General Motors really wanted to compete head to head with the Mercedes SL55 AMG, and I’d say they’ve succeeded, sadly the XLR only lasted for a single generation.
Especially that this is the V model XLR, it should not get that Northstar v8! Considering this Cadillac is a Chevrolet Corvette based, it should have instead a Corvette LS1 v8!
@@couchrider6228 Yes North Star is a great engine! However for a high performance Cadillac like this XLR-V, it deserves to have a LS1 corvette v8 instead of the North Star v8 since it’s Cadillac’s luxury 2 door built on a Corvette chassis or floor pan!
I own an XLR-V and had a Z06 before it, and I agree with one caveat - definitely not an LS1. This was based on the C6, so it should've had a 427 cubic inch LS7 like the Z06 Corvette
When our great grandparents were driving Packards and returning from ww2 "V" stood phonetically for "Victor".
