I can't agree enough. Picked up an fresh OLED this year and I can guarantee you'll get some bang for your buck. Can't believe how well this console is holding up after 7 years! StreetPass was SUCH a missed opportunity.
IMO 7 years should not be considered "old" for a game console. I don't like having to spend $300+ on a new electric brick at least once a decade, just let me keep using the perfectly functional electric brick I already have. We don't need "powerful graphics" or whatever, it just needs to run the games that make me happy. And you know what they say, the Nintendo Switch has games
Madz is so real. I agree so many people focus on craving new directs and new games which is blasphemy when there's already a huge library (plus games on other platforms ) that I doubt eveyone has played everything they want to. Alot of gamers treat their backlogs like dad's to their kids who left to get milk. They (backlogs) deserve some love too.
I am personally dreading the next console generation and I am so sick of the constant rumor mill that's been circulating for the past few years where everyone's always speculating about the next console. I'm dreading the point where the new console is here and all new releases go directly to that one and I will be stuck having to upgrade or miss out. especially with games I've been waiting for that aren't out yet and might just skip the Switch entirely if the new console is out by the time they're ready for a Nintendo console port.
the only thing missing in the Nintendo Switch is music in the eshop because I heard that previous consoles had it and maybe in the near future I will buy older consoles to play games that will not be released on these particular consoles
@@NuiYabuko well, you're right, but I know that the Nintendo Switch was supposed to have music in the eshop, but now the remnants are left in the files.
I first got my Switch in June 2020 (I would've gotten it when the you-know-what started, but there was a console shortage). I'm still thoroughly enjoying my Switch! I've played a bunch of great games, and I have a massive backlog that I'm working my way through. I have very few issues with the console. I do wish the home screen was more customizable rather than just a black background, and I agree with your points about lacking Miiverse, Streetpass, trophies, etc. But overall, I love this thing!
10:46/honestly I feel like this is the reason my switch collects dust so often. Don’t get me wrong, the switch has a pretty nice library of games and all but I always find myself going back to my 3DS because of how much charm it has. I love all the banners the games have and when it was still available, I loved browsing through the library of themes and games. Nowadays I find myself booting up my switch and staring at the boring grey wallpaper and feeling like scrolling through the Eshop is a chore. I really hope they bring back the personality in the next console
i still have my original switch i got on my 14th birthday from i think 2018. my first game was splatoon 2, i remember i loved it so much, stayed up all night playing, now i play splatoon 3 on it, and i still love it
I bought a Nintendo switch last year and I'm proud of it, I have something I've wanted for so many years, i.e. 6 years. And I wanted a computer a long time ago and I also have it, but I've been waiting for it since 2014 or 2015, I'm not sure, maybe even 2012 and I got it at the end of 2019 or at the beginning of the pandemic.
I honestly can't even believe it... be it surprising or not, i actually never experienced the release of the Switch, i never saw any trailers, anything related to it, up until a few years later i started to learn about it, it felt like it suddenly popped up into existence in a few years, but enough of my story with it... the Switch is awesome, sure, may be much more underpowered than other consoles but it gets the job for a console to go out and play with at any time, so many amazing games in it, i never got to play Nintendo games that much... but i would totally get a Switch if i could, just so i could experience the brand new Kirby games :)
I personally find this humorous that we're asking ourselves this question despite the PS4 and Xbox one lasting with the same amount of time, and it was mostly a waste of time because the newest consoles didn't offer much by comparison.
I think the main reason people are waiting for the Switch 2 to come out instead of buying a regular Switch is because of how likely it is that the Swicth 2 will be backwards compatible with all Switch games. I'm sure that if Nintendo said something like "The Switch 2 will not be backwards compatible at launch", there would be a spike in Switch sales.
I think you are right. I also think a lot of the people whom are talking about switch 2 are Nintendo based content creator, so makes sense for their job
I really want them to bring back miiverse and streetpass and the silly little ambient music that would play when you were on the news channel or the eshop. Thats what set nintendo apart from their competitors
people have kind of seen the switch 2 as this brand new thing when in reality its probably gonna just be. the new 3ds of the switch including with backwards compatibility with the original switch and its not gonna be as cracked up as people think its gonna be
I'm having a blast with the 3DS games I panic-bought, Metriod Prime, and PowerWash Simulator. Nintendo taking their time means I can play games I've been putting off for years!
Never thought about it this way. I've been despairing getting a new one because "there's no way I've fully made use of this thing". But in reality... I just barely used it...
I remember when I was 8 in 2017 and I went to my friends house and played Mario Odyssey. The fact that you can detach joycons and take the switch wherever you can go and play on the big screen just blew my 8 year old mind. In 2021, I picked up a Switch myself and it has been my favorite console I have ever owned (my old PS3 is a very close 2nd). Kinda weird the Switch is almost at a close, considering it still feels new and new releases are dropping to the console.
Happy 7th Anniversary to the Nintendo Switch man I can't believe it 7 years of the Nintendo Switch man there are so many good games to play on the Switch that I played like Super Mario Bros Wonder, Kirby Star Allies, Super Kirby Clash, Kirby Fighters 2, Kirby's Dream Buffet, Kirby and the Forgotten Land, Kirby's Return to Dreamland Deluxe, Luigi's Mansion 3, Super Mario Party, Mario Party Superstars, Super Mario RPG, Mario VS Donkey Kong remake, Mario Kart 8 Deluxe, Super Mario Odyssey, Super Mario 3D All-Stars, Super Smash Bros Ultimate, and Miitopia But I can't wait for the other games to come out to Switch this year which are Princess Peach Showtime, Luigi's Mansion 2 The Dark Moon, Paper Mario The Thousand Year Door, and Epic Mickey Rebrushed. But they should add some more games like a port or remaster of it like if Grezzo and Nintendo worked on Tomodachi Life for Switch and adding the Miitopia Mii Maker in it cause that would be amazing, maybe we can finally get a new Donkey Kong Game since Tropical Freeze for Wii U, maybe we can also finally get Metroid Prime 4, we could get some remasters of Zelda games, we could get a new Mario Party Game and a new Mario Sports like Baseball, and possibly we could get GameCube Library in the Nintendo Switch Online if not then it goes to Switch 2. And for Switch 2 hopefully, we can see a new 3D Mario game, a new Mario Kart Game, a new Yoshi Game, a new Wario Land game, a new Mario Party game, a new Mario Sports game, a new Dk Game, a new Starfox Game, a new Punch-Out Game, and a new 3D Kirby game since HAL is working on the next 3D Kirby Game which could be a sequel to Kirby and the Forgotten Land and it would be awesome to see Elfilin and Clawroline as playable characters that would be awesome. But let's hope and see what Nintendo has in store for us for Switch before we move to Switch 2. Anyways Happy 7th Anniversary Nintendo Switch.🥳
Yeah I feel ya. Time is such a weird thing huh…. Sometimes you feel that only a short time has passed but in actuality a lot of time has already passed. Can’t believe it’s been 7 Years since the OG switch was released.
i was 13 when the switch came out. i didn’t get it immediately, but i played it with my cousin a lot. i finally got my own when i was 16 and i played it almost everyday for 2 years straight! don’t really play it much anymore but i have such a soft spot for this console. can’t wait for its successor!
11:20 Spot on. I am kid, the switch is my first console, got that back in 2019, and… yeah. Not as much attachment to it at all. I really wish I had something like a Wii with its much more creative UI and the focus on Miis and such. I ditched it for a gaming PC once I had the opportunity, and it’s been gathering dust since.
I really think the best thing about the switch is that it's main gimmick doesn't intrude on gameplay like how the wii and wii u did, so you can play these games like most normal games rather than feeling frustrated about a shoehorned-in mechanic
The Switch is still revelant! I'm hoping it's around til 2027! I want a Switch port of Yoshi's Woolly World, a double pack of Triple Deluxe & Planet Robobot for Switch, Switch port of F-Zero GX, Super Mario 3D All Stars Plus for Switch which gives us; 64, Sunshine, 64 DS, Galaxy 1, Galaxy 2, & 3D Land. I also want a Switch port of Fire Emblem: Genealogy Of The Holy War, & a new Rhythm Heaven game for Switch!
The Switch I've had since launch has been used way too much, it is actually deteriorating and it's gotten way worse in just the past year. The battery barely lasts more than 1.5 hours, and tiny pieces of the shell are coming off, the grate above the fan has been gone since at least 2021. I really hope the new console comes out before this thing becomes totally unusable.
YOOO same here! I’m not eager to abandon it anytime soon. I’ve had the Switch since before the release of Pokemon’s eighth generation (in fact, I think Let’s Go Eevee was one of our first games) and I have so many memories stored on my Switch. From my first Partner Eevee to all of the Miis in my Miitopia save. Unless I REALLY want to play a game that gets released on the next console, I’m planning on keeping the Switch as my home console for a long time.
im happy with my switch oled its awesome. though i cant help feeling like we need a performance boost when docked (switch oled is super underclocked) also i think we need a gimmick. dual screen functionality could be retroactively added to the switch but people must be willing to buy an extension cord or a new dock
Tbh I remember when the switch first came out, time has passed, I don’t own a switch but I always wanted one but I never really ask my parents for any pricey things tbh so when I did ask my mom was surprised but also was supportive but it was expensive and my dad said if I get good marks on a important exam I could get it, my results isn’t out yet but Im so excited to get a switch and I don’t want the switch to be considered old tbh
Despite me making jokes about getting old now that I’m in highschool, videos like these make me feel young. Like I was 8 when the switch came out I didn’t get it until 2020.
Steam has a significantly larger library than the switch. I have well over 3500 games in my Library today. I actually only got a Switch in the last 6 months and I've been going through its back log of games. I love my deck, and its my primary medium of playing games (as well as streaming those games from my gaming pc).
Just got a switch OLED for the first time in December (first console ever, used pc for past years), and as luck would have it, I started hearing rumors about a switch two about a month later. I was sad because I just got a switch and then it'll be outdated, but now I have realized that there are still so many good games on the console that I won't really need a switch two or whatever, I usually get a console for the exclusive games and there are so many good games I haven't bought yet that will probably give me enough play that I won't care about a switch two, (games like, animal crossing, any mario game, pokemon: legends arceus, mario kart, etc). So I probably won't even pick up a switch two for another 2-3 years when it releases.
don't worry, there has been talk of "switch pro" for years and even if it does come out next year, you will still have an e-shop library that have more games then you have time :)
Just ordered a steam deck. Love my switch oled but some games I want to play on the go don’t have the best ports. Also wish the switch had on system voice chat for games like splatoon. It’s a great console that somehow feels so alone despite great multiplayer games.
The whole Switch 2 idea people say confuses me as it just doesn't make sense. What would a Switch 2 be other then just a visual/hardware upgrade? The 3DS had the circle pad, amiibo compatability, and a lot more fully 3D games. The Wii U basically gave more HD visuals, Amiibo compatability, the gamepad with touch controls (which honstly had a lot of good uses in many of the first party games like Nintendo Land and especially Super Mario Maker), all with the already existing mechanics from the Wii like the Motion Controls. A Switch 2 would be very weak and way too similar to the original console. The whole idea was the hybrid design but you can't really expand on the Switch unless you make a whole new console.
I’m excited to hear what’s next from Nintendo but I’m not done with the switch yet still waiting for Luigi’s mansion 2 , paper matio and epic Mickey even if they are all remakes which I never got to play when the originally released (except Luigi’s mansion 2 got that in 2016 and it keeps the 3ds alive still and will continue to)
I can honestly agree with that tho I’m hoping for backwards compatibility for the switch come the new console if not them mabye I might back track as I never got to properly play any DS games
I don't like how old you made me feel, Madz. Though I think I needed this. Nice video. Edit: After some thinking, I have an idea. What if- instead of releasing a new console, they launched a thing where you can send in your Switch and get it upgraded with better hardware? Kinda like build-a-bear for your game console, in a way. That way we keep ALL the games, ALL the data, with better performance! Or not, you wouldn't have to buy it and can just roll with a base Switch.
I love the switch, but my first released model recently broke, so I’ve been saving for an OLED. The very first release of Switch’s was kind of prone to melting? So ig I got lucky, but the fan broke recently. Can’t wait to finally beat TOTK though, I was halfway through when it broke 😭
@@Summer_and_Rain I'll probably just get the blue and red OLED. The ones with decals are cool, but I already own most of the games those come with. Ty for asking btw :-).
1:02 I hat to be that guy but sega did that with the sega genesis in the 90s with the sega nomad, where you could play genesis games, and then dock it and play it on a tv, so not really revolutionary
The switch still active and well is maybe the longest lasting console from ninendo being 7 years old,wii and wii u only 6 and 5 years old and 3ds lasted 9 years so the switch is gonna last like 11 or 12 years before it dies damn
The worst part of the Switch Era for Nintendo has been their absolute greediest in terms of pricing their stuff and getting games that felt lacking (especially YOU NSO Online Expansion Pack!!) I would not go to Steam Deck given the entire problematic customer experience that IS Steam/Valve
all i want is a more powerful console, the switch has an amazing library but i would love to play all my games on a system that can run most games at at least 1080p and 60fps
I enjoy my switch, I am not in a hurry to get a new console. I would not mind if joy-con prices would go down, because joy-con drift is still annoying. But other then that I feel most games on switch run great. It is mostly devs or publishers that are not putting in the time to make it run good that are the problem, but I don't experience that happening as often on the type of games I play.
Damn, I remember being in school and kids running up to me and saying "There's going to be a new Nintendo console with two detachable controllers and it's going to be portable!" I feel so old now. Also who else will riot if Nintendo doesn't release a new form of streetpass?
Honestly? If I had the chance id get a gamecube over a switch because by your same logic theres some good, GOOD games already made and a lot of old games from that gen are gamecube exclusive. So many of them have so much love poured into them that I find it kind of tragic that its so hard to find and access them :( Yes this entire comment is about Skies of Arcadia
My first switch technically died cuz it crashes trying to run games now. The back is cracked and broken, and the right side can’t connect joycons anymore. It’s time has come lmao
One thing to point out with the Steam Deck is that, yes you can play switch games on steam deck, but doing so is piracy I’m in the mindset of “if you can reasonably buy and play a game new then you should support the official release” and leave emulation to games that companies no longer officially sell/can only be bought used (because of how bad video game preservation has gotten) On a side note, it is interesting that there seems to be only four Nintendo first party games announced for the whole of 2024 (Princess Peach: Showtime, Luigi’s Mansion 2 HD, Paper Mario TTYD, and Endless Ocean: Luminous), at least the recent partner showcase has definitely built up the number of games (both multi-platform and exclusives) releasing on Switch this year.
It really depends on your interests. Pretty much the only things Ive booted up my switch for was Smash ultimate and the Metroid Prime remaster. For some the library was pretty lacking. ESPECIALLY if you didnt like totk, which I wish I did, but I didnt like it, couldn’t be bothered to even finish the game

Unless I REALLY want to play a game that gets released on the next console, I’m planning on keeping the Switch as my home console for a long time.
I, too, have had my Nintendo Switch since Day 1. And I didn’t have to pre-order mines.
im happy with my switch oled its awesome. though i cant help feeling like we need a performance boost when docked (switch oled is super underclocked)
also i think we need a gimmick. dual screen functionality could be retroactively added to the switch but people must be willing to buy an extension cord or a new dock
Wow. Your avatar animation is SUPERB
Uwoah. I've had this console for 5 years. I'm still in the mindset of "haven't owned the Switch for over half of its lifespan".
I’m sorry, 7 years old! I knew it came out a while ago but 7 years! It’s only felt like 4-5 years
Despite me making jokes about getting old now that I’m in highschool, videos like these make me feel young.
How did I completely blank out when the parental controls were shown. I heard no sound...
I’m excited to hear what’s next from Nintendo but I’m not done with the switch yet still waiting for Luigi’s mansion 2 , paper matio and epic Mickey even if they are all remakes which I never got to play when the originally released (except Luigi’s mansion 2 got that in 2016 and it keeps the 3ds alive still and will continue to)
I can honestly agree with that tho I’m hoping for backwards compatibility for the switch come the new console if not them mabye I might back track as I never got to properly play any DS games
honestly the nintendo switch is one of the best consoles of all time
the only problem is that some parts break WAY to easily
joy-con drift...
NO WAY
I WAS NINE YEARS OLD WHEN THE SWITCH CAME OUT!?! Now I’m 16…
i’ve had the same exact switch since i got it in late 2017. its a little scuffed but if i can play splatoon 3 on it, its usable.
Me patiently waiting for a new Kid Icarus game and/or a port of Kid Icarus Uprising. 🤦🏾♂️
I love the switch, but my first released model recently broke, so I’ve been saving for an OLED. The very first release of Switch’s was kind of prone to melting? So ig I got lucky, but the fan broke recently. Can’t wait to finally beat TOTK though, I was halfway through when it broke 😭
that sucks. :(
On a happier note, which switch edition are you saving for? :)
@@Summer_and_Rain I'll probably just get the blue and red OLED. The ones with decals are cool, but I already own most of the games those come with. Ty for asking btw :-).
@@finleylaz7942 You are welcome :) I am a bit into the red one. It is fun to hear what other are drawn to. I hope you have a good weekend
@@Summer_and_Rain I hope you have a good weekend too :-). Also the red one is very nice!
What's the music in the first minute of the video? I cant remember what it's from
1:02 I hat to be that guy but sega did that with the sega genesis in the 90s with the sega nomad, where you could play genesis games, and then dock it and play it on a tv, so not really revolutionary
Da king is back baby he neva miss
Switch 2 is gonna be up there with PS6 and Xbox Series XL (or something like that)
It's gonna be wild
Im saving for a OLED because my current switches fan throws a fit each time I play
Which one do you want? :)
@@Summer_and_Rain the classic black and white one would be nice, especially since I already have splatoon 3 and tears of the kingdom
@@qwertycards392 nice :)
7 years already???
all i want is a more powerful console, the switch has an amazing library but i would love to play all my games on a system that can run most games at at least 1080p and 60fps
i want a ds or 3ds cause of pokemon platinum and tomodachi life but im forced to sell my switch if i want one of them
I enjoy my switch, I am not in a hurry to get a new console.
Holy shit, the switch is 7 years old
I honestly just want a new Nintendo console to come out as my current switch has seen a lot better days
Man I was 12 years old looking at all the NX rumors and now I’m an adult this doesn’t feel right
I just realised I’ve had the Nintendo switch for 6 years and for 2-3 years I lost it luckily I found it
Honestly? If I had the chance id get a gamecube over a switch because by your same logic theres some good, GOOD games already made and a lot of old games from that gen are gamecube exclusive.
So many of them have so much love poured into them that I find it kind of tragic that its so hard to find and access them :(
Yes this entire comment is about Skies of Arcadia
jesus, i remember begging my mam for a switch when it came out
My first switch technically died cuz it crashes trying to run games now. The back is cracked and broken, and the right side can’t connect joycons anymore. It’s time has come lmao
Switch is going to keep getting that yearly Just Dance up to 2030.
7 years and no successor proves the Switch is peak gaming tech and its impossible to beat
One thing to point out with the Steam Deck is that, yes you can play switch games on steam deck, but doing so is piracy
I’m in the mindset of “if you can reasonably buy and play a game new then you should support the official release” and leave emulation to games that companies no longer officially sell/can only be bought used (because of how bad video game preservation has gotten)
On a side note, it is interesting that there seems to be only four Nintendo first party games announced for the whole of 2024 (Princess Peach: Showtime, Luigi’s Mansion 2 HD, Paper Mario TTYD, and Endless Ocean: Luminous), at least the recent partner showcase has definitely built up the number of games (both multi-platform and exclusives) releasing on Switch this year.
We did just get a hole lot of Mario.
How in the dang was 2017 SEVEN YEARS AGO???
I didn't know the Switch was the third best selling console until now 😐
It really depends on your interests. Pretty much the only things Ive booted up my switch for was Smash ultimate and the Metroid Prime remaster. For some the library was pretty lacking. ESPECIALLY if you didnt like totk, which I wish I did, but I didnt like it, couldn’t be bothered to even finish the game
I'm still wondering if Nintendo should buy Sega as a subsidiary. Like when Marvel became a subsidiary for Disney.
7 YEARS!?
i just want more mii games and like mii skin colours and hair types
Might go for the switch 2. The performance on the switch with the price for the system and most games ain’t for me
switching it up until it's own gravestone
Maybe when the Switch 2 comes out, we'll have the PS6 and Xbox Series Z so we'll have a normal gen of consoles
Idk if I should a switch anymore. I haven’t gotten one in my life before.
Cute animation 😂❤
I was just talking about this, so sad
i remnber saying to my dad that we would get the switch only when it stop being new, i never thought it would acctualy be true
Old moment
idc how long nintendo lets the switch live i want to see it beat the ps2 in sales and that console was discontinued when the ps4 came out
I feel so old.
Happy 7 years
Mood News is so peak why did I ever watch any other news
