus comfort you always.
God will give you the strength to go on until he alls you and you and your beloved wife are together again May she rest in peace God bless prayers and love from England 🌹🙏
Exactly. It's God's choice and made you a better person and to be led to learn His truth.
All that is gold does not glitter; not all who wander are lost; the old that is strong does not wither; and the deepest roots are not reached by the frost...
Here is boon for your existence in this space and time, brother...
However beautiful the memories...they pale to their future potential;
She is not lost, and neither should you feel hopeless;
Iron sharpens iron and adversity matures us in a very ironic way...aging, is not for the weak hearted, my friend;
FINALLY, HOLD FAST... this winter of your discontent has not, and will not reach the verdant essence of yourself...
Love to you, and encouragement...your words about your late wife lifts me up this beautiful morning in the Ozarks along a meandering creek...in November, not yet winter, but, O... so close...
Brings me back in time .lovely
This brings back fond memories of my youth when we sang such wonderful hymns.
what wonderful memories this brings back to me ,i remeber as a small boy ,walking in the prosession for st peters church in drogheda to the next parish for benediction, care free days ,indeed God bless them all such fond memories.
Beautiful Beautiful !! The best of Ireland. Rest in peace Frank.
These have made my day, from an 80 yr old😂
I was reading an article in Ireland Own this morning about Frank Patterson’s life enjoyed selection of songs and his commentary about songs and hymns you never hear on any radio programme, well done organisers of this facility, Joe Ryan 24:43
Absolutely delightful and wonderfully nostalgic !! It made me sad that these beautiful hymns of praise have been relegated to the archives. Everybody loved them. Thank you for the joy of watching.
I was lucky to hear Frank Patterson live 3 times. In 1985, 1993, and shortly before he died in 2000. He truly was Ireland's golden tenor!
Gorgeous music most worthy of God's ear!
Remembering "Faith of Our Fathers" which first aired as part of KPBS San Diego's December 1997 Membership Campaign, Circa November 30, 1997!!
Today is 2023 and in the Ireland of today this concert would never happen. The new church of work all with its bishops and cardinals (media and politicians) have destroyed the faith of our fathers. But they haven’t quenched the Flame because my God is far more Loving then their cancel culture and their climate cult. GOD BLESS IRELAND and maybe the spirit of St Patrick is still with us banishing the Snakes
Lovely
I love Frank Patterson and I love the way Ireland presents great sacred music and traditional music as well. Thank you so much for putting this up. I never saw this concert before. I think that many outside of Ireland do not realize that Ireland has great classically trained singers and musicians. And this is a nation of just under 5 million people! Frank Patterson died in 2000 (5 October 1938 - 10 June 2000) and, imagine, he sang in this concert only 3 years before he died. I was so fortunate to hear him in New York just a few years earlier. He was simply wonderful, heard live.
I heard him a number of times over the years in New York, twice in Carnegie Hall and his Irish extravaganza at Radio City Hall, plus a few concerts at Holy Trinity High School. He was fabulous and also a wonderful person. So sad he was taken from us so soon......I can't believe it's been over 20 years!
Used to present....
I love this song thy sing this so at my husband funeral. ,judy dobbins
This album resonates with English speaking Catholics everywhere! Thanks for posting the entire album! I looked for it everywhere!
Absolutely wonderful concert with such quality of music. Love it
Brilliant from start to finish.
Thank you for posting this. I have the CD but never saw the whole thing live. Truly marvelous!
Oh wow! So sorry I didn't appreciate him in his lifetime :( Thanks so much for putting this up, Darlene. Makes me feel quite emotional :) Powerful. God bless you. Naomi
You're most welcome, and thank you for commenting!
I have been listing to Frank Patterson all my life I had all his tapes back in the 80&90 my late husband would listen to them night after night Presedent Donald Trump loved his singing as did his parents
@@annedorian1562 I wish my taste in music had been a bit more refined back then. In the 70s my mom used to play a few songs on the piano like Loch Lomond and The Grandfather's Clock. My sister was a beautiful soprano and trained for Jury's Cabaret in Dublin. Trained more in the US. Lovely to see Irish singers and musicians appreciated abroad. I'm learning the harp now. Music is a really beautiful gift and I hope its a consolation for you Anne. Songs can be so evocative.
OOps! Reading that looks like I'm saying my mom's piano playing wasn't very refined! No, my taste started out refined and went a bit off in my teens and came back again with the help of my father-in-law, thanks be to God!
Fantastic!
Thank you very much for uploading.
