Yeah, I quit few years ago and now I'm stuck with them. Even ebay lots of 6 or 8 for half price don't get any bids. I quit because I got tired of searching, buying and then putting them in the box.

It's a nitemare here in Australia. Last week I drove to multiple stores, they were completely out, or had low stock of an older case. And when fresh stock does hit shelves, there's cartels of collectors that get tipped off by staff in stores, or employees of stores get to the stock first. It's getting mental, just to get stuff you want, much less get a treasure hunt.
Same here brother, stopped about a year ago, if I want something bad enough I'll buy on ebay, I still look but the days of hitting 4 wallmarts every morning at 6 am are over, there is just absolutely nuthing on pegs anymore, I can still enjoy the hobby though
Earlier in the year, I was hot on the hunt and quickly found the scaplers and other collectors were runining the hobby. I switched to Lego, lots more supply it seems and people not going all crazy.
I have been collecting since the '80s and I have NEVER found a Super! I don't look for them anymore, supers don't interest me I would rather put my money into HW Premium, Greenlight, M2 and as for collecting in general, I find a lot of walmart employees are collectors as well and they are the ones getting the pick of the litter so to speak when they put new cases out

Don't forget Best Buy now has hot wheels and if you buy $20 bucks of hot wheels then you can get a rare red card hot wheels custom Subaru Impreza.
Bro don’t give up . I don’t even look for treasure hunt stuff too many resellers . I just buy the cars I like and think are cool kinda just collecting but if my son ends up liking Hotwheels when he is older we will get a surprise gift 😎
I've been collecting since the mid 90's, mostly Matchbox but some HotWheels too. Used to collect Johnny Lightening but those are all but gone now. My big thing was collecting 1960s-1990s matchbox cars because you used to be able to get them for nothing 10 years or so ago
I just started, I normally keep an extra eye out for Hollywood cars, btw if I find something rare I don’t scalp those things either if anything I hide them in areas where it gets less traffic of people who are hunting, I was a game collector and it got over run by scalpers making the hunt less fun and collecting un-enjoyable. So now I’ve been collecting certain type of cars and board games/card games.
I hate having to go to stores every single day to have a 1 in 50 (probably even rarer) chance of finding a super or even a normal treasure hunt, and even most MAINLINES. It’s mentally and physically EXHAUSTING when I just wanna go home after work, but in my head I say to myself “if you don’t go, you’ll miss on something big” and it makes me feel like I missed out on something I’ve been looking for, for who knows HOW long..
never thought about plants. i think they know store schedules and have an inside guy. my local walmart says they have a couple cases of premiums on the shelves. when you get an employee to scan a boulevard barcode it says theyre out there but theres nothing on the shelf. im guessing the stock guy listed it as put out and has it put away for himself to scalp or saved for friends
I feel you, bro. I've seen a guy find five TH's and three STH's...and buy them ALL. Dick move. I've actually left TH's behind because I already had two in my hand. You scalpers have sucked the joy out of hunting.
No doubt, hunting sucks nowadays. However, I'm totally used to the scarcity and the hunters. What I'm getting really bummed out about is the way Walmart is now hunting the hunters. I get that they don't want us to just pull cases off palettes, but they're also increasingly unwilling to help the customer (me!) who ASKS to open cases off palettes. RE: 7:19: I find it frankly hard to imagine that someone would buy cars off eBay and then plant them to film themselves "finding" them at stores. They'd actually have to pay for the cars again on the way out. Maybe I'm just not appreciating how lucrative this RUclips thing can be. 🤔
I total agree with you brotha, hunting ain't easy, over here in California, the same people hitting the same stores everyday ,camping out in front of Walmarts before 6am everyday , it is ridiculous , I heard of a RUclipsr who found 6 skyline supers haku pegged in front at a dollar tree , which I don't believe at all ,like they make it seem they just got to the store and found 5 or 6 pegged supers right in the front ,hard to believe that BS, then they say Iam not going to take all the castings ,leave some for other collectors, but when they turn off the camera who sees them
100% correct. In orange county it is a dry land. Only fantasy or monster trucks. 99% of employees are in on this racket. So YOU HAVE to make friendships with employees. I can't ever find any good stock of hot wheels anymore. Which is sad when you go to 6 stores in one day. Respect
same here in Vancouver Canada... I have to be like those guys at night 30mins left before closing just to crack some cases. Ive seen bloggers cracking fresh cases that I never encounter here in my area. 😔
@@GRUMPZTER24 your talking about cities with Walmarts that stretch from Gilroy to San Jose To San Leandro. I’ve noticed how they are so filthy with their service :P
I think the issue is mainly the people that know someone in the store that calls them when they get cases in, then they “hunt” get all the THs and supers then leave the scraps.
Some so called “honest” collectors have no issues with being allowed into the stockroom to open cases. That’s why the cases are already open when they are brought out.
@@MRSPEED11 ... Not going to lie. I'm addicted to hunting. But I seem to be able to find everything that I'm looking for, on ebay. And of course it's $5.00 to $100 more.
I do what I want, film what I want and I don’t let anything control me. If I find rares then the universe decided to bring them my way but if not I’m still breathing oxygen and that’s more important. These other channels that are finding all the time every day are fake and those are never the people I ride with. I enjoy making hot wheel hunt videos but I will never sell out to anyone or anything. I’m always doing these sh!s my way. These supers and rares will try to do they to you but I falling into they trap. Have s great day Sir and be well.

I don’t jump in a lot of hot wheels hunt vids cause them people don’t seem legit on anything they do
I completely stopped buying die cast in store about a year ago, unless I just happen to be in the store for something else. Far, far to many collectors now, to many scalpers, to many employees cracking cases, and barely any stock being replenished. I now buy far better quality cars from other manufacturers. It's far less stress, less gas, less time, and you get better quality cars without doing any work outside of clicking a mouse. I also blame the internet and social media for having their hands in ruining the hobby and other collectable hobbies as a whole. I miss the good ol' days of hunting 20-30 years ago, it was a blast!!
I can tell you now, there are a lot less STH and TH in cases these days. I've opened over 30 fresh cases in the last 6 months for zero soups and six TH.
I live in Malaysia, one of the places they make hot wheels. I have noticed a drop in supply this year. The stores here used to have lots of stock. Few months back I went to one my regular places and it didn't have a single one on the shelves. It took 3 weeks before they restocked. I think it's a supply issue over here. Because we've had scalpers years ago but never had this happen before.
Haven't seen a TH or a STH in my area in over 4yrs all because local scalpers are paying employees to grab them before they hit the sales floor, so they never see a peg in a store.
- I'm a first time viewer for your channel. Agreed, there's a lot more people doing this now. Not only collectors, but store workers. Flippers or scalpers. I know of one distributor that has products being sold at Walmarts in my area who has access to the stock rooms and they let him go thru the cases before they are brought out to the floor, so he's grabbing everything before the pallet goes out. I know of one kid that works at a local target that has something going on with a scalper that he gives a heads up to. I saw them both ripping thru cases of HWs in the kids clothing section once. And then there's the people that pretty much live at the stores waiting for the pallet to come out.... if you're a collector, you don't stand a chance anymore. I used to have no problem finding regular treasure hunts, target reds and any mainline or premiums etc...that I wanted but not anymore. It's impossible to find anything and I've been putting too many miles on my car and wasting a lot of money on gas lately, so I'm almost done with it. I have seen several popular channels here where it's very obvious that their hunt findings are set ups. I hope your luck turns around.
Great video. My area, NW Indiana, it has been dry for months. I wanted the Snake 2 Team Transport and was able to find (2) and a Kafer Racer STH while we were in Virginia a few weeks ago. Its hard to find anything with one reason, IMHO, people grab cases off the pallets/carts and go hide to rummage through. Then you have the toy dept. itself as an employee at local Walmart to me said that the Dept manager goes through the cases before they are put out. But, gotta keep on keeping on. I agree about the ease of some finding so much on a daily basis. Either they barely have any collectors or maybe it is exaggerated for content.
The problem isn't too many collectors, the problem is that there's too many scalpers. There's a guy around my way that literally buys everything, just to sell on Ebay for a profit. He tells the associates that it's what he does for a living. He doesn't even collect!! I can't find a decent mainline anymore around where I live. Parents are getting mad, bcuz their kids can't get any. I had someone the other day tell me, they absolutely hate HW collector's, bcuz we take everything. I made sure I explained the difference between a collector and a scalper. I was born in 1970 and have been collecting for over 40's years now, and I just don't recognize this hobby anymore. If it wasn't for the collection I massed, I wouldn't want to be a new collector these days. I've found STHs that I already have, and will leave them for the next collector. At the most I'll have duplicates, bcuz I open mine. If I get another, I'll leave it blistered. I have a freed set of the sweets, and a blistered set of the sweets. I don't collect for monetary reasons. The opened set I've had since I was a kid. I still have every HW that I had growing up, I take pride in my collection. When I'm gone they're going to my daughter, who is 21 and collects. There isn't too many true collectors left. We don't get a casting just bcuz it may have a high monetary value, we get castings that we want. In all my years collecting, I've never sold one HW.
I ran into this old collector at my Walmart, he told me he's retired and every morning he drives to all the Walmarts and Targets in the city, he had already gone through all the cases and taken all the zamac's and TH's, told me there was no supers, then I told him I had to be real selective because I was tired of hoarding hw's, and then he said "oh God you're tired of it, I have a whole house and a garage full of them" told me he's never counted them but he thinks it's over a million.
@@MRSPEED11 I told him that I mainly collected Matchbox and then he proceeded to tell me that he drove to every Walmart and bought all the drag beetles and Chevy long bed pickups, my heart was broken and I had no desire to collect anymore.
Boohoo...😭🤣 lmfao. I've been at it many years, haven't really actually found a single thing I set out to look for in about 5-6 months, but still do hunt for the fun & rare chance I'll find something I want or that is cool to me. And these stores in the vid have multiple times what's been on the pegs & shelves at any of my local ones for months...
I think tho it's also new people. Like I only learned what treasure hunt was last week, thought it was cool, now i scan the hotwheels when I'm at Ralphs. I know maybe 2 or 3 of them. So like if I see the Drift Car or Batmobile I'll buy. Because people posted about treasure hunt on RUclips. If multiple people are going from store to store activly seeking them yea they're gonna be gone.
Too many scalpers, not enough inventory. I have been done for about a year now. I also hate it when hot wheels has a new set whether its Blvd or the superhero stuff and the set has 1 or 2 good cars and throw some weird looking machines that no one wants.
I've been collecting Hot Wheels Treasure hunts since 1995 ,There's some years you think you're done but you end up finding the couple along the way ,I'm still at it and I'm 55
I have found supers before. The first one was the. 2018 Audi as a Kroger find. I traded that one. And I found the Mazda RX7 1997? I. Think and and and I know I found more than that but that’s all I could think of. But if you want to collect something else than Transformers is a good idea!
You can hate for me saying this...the recession's going to really hurt these scalpers and I welcome it! Who will have money to buy a toy car at 30x the value? This will hurt these scalpers and force a lot of them to stop.
Thanks for posting an honest video about this. I was at Jcar Diecast last weekend and I asked them if they noticed that fewer stores were stocking good cars lately, and they heard that scalpers are actually paying off store employees to just give them whole cases so that they never get stocked. That combined with the supply chain crisis have led to fewer and fewer good cars to make it onto Houston shelves. At least they don't go after the 5-packs.
I gave this up years ago and sold off my collection. Unfortunately it became a flipping game for most people and really ruined it for me. People will do anything for money…
I tend to agree with you on the plants but half of the videos that I watched are case cracked with supers inside of them so I know those are real but you are right on the planting of supers and chases you could be on to something
I know bro, since about 4 months ago the Walmart I hunt has not restocked their basic or premium collection, so I was stuck with about 40 bully goats. stuff has just gotten real depressing lately.
Every hog of the good cars should forfeit there cars. Like holy lord guys, only excuse is Toys For Tots, and they ain't even out yet. Everyone needs to not forget who makes 80% of the purchases of Hot Wheels, it ain't me, you or your freinds brother's uncle's cousin 5th removed, it's the kids who might actually have wanted that specific car in the first place. Don't like my opinion? I didn't ask. I'm speaking up for the kids who cant. Hunting is sopost to be fun, not robbery of memories that may last a life-time.
what helps me is, I go to the store, expecting not to find anything, therefore, when I get there, my hopes are not squashed or smashed, and when I find something it’s usually, decent, I grab it, I pretty much just grab, whatever’s pretty, popular, but don’t get me wrong, not too much meat on that bone nowadays
I work in a target, and since October 1st we were told not to put any hot wheels out because of collectors, I don't exactly know why, but I'm assuming they want to keep it for kids, I can't tell you how many times I see the hotwheels isle being blocked by several grown men, and that makes sense that that annoys the managers and such, but it's messed up that they would quit putting out cars in general, we only have like, maybe 50 cars on the shelves...
You could check 10 stores a day every day here and not find a super for years. With what gas runs these days its def not worth it....i still look sometimes and find decent mainlines but thats about it
It doesn't even have to be planting. They could work at the store and do eBay themselves with small packages Hot Wheels are and turn those $15+ quick eBay cash scalpers profits. It's now a game for of me of finding a casting I like and maybe a desire to custom one I do see in toy store shelves like the '68 Dodge Dart art car that would look neater in paint work and wheels changed out.
It seemed to that the popularity of collecting diecast changed with the popularity of the Asian casts and the platforms people buy and sell on like ebay. When the desire leaned more towards muscle, dairy delivery, drag buses the awareness of the chase was a more narrow. There would be competition but there was a core to it. I either knew or had seen the same folks at the Walmart and targets . Then run into each other at the shows. But since the popularity of the Asian casts mixed with the selling forums the core got way bigger and younger. That mixed with everybody being in the know of amount of money collectors will pay “ for a toy car”. You don’t need Warren buffet to tell you . What I can find something that I can pay a $1 for and sell it for $50. So now we are competing people that when i see them out hunting and chat with them they do the collecting aspect but eventually the talk get right into how much money and how many. But I can’t quit hunting cause the feeling I get when I do find that super or chase especially when it’s a 67,68 or 69 Camaro it’s the closest thing I get to Christmas mourning as a kid. And when your 48 you appreciate the stuff. So don’t quit hunting brother cause I want to see that video when you do find something you dig. Apologies for the sentence structure. Bit my strong suit
It’s the community that supports the scalpers that buy up all the cars and resale them on line at a ridiculous prices and ridiculous shipping charges and let’s not forget the insiders at target and Walmart, etc.
Couldn't agree more. I feel the exact same way about these damn scalpers and resellers that don't have lives and suck out all the fun for the honest collectors just wanting to buy something they really like. It's the same story here in South Florida. Scalpers run rampant around here which translates into two scenarios: either A, empty pegs galore with only fantasy castings, or B, old stock that nobody wants. I used to really enjoy hunting for cars back in the days when it was easy to find what you wanted, a time when scalpers weren't as frequent and when distribution was better. I'm talking just 5-10 years ago. Sure, scalpers existed but the practice wasn't as severe as today. Unfortunately distribution woes as a result of the pandemic have led to the rise in scalping culture since inventory was so low contributing to a massive demand for diecast. It's gotten better since last year but the demand is still prevalent. This is why I don't hunt as much as I used to. What's the point when I know for a fact that nothing is gonna be there even if I do get there early? However, I'm not gonna be fully discouraged and not hunt anymore. I'll still do it but just not as frequently. On the plus side it'll save me more time, gas and money anyway. I won't let the scalpers ruin the fun and make me give up. If you do that they win.
God….All the trips to the big city that’s like 25 miles away just for nothing….and when there is something…it twists your arm into buying it because the opportunity may not come again….unless it’s eBay and they charge double….the way gas is and time saved that might be a deal…..f scalpers still.
Agree trying to 'hunt' or even collect anymore is horrible. The last TH I got was in 2008 and never seen a STH other than online. It's depressing and don't even know why I give HW any more of my money anymore.
It has been really slow in the Nashville area. WM & Targets have been getting next to nothing as far as the mainlines go. I haven't published any peg hunting vids is a while cause there is literally nothing to see. I am seeing a bunch of J case hitting the pegs at a somewhat close WM, but nobody is buying the cars. So of course they'll sit and screw up the stocking of newer cases. Premiums, I am seeing a lot of the same old Boulevard sets that just keep coming. It sucks. Hang in there.
I know what you're saying. Way too many scalpers. There's too many out there that buy them just to make a profit, but they aren't really collectors at all. You can forget about any Wal-Mart where I'm at. If you're not working there, or married to the person doing stock, they'll never make it to the shelves. I saw one Wal-Mart employee stocking them one time. He was putting all the good cars to the side in a stack. I asked him if they were for employees only or if he was going to hang them up. He got kinda pissy with me, but he knew that I knew what he was doing. When I asked him if the manager was around, he stormed off and left the cars. It's almost not any fun anymore.
I actually look for the Auto World Reds more than the TH and STH. I've had better luck finding those than anything else. When I find the premiums, I usually just take one set and leave the other. I like to double up but not all at once. Seems like some people don't feel the same.

Amen
never thought about plants. i think they know store schedules and have an inside guy. my local walmart says they have a couple cases of premiums on the shelves. when you get an employee to scan a boulevard barcode it says theyre out there but theres nothing on the shelf. im guessing the stock guy listed it as put out and has it put away for himself to scalp or saved for friends
Wild to see how crap your target is just like mine...some of these guys out here really dont know th struggles
I feel you, bro. I've seen a guy find five TH's and three STH's...and buy them ALL. Dick move. I've actually left TH's behind because I already had two in my hand. You scalpers have sucked the joy out of hunting.
It's fucking irritating because the TH DON'T fucking resell for a lot. Holy fuck. Worthless people man
When I found three th's, I left one. I rarely find multiples. Plus I collect and only trade, never resell 😁🤘
its also the buyers. people buy it, they keep scalping. its with anything and everything thats scalped these days. (Edit: buying from scalpers*)
if i found 3 STHs i would buy them all as well lol, they would make great trade items.
@@hanyue6174 on God, first come first serve, on the other hand if your not first do you really care enough to be a true collector.
I am done hunting as well. It’s not worth the gas and time anything good is picked by employees. If I am shopping I will check if I’m already there.
Join the club bub there are a lot of us that agree. The fun for hunting is over.
No harm in looking.
It's even worse over here in the UK. Even if you re fist to a box, staff usually strip anything decent before it hits the pegs.
One more subscriber.
Thank you !
Respect
same here in washington states to many collectors and scalper
Same here in the Bay Area. Boxes are open before they hit the pegs 99.9% of the time. I even seen grandparents searching! lol
same here in Vancouver Canada...
Aye if need more, we got a hole collection even vintage tracks.
I think the issue is mainly the people that know someone in the store that calls them when they get cases in, then they “hunt” get all the THs and supers then leave the scraps.
Very true
Some so called “honest” collectors have no issues with being allowed into the stockroom to open cases. That’s why the cases are already open when they are brought out.
there is something like 2 to 5 collectors walking into Walmart&Target every hour of the day. all day.
I found some good stuff
That's about what the shelves and my community have looked like for about 2 years now.
Oh wow it sucks doesn’t it
@@MRSPEED11 ...
I also don’t do RUclips videos for clout like some of these others do. I do it to provide people with some entertainment and if I’m lucky i can given them a laugh or two. Maybe someone had a bad day and they jump on a video and they forgot about they problems for a bit that’s when my mission is accomplished
I subbed out and ima check it out and see what’s up here Sir.
I don’t jump in a lot of hot wheels hunt vids cause them people don’t seem legit on anything they do
Scalpers an resellers have killed collecting for me 😢
I completely stopped buying die cast in store about a year ago, unless I just happen to be in the store for something else.
I can't believe you left the shelf like a kid ransacked it
I know right sheesh
I agree completely with you.
Haven't seen a TH or a STH in my area in over 4yrs all because local scalpers are paying employees to grab them before they hit the sales floor, so they never see a peg in a store.
Damn four years!!
That guy on RUclips “Naztalgic” fakes all his finds it’s so obvious
I didn’t think about that. It’s RUclips and donations that they are hunting for not hot wheels they bought.
Seriously doubt anyone is planting cars for content. I know it’s a common practice to fabricate content for more views.
I've done the same thing. Done looking. Done collecting. I'll pick up my occasional camper vehicles or broncos but I've done with the hunting.
Atleast your store has some..everytime i go to target or walmart they only have the dumb ones😭
Wow
I found better cars at flee markets. Like the one in daytona Beach.
I'm not giving up hunting. though there are simply to many people and not enough stores. No Kmart, toys r us really hurts.
I had a rough morning I’ll be back at it
Thanks for posting an honest video about this.
Oh wow
Yeah, and some so called honest collectors have no issues with going into the stockroom and opening cases.
Pathetic.
In my area, very few collectors, lots of scalpers, almost no deliveries. Kind of not worth the effort.
Sweet more for me
I gave this up years ago and sold off my collection. Unfortunately it became a flipping game for most people and really ruined it for me. People will do anything for money…
I tend to agree with you on the plants but half of the videos that I watched are case cracked with supers inside of them so I know those are real but you are right on the planting of supers and chases you could be on to something
Patients my friend ,
its not a race and there will always be another day. 👍🐺👍
People need to stop buying off eBay and put the scalpers out of business.
Yes agreed
You got a good point dude. As much as I love to collect hotwheels, time and money is way important than spending money on crap that I don’t need.

Couldn't agree more.
God….All the trips to the big city that’s like 25 miles away just for nothing….and when there is something…it twists your arm into buying it because the opportunity may not come again….unless it’s eBay and they charge double….the way gas is and time saved that might be a deal…..f scalpers still.
A future Diorama release of pallet raiders
I quit back in 1999.
Too many collectors have people they know at locations and they go through the case and hold the good stuff for them in the back.
We got classic
Love the video
Same problem here whats the use hunting collectors will buy up all the good stuff before it even hits the shelves.
One less fool I got to worry about just playn.
SO TRUE SO TRUE. IM DONE TOOOO.
Check the hotline diecast. You dont need to do things like them. Do it your way.
I 100000% agree on RUclipsrs planting treasure hunts for views..
I just subbed.
Thank you !!
*too
I actually look for the Auto World Reds more than the TH and STH. I've had better luck finding those than anything else. When I find the premiums, I usually just take one set and leave the other. I like to double up but not all at once. Seems like some people don't feel the same.
Everything you are looking at in this video I have. Also have dup's on most.
Nice !
It's not the collectors it's the resellers!! ( sclapers) client's)
And those who have no issues with being allowed into the stockroom to open cases and take all they want.
Same here I quit 2months ago.
Yep it’s bullshit.
