I love supermarkets in other countries! It is exciting to see so many Norwegian foods for the first time.
going to the grocery store while traveling is one of my favorite things too!!
Isn't it a bit propaganda-like, how we are told plastic shopping bags are bad for the environment but almost everything that comes packaged in a store is in plastic? I mean, yes! Plastic really is bad for the environment, but if we were worried, wouldn't we demand corporations find an alternative to all their plastic packaging?
Very true
It gets complicated when you’re liable for tampering (meds/food).
I wish that some of them would change their packaging. The plastic net bags that oranges come in look like something that would be pretty dangerous for fish, if they get in the water. I've been keeping the net part of the bags to to use inside something, like a blanket but it would be easier if they would just change their packaging.
I reused every plastic bag that came into my house because they were free. Now, in my part of Canada (BC) we don't get any of those plastic shopping bags anymore because they are illegal, so I have to buy kitchen catchers. I used to just have to buy the big garbage bags.
If everyone else had been reusing those bags too then maybe they would have noticed that actually they do break down over time. This whole thing about plastic shopping bags not breaking down is a myth. I used some to store things in and I kept having to replace them because they were breaking down.
I totally agree. This is why I don't buy fruits in the supermarket. I get it delivered by a fruit and vegetable company, no plastic and local.
I liked your recycling system for bottles and cans very much! I wish more countries incorporate something similar, it is most efficient! Thank you for a great episode, Arne and Carlos!❤
Hey Arne and Carlos, I just wanted to write a quick note to let you know that one of your biggest fans and pattern purchasers(my mom) passed away on June 9th. She watched all of your videos and on occasion we watched some of your videos together, during her last days in hospice we rewatched your Dolly Parton cake making video. I just wanted to thank you for being yourselves and providing her comfort through your videos, She loved you guys a lot. Thanks again, Terri
Terri, I'm sorry to hear the sad news about your mother. Thank you for letting all of us know. Blessings to you at this difficult time. Regards,Vivian
Condoleances. ❤
So sorry for your loss. Many of us cherish watching Arne & Carlos. They are always there in past episodes and ongoing projects to cheer us up and keep us engaged in creative projects.❤
Hi Teri, we very sorry for your loss. ❤️ our condoleances.
Terri, sending you & your family, friends love in your grief.
What a fun shopping trip! Thanks for showing some of your favorites foods! What unique delicacies!!
I LOVE to visit grocery stores in foreign countries! Also, the ethnic stores here in the USA. The different packaging, products, and smells. It's fascinating to me and such a fun, cultural experience! Thanks for taking us along! 🎉❤😊
When I travel, I love to go to the supermarket to see what is there. Even if I am traveling within the states (US) because in different parts of the country you can find very different products.
When the candy is broken, all the calories escape!
Love this. I so enjoy seeing your life in Norway! It always reminds us of the similarities among us all. We are one. Thank you for all of your honest sharing! Blessings!!
Just now in our part of Scotland it’s the berry season I live on strawberry raspberry blackberry and shortly we have cherries... we do have cheese in a tube I’ve a question do you still eat an orange a day . I love going shopping with you can we do it again ❤
Wow! This was so very interesting. Thank you! I live for Arne's head nods - they're like an exclamation point to what Carlos has said. 😀
Please take us shopping with you every time you go! That was fascinating!! Thank you!
LOL I always hit like because I know it's going to be a wonderful video!!
Same!
Me too !!!
Me too. I LIKE and then watch😎
I love shopping in a new country! Thank you for sharing the things you love. The flowers are beautiful!
I had to laugh when Arne picked up the handcuffs and held them behind Carlos!
😅😅
The handcuffs were very funny - Arne , you devil.
Now now remember this is a family show. 😂
Fun! One moment that had me giggling (okay, there were a few giggle-worthy moments). Carlos didn’t want the broken chocolate bar, and Arne tossing that same chocolate bar into the bag, and later needing to pack down the groceries in the bag to make more room. So, inquiring minds want to know … did Carlos’ chocolate bar make it home in one piece? lol
Thanks for the fun episode. Stay well everyone!
I was thinking the same thing 😂
I wondered the same.
I'm with Carlos on that - I always put the broken one back and get another :)
@@ruth1231 I do too! 😂
@@Kathleen. Ha ha. I don't know why but I always do. I'm sure I saw a very, very small smile on Arne's face when he packed the chocolate. It was fleeting but I'm sure it was there.
Carlos that beautiful bright plaid shirt is gorgeous on you! I live in Maine and look forward to these videos all week. So cute to drive up and Arne gets out of the beetle like a sports car driver. 😊🚗
Thanks gentlemen! It made me so homesick…. I’m very curious to see about the Lefse, as I always make my own every year at the holidays….. we Americans probably don’t eat it the same way, but it’s so tasty! I’m laughing about the pizza, as it seems to be favored the world over.
Oh I LOVE my tube delicacies! Sadly I have to find an IKEA or order them from Amazon to find the ones I like. I’m right with Carlos on then caviar….. the BEST way to eat it!
Love my Gjetoast….. I’ve eaten it my entire life due to. “Cow” allergy!
What no cloudberries?
Love the idea of contributing your bottle return money to the Red Cross! We need that here in USA- Mary.
Animal shelter to
I love going to supermarkets abroad to see what they have. Nice video. Thank you!
It is so interesting. I love their system for recycling plastic bottles, we need that machine in our supermarkets.
@@joquartobeans398 I agree - that machine is great! Such a good incentive and a bit of fun too.
Absolutely loved watching you both on your shopping trip. It really made me smile, Arne is so mischievous, and funny.
😍😍
I love outings into your “ local color” !!
What better way to see a place is visiting with the locals! Interesting yummy looking food. Tubed foods are intriguing . Reminds me of astronauts food. Thanks for the trip ! ❤xx
Marilyn
My grandmother and dad used to make lefsa at Christmas time I live lefsa my grandmother was Norwegian
Seafood is the best in Scandinavia
I really enjoyed this episode. I just love seeing everyday things in other countries. Thank you
Seeing supermarkets in different places is one of my favorite things. Thank you for this neat video
You are welcome!
The peachy, orange daisy flower is originally from South Africa and it is called Osteospermum.
Could we please go and see the yarn next time.
In the UK there is no yarn in supermarkets, very few yarn shops.
Thanks for the video.
You are welcome!
What a fun trip. Thank you. I am looking forward to seeing how you soften the wraps between damp towels and what you put inside of them.
OMG!! 17:38! Arne!! I love you! BUY THE LITTLE BLUE PONY!!! 💙💙🐴🐴🐴💙💙
😍😍
Thankyou for taking us along. Civilized living.
The bottle lottery idea is genius and would never work here. Unless they got AI on the task of limiting it to one transaction per customer. Cruising around doing regular stuff but in a different country is one of my very favorite things, thanks A&C!
Yep! I said the same thing about the lottery option after I realized you got an entry for each "transaction" (ie bottle) if you choose to hit enter after. Can you imagine the lines we'd have here? Oy!
What an enjoyable trip to the shops - next time I would like to know how much your total was - just to do a cost comparison between Norway & Western Australia - food is very expensive here. I love the system of recycling your plastic bottles. Thank you for a great video :)
It is very exspensive here as well
I love love LOVE grocery shopping vids from any place I'm not from (which is USA)!
I think it's interesting that plastic bags are discouraged but half the products in the store are packaged in plastic. People just don't realize how the fossil fuel industry has made plastics so integral to our lives.
Especially since we have outsourced a large part of our cooking.
You did not appear to buy any vegetables or greens, the basis of a healthy diet. And so much of the food is processed. I'm glad I don't live in Norway if this is typical!
We have vegetables here in Norway, most people here eat a lot of healthy food and most people are active. But you can't judge someone's diet just because you watch a few minutes of videos that are posted on RUclips.
Oh Oh ! Arne forgot to get Carlos' favorite chocolate bar when he put back the broken one...I only saw one choc bar rung up lol; I hope you weren't too disappointed, Carlos ! That was fun to see your lovely grocery store/Post Office...but I especially liked the bottle return combination Lottery? Red Cross donation scheme, so Cool !!!
In Virginia,US are liquor stores are all controlled by the state! I always enjoy watching other supermarkets.
you guys are so cute...lol. I love shopping in new places and "shopping" with you two was awesome... love that there is a well stocked flower/gardening centre right next door. Thank you for sharing this adventure...
I feel like A & C are my adorable 3rd & 4th sons.
many american states have govt control alcohol stores
This was awesome!!! Thanks Arne and Carlos!😃👏🏼🥰
Absolutely LOVE grocery shopping in different countries! Great episode!
Spar supermarkets originated in the Netherlands
Interestingly fun video, much I didn’t know about Norway products. Super fun video.
Too cute! Shopping has never been more fun. Love you guys!!
Do you have shopping carts?
Yes
It's like watching a live version of Bert & Ernie from Sesame Street 😂 😂 😂
Hi arnecarlos
Was there no fresh bread or rolls?💕
Yes, there is a big bread section.
I was amazed when you drove up to a Circle K gas station! It could have been anywhere here in the US. I thought you were kidding us at first and it wasn’t Norway, but I loved going shopping with you in the Supermarket.
Thank you for joining us!
Love your beetle. You guys r interesting. Love your field trips
I had to smile when I saw the Vestlands lefse. Good memories from when I was little and many of the stores in small towns carried Scandinavian foods. Rekke ost, in the tube, was a favorite when I visited Norway. Tubes of the cheese were brought back with me and I was always stopped when going through customs. 😀 We can't get that cheese here, unfortunately. Gjetost is a must and still eat that on bread with a cup of tea or coffee. Thanks for sharing the visit to your grocery store and the good memories. Ha det... 🙃🙃
Ha det😍❤️
My mom had (and I now have) a recipe for chicken liver pate. She used to make it every fall for US Thanksgiving. It is delicious and now I make it for my family too...yummy!!!!!!
Such a fun video. O was hoping to see Norwegian bread. Maybe next time
How fun! Thank you for the tour...I remember when alcohol sales were restricted and stores were closed on Sunday...an easier time...have a wonderful week...❤❤❤
I loved this video. Such fun to see Arne in the toy section (although you should have got the handcuffs for when you are arrested for being so stunning LOL). I chuckled when you mentioned that some people think the pate is made of children. My husband and I both hope to see how Norwegian potato dumplings are made. Thank you for showing us beautiful Valdres.
How fun to see the potato dumplings in the store. We called them kumla. I was surprised that some people in the USA of Norwegian heritage did not make/know kumla. I figured out today they have different names depending on where you live in Norway. Brown cheese was so good. Also the strawberries we had in Norway were very tiny but the best flavor!
I love the pant machine, so good to see people that recycle and take seriously! Great of Norway not to sale or use plastic bags is wonderful. I hope people appreciate and learn how much Norway is doing and maybe make changes in America. Unfortunately USA still uses mass plastic grocery bags, and is so far behind on recycling. It's nice to see countries that do so good.
At least make & use a cloth grocery bag, all the seamstresses & knitters, crocheters, need to make sure and use their shopping bags not plastic.
Great fun to see the typical Norway shops, how beautiful and the products.
Thank you, enjoy your show.
Thank you!
So much fun and so interesting to see how you shop and the different products and how things are displayed. Love, love your Beetle!
Great to see where you shop, I really enjoyed it!!! The only refrigerated tube item we have is herbs, my favorite is Basil because I can't seem to grow it
myself...Thanks so much. Love from NC, USA.
Thank you for a brilliant episode. I look forward to the cooking videos you mentioned.
I really enjoyed the tour of the supermarket. I always find it fun to explore the markets in other countries.
I thought Carlos may have been driving the Beetle today .
Your shops look good. Also like your kitchen.,even though a quick flash.hehe. I like liver pate.
We still make Lefsa from my grandmother’s recipe every year for Christmas! We eat it with butter and brown sugar. Yum!
You guys are always a breath of fresh air ❤
Arne & Carlos are adorable & so talented.
That was fun - especially the little toy department and Bamsemums!
Hm, bringing a shopping bag with you to avoid buying (!!!) an expensive plastic bag, and in the shop all things are wrapped in plastic? How queer ...
Hi, very interesting shop. Wish we had yarn stores in our supermarket. Oh maybe not !!! Sian from North Wales 😊
Love this video - minus the liver pâté - never developed a taste for it. Thoroughly enjoy your work. BTW. I’m working on my second GRY sweater. Just paused before adding sleeves to body. I made one for my niece’s college graduation and her mom -my SIL - loves it so much she asked for the same one!!! So happy I discovered you both. Can’t wait for the next video xo Maureen
In Australia no liquor stores are owned by the government, they are either owned independently or by a private company/ supermarket
Love watching you shop. Great fun . Thank you
Carlos, how did I know that you are a Virgo? I have always wondered…..so typical. Love you guys, carry on!
Hi from the high desert in Albuquerque, NM. I absolutely love both of you. Do you have farmers' markets available in the summer or autumn? I go straight to the greens all the time: mustard, Swiss chard, collard, etc. Do you ever buy that?
I really like that the government owns the liquor stores. That is a great way to increase revenue for public programs. I also like the bottle recycling machine. Smart idea. Thanks again for a fun channel.~Oma
Fascinating to see another country's markets. I'd like to try the grandiosa pizza as I'm sitting here eating frozen pizza now. Who was the man's face on the milk cartons? Actor? Politician?
Thanks for the info on the food. I will be taking a cruise to Norway next month. Will visit a grocery store and look for Brown cheese. Many thanks
This was a lot of fun for this New Yorker. I saw the Philly Cream Cheese and other US products. Sadly, we seldom get any of your products over here. PS, the flowers you bought are gorgeous!
A couple things I’ve learned about Norwegians. Frozen pizza, Pepsi max, tacos, stuff in tubes and cans lol😂 I grew up on frozen pizza and tacos, canned stews although I think it’s just a coincidence that I have mostly Norwegian roots but frozen “convenience” foods are shamed big time these days so I’ve unfortunately started cooking a lot more. 😂 it’s not great for sodium content but I’m curious if maybe Norway is more conscious of this and maybe has healthier versions than American processed foods?
Very enjoyable - when in Sweden and Denmark, sadly didnt do a market - would have loved that!!!❤
So no plastic bags in Norway but everything is packaged in plastics. So funny. And govt monopoly on goods. In Australia..Norway has been in the news and not in a good way. World politics is a whole minefield of double standards.
My Norwegian grandma used to make Lefsa as a special treat! This brought back great memories! Thank you❤
That's actually nice that you can donate the money from turning in your recyclable bottles. In Michigan you pay extra and then can return them in similar fashion but I don't think they have a donation system. Alcohol is in a separate section of some of the stores so a metal gate just gets closed and locked to block it off during non-sale hours. We have "some" things in tubes like yogurt for one. We also have self checkout at a lot of grocery stores.
Weve got SPAR in scotland not as well stocked as yours, its over priced sometimes. Like to shop in Aldi and Lidl, Waitrose sometimes and Asda. Good to see what you had on offer .
Love legs a with butter and sugar. The thin flat bread I just put butter or gjetost on it. When I saw. The size of the brown cheese I was so jealous. I can only find the small squares..
I like the Pear flavored soda pop, that we enjoyed in Sweden and Norway. ❤. Your ice cream is much more creamy than what we have in the states. Your butter is delicious too! We ate a lot of Hard Tac, flat bread too. You are lucky to have good laws to prevent poisoning you! I wish we had the same laws.
The prices look reasonable for your groceries. Here in NH, USA all the liquor stores are owned by the state but we can buy wine and beer in supermarkets. The laws about limiting times for buying beer are called 'blue laws' here. Interesting to see Philadelphia brand in the cheese case.
Enjoyed. When I visit different places, I try to go to the grocery store to see what they have and it's fun to bring home something to cook and enjoy after the visit too.
So much joy in this episode! You always bring up my spirits when I need it. Thank you! ❤
Bacon cheese in a tube. Hmmmm
Love the small grocery with flower store next door and wine store too. Like no plastic bags and recycling plastic bottles to benefit Red Cross.
Same in BC Canada - government liquor stores.
Why are liquor stores owned by the government?
We have bottle recycling/refund too, but no lottery ticket possibilities. I can see how someone could hold up a line with that!
We have chicken and pork liver pate, which I love on toast. I tried the caviar when in Lofoten, not my favourite. I love, love the brown cheese which we can buy here in Adelaide . When you visit us I will take me you to our Central Market which is like no other market you have ever seen😊
I think it is funny that you can't used plastic bags, but when you turned, all there was behind you was a see of plastic. We have the same thing here in the US.
How often do you grocery shopping? I would have to be there everyday! 😂
Love your videos. So glad you hit our guild in Encinitas CA
I love watching you two browsing the aisles! The pate is my fave. 😎
Since I live in Seattle's little bit of Scandinavia I can always find the brown cheese. It is a favorite. Do wish we could get Kavviar in a tube😮
Carlos you need to makeJacques Pepin 's chicken liver pate or mousse
It is easy to make and delicious.. I make it all the time
We have the same government owned liquor store in Canada too. But here stores are not allowed to sell beers after 11pm I think.
This was very interesting. To see the kinds of foods you have there.
Hi guys I enjoyed shopping with you today it was. Fun to see how you shop the flowers were pretty so enjoy your day and see you next week ❤
