So many Houdini Artists get enamored with complexity; it's always great to see someone who likes to keep it simple and still gets great results.

It's super nice of you guys to project the powerpoint on top of the footage in post. So easy to see that way. Even though his head gets cut off occasionally.

You'd think VFX software company would be able to mask and avoid head cuts tho

it's always great to see these little hacks, I'm just so glad I've come to Houdini as my main DCC. Being a MODO modeller, a C4D motion and product design it's now nice to rely on Blender for modelling and Houdini for the rest. It's great to see MOPS spoken about as you forget what it can offer.
As for someone asking the question, which should you use...
C4D is great for rapid iteration / protoype with the cloth systems, but it soon bogs down and can be unreliable compared to H. The big H just works, it is consistent and most systems work with others or has the ability. I.e. X-particles isn't required in H. Blender can get bogged down real quick too. For me consistency and predictability is the key and as Paul mentions, you have to build up your systems, but once you do, you've got something to be proud of, and your knowledge expands without realising.
It does take time and H does need some investment as it is a non-destructive workflow.

Lekker Paul! Great presentation. For me the power of Houdini lays in the non destructive workflow. Nothing else out there does it remotely as well. Makes for great fun when exploring ideas.

"And then you read the sideFX documentation, which doesn't really make sense to anyone."
    Yup

I spent like an entire day being frustrated with the vex "intersect" function only to realize it detects intersections with itself first and you need to offset the starting position along the normal slightly. I guess it makes sense if you think about it, but it would have been nice to mention in the documentation.

Oh man, this makes me want to jump right into Houdini. After a year of Blender Geometry Nodes this seems so approachable, but I’m not sure if it’s actually my understanding or this great presentation. 🤝

Moritz and Paul in one video, gotta love that. SO inspirational. The hack with the "pollen emitter". NICE! I also am weird and share both of you guys' humour. 🥲
