In the first year alone, I'm eager to buy 17 games for the Switch to play on portable, including 3rd parties. While the PS4 has only 5 games (series') that would interest me in its whole library. Too less for me to justify the purchase of a PS4. Can't wait for tomorrow! o/

Also, if you're lucky, a special Pro Controller might release together with a game, like the red Classic Controller came with Xenoblade back on the Wii. Despite having a 4K capable PC and PS4, I still find myself excited for this console mostly because of the new ways it'll allow me to play my games and it's untapped potential. Sad that people have to discredit the console without even trying it out.

I agree after picking up a WII U at launch I will not be picking this up until I've seen how it does but if Nintendo are smart they will bring games like Monster Hunter and Pokemon to the switch and phase out the 3DS.

Pilks4k I'm glad I didn't just trade mine in too. Now I can enjoy the last game on the Wii U. Waiting about a year for the bugs to be polished out before I get the switch. I've learned that from other systems when they came out.
It is funny when so many people talk about the price. Nvidia Shield base model cost $199. That is the closest to Switch itself from the hardware point of view. You have a more "advance" controller with the Switch. While not amazing but more storage at 32GB compared to 16GB on Shield. It comes with a full multi touch touch IPS screen while not comparable to other premium mobile devices out there but it does it job here and that is not available on the Shield. A dock provided, while there isn't much inside, but it is definitely not just a piece of plastic. Since it is required for TV connectivity. Obviously there are some small board inside that contain some simple chipset that works as a controller to interface with the Switch along with additional connectivity. Most important of all it plays Nintendo games and everything at just $100 more. Even a Shield tablet cost $199, but less powerful for sure and controller is sold separately. None of those play Nintendo games. But no one is complaining those from Nvidia. It don't make any sense. 3DS launch at $249 but does less than this. Wii U launch at $299 which also does less than this. With everything said, complaining that Switch is expensive is really beyond me.

i own a PS4 and Vita since day 1. I know how it works. And it is no where as useful. It is limited. No WiFi = no go. Besides you have already gone out of point already. PS vita + PS4 cost more than a Switch
I'm surprised with the Switch after owning it since launch. Three of my friends who were more skeptical than me enjoyed it. Until you play it in your hand does it hit you how awesome it is to take a console experience with you on the go. Very cool first time experience.

If... and that's a big IF, at least 1/3 of them are good enough ( for what i like ), which i doubt there are actualy good 60+ exclusives or just exclusives ( which are not minigames ) in a year , but i would like to be wrong, i can still buy the switch in december, maybe get some pack in games and play them then. Trulz21 you don't need an sd card actually if you go with psychical media then the 26 gb you have will be for game saves and dlc. I know it's not much. But you don't have a spare sd card hanging around that you don't use. Also prices of sd in general are coming down. I know it's extra cost but it's not a thing you need right away.
Depends honestly. How many games are you buying digital? A pro controller is a plus but isn't needed. The joycon grip comes with the console. You could be resourceful and use something at home to carry your stuff.

In my opinions this is a mobile device I will go full digital, I don’t want to swap games card on the road. Also 26 Gb for DLC, Saves, OS updates, screenshot/videos, and apps is not enough, even if you only play indie games and not AAA games.
This is a shining example of how hardware, should be critically dissected. For the record, I wholeheartedly welcome lots of due criticism of Switch's quirky design decisions, but they should not be overtly harsh as seen in a couple of reviews. There's no doubt that sometimes Nintendo deserve such kick downs, it's the only way they seemingly learn, but with this console, this is definitely not that time. Everything about Switch screams about how brave Nintendo R&D were to bring such a device to market at this point in time. The fact is I am absolutely in love with mine now, and only after a single day with it, and this after having many reservations about how things weigh up overall. Now even stuff like the right stick are totally OK with me. What I find very shocking, is how poor some of the reviews have been, how they have focused on ridiculously nonsensical things, such the faint possibility of pushing other buttons while removing Joy Con's! It induces the utmost dismay in me, I feel like smacking my head against the wall in disgust of the sheer idiocy, that journalists, people paid to do this kind of thing for a living, think these obscenely minor aspects are worth even mentioning, let alone focusing on. If you are a person open to the concept of compromise, you will love Nintendo Switch. Love it!
Decent system for me, glad I preordered it but for anyone interested in getting it at launch for Zelda, Bomberman, and Indie games then you should get it If not, definitely wait till holiday season since it'll have a pretty solid library by then People need to stop comparing it to underpowered PC's and think of it as it's own thing being a console you can take on the go so seamlessly, just my opinion though.
OJorgeO Seriously. I'm getting it a little later in the month but I'm still looking forward to it. The console does have flaws and that was expected. I am kind of worried about battery life if I'm being honest. However, I never expected it to be a beefy console that would compete with PS4 Pro and Xbox Scorpio since it's a handheld hybrid. I'm looking forward to it's future and I hope Nintendo dedicates some time into making the system their best yet.
As an early adopter for this, I can say that's probably the best time to get this. Also, the overwatch director recently stated that porting to the Switch would be difficult, but he likes the console enough that he will do it if there's enough demand.
Great video once again! The sync issue, lack of LEDs, and UI resolution are kinda wacky, but overall, I'm pretty excited to get my hands on this thing. Won't be getting one day one, but I do like what I'm seeing so far. Traditional "AAA" support isn't there yet, but on the indie side, it looks terrific, and being able to take all those games on the go with real controls, parity, and without needing to stream via remote play (i.e., requiring good internet) is an exciting proposition.
An iPad sells for $500 and people have no problem with that. Only to play incomplete "free to play" games and apps. So I don't see why $300 is a problem for a really powerful tablet which will have AAA titles.
Still going to end up picking this up. Don't really care about the performance issues that much being as I plan to use it as a handheld most the time anyhow and I already have a PC for all my serious gaming. Nintendo has always had some great exclusives and being able to play full fledged home console Nintendo games on the go is going to be pretty sweet. Can't wait to get down on some Sploon 2.

Good review. Though I disagree on the pricing conclusion. It's not expensive. It's a very fair asking price considering the hardware that you get. Doing a little digging you'll find that it's between the Wii U and Xbox One in terms of graphical performance, which is good enough to offer modern console quality gaming on the go. In this day and age where smartphones are going for $400 to $700+ (and being replaced every 1 to 2 years) I don't think $300 is too high, even if the available lineup of games isn't very impressive, but that will change as we move forward into the year.

Merry Blind 3DS could successfully distinguish itself from smartphone and tablets with it's excellent game library. Now Nintendo is going to support the Switch with their full blown console titles so the Switch will have games with production values never seen on a handheld before. This was truly never done before and even though Switch is not powerful enough to run current gen multiplatform AAA titles I think Nintendo is being very smart with this strategy.
So just like the original Gameboy Which i had growing up in the 80s it's gona have as many addons as you can reasonably add on, mine had: the magnifying glass thing, stereo speakers and TV tuner to boot! It was a beast!

Nah there are plenty of quality PS4 titles, and PS VR is much better than any VR the PC has to offer.

Finally! someone who reviews this as a tablet/portable device and not as a 'home console' this is a high end portable that can be plugged into the TV just like a Nvidia Shield Tablet its not a dedicated home console like a PS4 at the very best this is a secondary console.... But if you look at it for what it is its the best gaming portable on the market.
It will be when it actually has good games on it other than Zelda.

Pilks4k I'm glad I didn't just trade mine in too. Now I can enjoy the last game on the Wii U. Waiting about a year for the bugs to be polished out before I get the switch. I've learned that from other systems when they came out.
It is funny when so many people talk about the price. Nvidia Shield base model cost $199. That is the closest to Switch itself from the hardware point of view. You have a more "advance" controller with the Switch. While not amazing but more storage at 32GB compared to 16GB on Shield. It comes with a full multi touch touch IPS screen while not comparable to other premium mobile devices out there but it does it job here and that is not available on the Shield. A dock provided, while there isn't much inside, but it is definitely not just a piece of plastic. Since it is required for TV connectivity. Obviously there are some small board inside that contain some simple chipset that works as a controller to interface with the Switch along with additional connectivity. Most important of all it plays Nintendo games and everything at just $100 more. Even a Shield tablet cost $199, but less powerful for sure and controller is sold separately. None of those play Nintendo games. But no one is complaining those from Nvidia. It don't make any sense. 3DS launch at $249 but does less than this. Wii U launch at $299 which also does less than this. With everything said, complaining that Switch is expensive is really beyond me.

I'm surprised with the Switch after owning it since launch. Three of my friends who were more skeptical than me enjoyed it. Until you play it in your hand does it hit you how awesome it is to take a console experience with you on the go. Very cool first time experience.

It's always about what games i actually want to play. If... and that's a big IF, at least 1/3 of them are good enough ( for what i like ), which i doubt there are actualy good 60+ exclusives or just exclusives ( which are not minigames ) in a year , but i would like to be wrong, i can still buy the switch in december, maybe get some pack in games and play them then. But i also own the PS4, WiiU, PC and older consoles, which all have AMAZING exclusives and a lot of them are as well coming out this year, so i'm not going to addopt this console early, but wait. It's what me and my wife decided. I'm not a portable player, so i will wait.

But you don't have a spare sd card hanging around that you don't use. Also prices of sd in general are coming down. I know it's extra cost but it's not a thing you need right away.
Depends honestly. How many games are you buying digital? A pro controller is a plus but isn't needed. The joycon grip comes with the console. You could be resourceful and use something at home to carry your stuff.

In my opinions this is a mobile device I will go full digital, I don’t want to swap games card on the road. Also 26 Gb for DLC, Saves, OS updates, screenshot/videos, and apps is not enough, even if you only play indie games and not AAA games.

This is a shining example of how hardware, should be critically dissected.
For the record, I wholeheartedly welcome lots of due criticism of Switch's quirky design decisions, but they should not be overtly harsh as seen in a couple of reviews. There's no doubt that sometimes Nintendo deserve such kick downs, it's the only way they seemingly learn, but with this console, this is definitely not that time. Everything about Switch screams about how brave Nintendo R&D were to bring such a device to market at this point in time.
The fact is I am absolutely in love with mine now, and only after a single day with it, and this after having many reservations about how things weigh up overall. Now even stuff like the right stick are totally OK with me. What I find very shocking, is how poor some of the reviews have been, how they have focused on ridiculously nonsensical things, such the faint possibility of pushing other buttons while removing Joy Con's! It induces the utmost dismay in me, I feel like smacking my head against the wall in disgust of the sheer idiocy, that journalists, people paid to do this kind of thing for a living, think these obscenely minor aspects are worth even mentioning, let alone focusing on.
If you are a person open to the concept of compromise, you will love Nintendo Switch. Love it!

OJorgeO Seriously. I'm getting it a little later in the month but I'm still looking forward to it. The console does have flaws and that was expected. I am kind of worried about battery life if I'm being honest. However, I never expected it to be a beefy console that would compete with PS4 Pro and Xbox Scorpio since it's a handheld hybrid. I'm looking forward to it's future and I hope Nintendo dedicates some time into making the system their best yet.

As an early adopter for this, I can say that's probably the best time to get this.
Also, the overwatch director recently stated that porting to the Switch would be difficult, but he likes the console enough that he will do it if there's enough demand.

Great video once again! The sync issue, lack of LEDs, and UI resolution are kinda wacky, but overall, I'm pretty excited to get my hands on this thing. Won't be getting one day one, but I do like what I'm seeing so far. Traditional "AAA" support isn't there yet, but on the indie side, it looks terrific, and being able to take all those games on the go with real controls, parity, and without needing to stream via remote play (i.e., requiring good internet) is an exciting proposition.

An iPad sells for $500 and people have no problem with that. Only to play incomplete "free to play" games and apps. So I don't see why $300 is a problem for a really powerful tablet which will have AAA titles.
Still going to end up picking this up. Don't really care about the performance issues that much being as I plan to use it as a handheld most the time anyhow and I already have a PC for all my serious gaming. Nintendo has always had some great exclusives and being able to play full fledged home console Nintendo games on the go is going to be pretty sweet. Can't wait to get down on some Sploon 2.

The stand being a little loose is a good thing since it's detachable, so it wouldn't break with use, it would just pop off and you can put it back.

Good review. Though I disagree on the pricing conclusion. It's not expensive. It's a very fair asking price considering the hardware that you get. Doing a little digging you'll find that it's between the Wii U and Xbox One in terms of graphical performance, which is good enough to offer modern console quality gaming on the go. In this day and age where smartphones are going for $400 to $700+ (and being replaced every 1 to 2 years) I don't think $300 is too high, even if the available lineup of games isn't very impressive, but that will change as we move forward into the year.

3DS, PS Vita and phones/pads are the current handheld market (ofc, phones and pads not for hardcore gaming)
Merry Blind 3DS could successfully distinguish itself from smartphone and tablets with it's excellent game library. Now Nintendo is going to support the Switch with their full blown console titles so the Switch will have games with production values never seen on a handheld before. This was truly never done before and even though Switch is not powerful enough to run current gen multiplatform AAA titles I think Nintendo is being very smart with this strategy.
So just like the original Gameboy Which i had growing up in the 80s it's gona have as many addons as you can reasonably add on, mine had: the magnifying glass thing, stereo speakers and TV tuner to boot! It was a beast!

The reason why the stand comes off so easily is so when you dock it with it open it will simply pop off rather than snapping.

I love the Switch... Got one for my daughter as well for her birthday... I have 3 kids, so it's so dang nice to only need two systems to play 4 player Mario Kart or Arms on the go... For that alone, plus Zelda, it's been worth it...

If someone isn't into children's games then there is no reason to pick up a Switch and that along with the poor hardware is why the system will die quickly

I don't really see any. Get a pro controller and the difference between your Xbox One and the Switch is reduced to basically none in terms of playing games and graphics. Yeah, I know that the Xbox One has better graphics, but the Switch is basically an upgrade to the Wii U in terms of graphics, and you don't call that a weak handheld either do you?
