I think the price would more worth it for the Lite if Nintendo had it $150. For the price of one Switch, you could get 2 Switch Lites. True, but maybe because that’s quite literally and obviously not the purpose for this tech at all- it’s MEANT for handheld. If you just put all those features back in there it would be just a regular switch but for $100 cheaper for no reason and Nintendo would basically lose millions of dollars for people getting a regular switch but for a lot cheaper
Switch lite inside your pocket is a one way ticket to regret land. I think you'd be able to pack the regular switch inside your pocket if you remove the cons into the other pocket... I'm about to buy a switch lite, it will be my first Nintendo console so I don't know much about it, But I have played the normal switch with friends. Does it have the same capabilities, just without TV mode and joycons?
Some games aren't playable (with only the console itself, but you can buy and connect more joycons to the system), but most of them are shovel ware anyway like 1 2 switch. And some games are a significantly lesser experience, like skyward sword. But mainly you really have to think about whether or not you would ever want to play docked.
The most important thing to remember is that the Switch Lite does not have motion controls, meaning it can’t play certain games that the regular Switch can.
To be honest i used to have a standart i sold it but i also understood i never used it on a tv because the games aren’t really that type of vibe, i like playing them at night, lite is up but standard is good too

Tbh as a person who has many consoles and gaming devices, I see the switch oled as a really good deal for me personally, because of how it’s not too small and not too big, it’s great for travel and multiplayer and as I got the splatoon edition, it looks really cool with custom printing so it’s really your choice to buy whatever you want but in my opinion I would say get the switch OLED if you have the money to spend.
Honestly, I wouldn’t put the switch in your pocket even if it could fit just because the joy cons because once you miss those joy cons up, you have to take the whole thing apart to fix him. I think it all comes down to preference. It’s nice having a switch light don’t get me wrong but for the extra hundred dollars you’re getting a bigger screen you can dock it to TV and if your joy cons ever get drift you can change them out
I wish there was a dockable Switch that had fused on controllers instead of detachable ones. The Switch Lite feels much more solid in the hands than the regular Switch, but I’d still never get a Lite since there’s a decent amount of games that I think work better on a TV instead of handheld, like Splatoon 3 with motion controls or Switch Sports
i got a lite as it was the only thing available at the time of AC release and then got the animal crossing switch one day and god damn can never go back. hooked it up to my 2nd monitor and comfortably being able to be in any position with the controls is amazing. Definitely worth
Honestly it really depends on what you're looking for. If you already have a main console you use on TV then you could very well go with a lite, like, say you already have a PS4/PS5 or an Xbox of some kind, if i had either of those, i wouldn't get the standard or OLED Switch model, i'd get a lite, however, if you want a Switch as your main console then i'd get a standard or an OLED. It also heavily depends on which games you'd play, if you're going with generally chill games like Animal Crossing, Mario or Pokemon then a lite is just fine, however, if you're planning to play games like BOTW/TOTK, Xenoblade Chronicles or Monster Hunter, then i'd go for a standard/OLED since you would get a better experience by playing those on TV, it's not like you can't play those on a lite, but on the standard/OLED it'd just look better.
There’s another bonus with the normal switch since certain games like switch sports require motion controls only the normal switch and oled model can play them. Although lite users can buy and pair joy cons for these games it’s going be on a tiny screen
Get a 3Ds, a good SD card, and then mod it (the modding process is practically universally accessible and only takes like 30mins-1hr). Then you can do pretty much whatever you want with it
I have the standard switch. Ok love the joy cons and the click. It’s still so fascinating to me. I bought my kid a switch lite and it feels more comfortable but I still gotta go with the OG switch.
I have Switch OLED and recently got an awesome deal on Switch Lite. If you're going for one and don't plan to play on TV, go for Lite. Way more comfortable and convenient.
If you have no friends and no tv to play with, then the switch lite is absolutely the best option. Also I would recommend getting it now if you want the new one next year
I recommend having both! I like the convenience of the portability of the switch lite but also love playing on my tv. Plus as an animal crossing playing it means i can have 2 islands so win for me. I started out with a switch lite then got an oled
Switch lite is PERFECT for any college student. Or any person in the working field already. I won’t act like I didn’t have a magical experience when I played Xenoblade Chronicles 2 on my sister’s 72 inch tv but still. I wouldn’t trade the compact and convenient style of the lite it’s too perfect sometimes. I feel like I’ve made tons of new nintendo fans just by carrying mine around
if you play console or pc more then I suggest lite because its good for portable use and it's a little cheaper so you can spend more money on some games. But if switch is Ur main console then just go to the standard switch.Alot more features and you can switch the joycons out for other controllers making it more comfortable to hold.
This info didnt really help me decide which one to buy at all... Instead can i ask if there is a difference on performance between thse two? Im planning to buy action games so performance is a main concern for me.
What most people don't get with the dockable versions of the switch is you don't have to use the joycons. You can get very nice controllers now without breaking the bank.
Tbh, if your playing some shooting games such as Fortnite or apex legends I find the switch lite more controllable, but if you have a pro controller then that’s good but if you don’t and you just have the standard joycons it’ll be kinda hard to get some controls.
Normal switch all the way. If you get drift with the switch lite that's gonna be super annoying since you won't be able to play while you're fixing it but if you just get some temporary joycons you can still play. Also you have the option of using different styles of joycons if you're into changing up the styles
I love my Lite. I had an OLED and never docked it and played on the TV so I got rid of it and got a Lite recently. I only play portable and the Lite is so much more comfy and easy to hold.
I got the regular Switch earlier this year as right now I’m not traveling as much as before (due to college haha). But once I do start traveling again I’ll probably get a Switch Lite and just leave my regular Switch at home. It may even become my primary Switch as I play my regular Switch on handheld mode most of the time anyway.
regular switch fits better in the pocket actually. if you remove the joycons its just a slightly bigger phone, which you can then put the controllers on a seperate pocket. instead of part of it jutting out like you showed on the lite
Honestly when it comes to traveling the switch lite isn’t too bad because the controls can’t come off when the controls can come off it’s a little difficult but the standard switch is good for that more multiple option conveniences
depends on what your doing with it. Beefy games? Local multiplayer? Longer battery life? Get full size. Budget? Don’t play multiplayer? Lighter console? Get the lite. I have both but I use the lite more. And I gave the full size to my sister.

Got an Oled and Lite, love my Oled but I take my Lite everywhereeee, way more useful imo but at home gaming defo standard or Oled
There’s another bonus with the normal switch since certain games like switch sports require motion controls only the normal switch and oled model can play them. Although lite users can buy and pair joy cons for these games it’s going be on a tiny screen
Did not expect to hear super monkey ball 2 ocean world music on here
I use both to share my game library and save memory.
Trust me, you'll need it.
Standard switch or oled which should I buy?
Get a 3Ds, a good SD card, and then mod it (the modding process is practically universally accessible and only takes like 30mins-1hr). Then you can do pretty much whatever you want with it
I have the standard switch. Ok love the joy cons and the click. It’s still so fascinating to me. I bought my kid a switch lite and it feels more comfortable but I still gotta go with the OG switch.
I have Switch OLED and recently got an awesome deal on Switch Lite. If you're going for one and don't plan to play on TV, go for Lite. Way more comfortable and convenient.
Thanks for making me buy a switch because it can fit in your pocket and I love the switch lite
If you have no friends and no tv to play with, then the switch lite is absolutely the best option. Also I would recommend getting it now if you want the new one next year
Switch light should be able to fit in the dock so it can “switch” between tv and handheld mode.
Me who got a complete used switch lite for 60 bucks: mission passed
if you play console or pc more then I suggest lite because its good for portable use and it's a little cheaper so you can spend more money on some games. But if switch is Ur main console then just go to the standard switch.Alot more features and you can switch the joycons out for other controllers making it more comfortable to hold.
Also the regular have better battery, has a screen bigger and its compatible with extra accesories like d-pad, docks etc
Having just completed it, I can't imagine playing Skyward Sword, with it's awkward controls, only in portable mode.
Switch OLED that’s the only switch for me. Love how vivid the colors are on it
This info didnt really help me decide which one to buy at all...
Instead can i ask if there is a difference on performance between thse two? Im planning to buy action games so performance is a main concern for me.
Both have no performance difference. They run games the same
What most people don't get with the dockable versions of the switch is you don't have to use the joycons. You can get very nice controllers now without breaking the bank.
Ppl r also missing the fact that a switch is automatically a 4 person multiplayer console. But the lite can only be used by 1 person at a time
I want a lite with docking capabilities. But the normal switch is fine too. I just like small handhelds.
Lite is pretty light. As I grow older I prefer to play it 😂 sooooo comfort !❤❤
Is it just me or is the background music from Super Monkey Ball 2 W3 Under Sea?? It sounds so nostalgic!!
Yes that is the background music I chose for this video
regular switch fits better in the pocket actually. if you remove the joycons its just a slightly bigger phone, which you can then put the controllers on a seperate pocket. instead of part of it jutting out like you showed on the lite
Have you ever actually carried your Switch like that though? If so was it comfortable?
I have a question for the switch: if I don't have a smart TV on my home, it will still the Nintendo connect to the television???
Honestly when it comes to traveling the switch lite isn’t too bad because the controls can’t come off when the controls can come off it’s a little difficult but the standard switch is good for that more multiple option conveniences
Go for the Switch OG. In my fb group, lots are complaining about the switch lite screen getting damaged easily
I have the coral one since the day of release and it’s intact, I think that depends more of the person.
I’ll probably go for the lite. Knowing that I don’t really play on tv and I love a smaller screen size
The OLED one was on the middle on my Christmas list
Also with regular switch, you can play with friends on one console.
I thought bro had a really advanced n2dsxl for a second
Standard switch all the way, they get drift very quickly and it's hard to replace on the mini
depends on what your doing with it. Beefy games? Local multiplayer? Longer battery life? Get full size.
Budget? Don’t play multiplayer? Lighter console? Get the lite. I have both but I use the lite more. And I gave the full size to my sister.
I had a lite but sold it. I now have a regular. The slightly bigger screen and playing on the tv is nice. But I mostly play in handheld mode
