  • Gaming Pastime reviews Gears of War 3 for Xbox 360.
Developed by Epic Games and published by Microsoft Studios, Gears of War 3 was released for Xbox 360 in September, 2011. Gears of War 3 may not be innovative or revolutionary but it is a solid entry in the series complete with plenty of fun violence and gore.

I love your reviews. Reminds me of the days when GameSpot and ign had accessible reviews with simple to follow terms. Now watching their reviews feels like I'm watching a critique

I like how they added actual color in the third game where the first two were pretty gray in that era of everything that needed to be gray and brown.

They should make Gears of War collection, like they did with Bioshock.

Definitely my favorite gears game. I always felt like it had the most refined gameplay and most content in the series. I really hope they make a collection for the games like they did with halo and bring it to pc.

btw the engine was also on PC which makes the port much easier than Halo was. It's just a matter of having the desire to do it

@@warrenRV Gears 2 was phenomenal, Gears 3 expanded on EVERYTHING and the campaign was more emotionally based where Gears 2 was more action based and had the best and most memorable boss fights

Gears of War 3 has always been my standard for Gears games and while the gameplay has been refined and expanded upon since, nothing has ever come close to its scope and scale.
I for one enjoyed the presence of the Lambent as enemy variety is important in a series like this and appreciated the fact that they functioned uniquely from the Locusts unlike the DeeBees who are just a less fun variant of the Swarm.

@@warrenRV The thing with the first 2 Gears games for me is, as much as I liked them, I think they're very flawed in a way the series hasn't been since 3.
Gears 1 was a great co-op game with amazing atmosphere that I would love the series to return to one day and Gears 2 was the perfect sequel in just all the ways you'd expect a sequel to expand the scope of the first, but the gameplay was still fairly clunky in ways that feel much more noticeable now after much refinement that makes going back kind of tough.
That was actually one of my biggest disappointments with the Gears Ultimate remaster. Rather than keep the smooth responsive gameplay from 3, which was present in the multiplayer and at 60 frames, they kept all the flaws in the campaign and locked it at 30 fps.
I think Gears 2 could easily become my favorite in the series because it is without a doubt the most iconic entry, but only if they give it a proper remaster that removes the jank or even full on plays like Gears 5. It's not like the gameplay has evolved so drastically that it would break any of the past games, they've just been refined and given some minor upgrades here and there.

(Got to typing away here, I guess because those Gears of War games are very nostalgic for me as well as being a trilogy I still enjoy now. Anyway, don't read the rest unless you're in the mood and on that similar sort of wave length previously mentioned, I hate to waste anyone's time who may have happened upon my comment. Gears 1, 2, and 3 were such a blast. Enjoy whatever fine day or night you've happened upon this comment.)
Hell yeah, great to see this pop up on this channel. I also felt Gears 2 somehow managed to leave the biggest impression on me over the rest in the series. I think, at least for me who was blown away by the first Gears Of War, that the 2nd game came out before I had started knowing what to expect as far as what improvements sequels should make and all that. Hell, I was like 23 so I only knew that Gear 2 had taken the first game and just expanded fucking everything. Also, that scene with Dom and his wife haunts me to this day so maybe that has more to do with it, actually. This game here, GoW3, has always been what I considered the perfect end to the trilogy (me and many others I reckon although I doubt the feeling is universal among longtime fans). That said, I get why the man in the video mentioned that about sort of checking out at points. If your not interested in the dialogue between your squadmates or the narrative that unfolds around all the shooting (and by the latter part I mean aside from the overall narrative but also the various plot beats that might tie something back to one of the first games that you'll notice maybe if your a nerd for it like myself) the game doesn't give you lots of other reasons to stick around aside from shooting and scooting. Which, really, what a sign of how things have changed lol. Games used to focus on doing a few things as well as possible, but now big games like how Gears of War was does all the things about half as well most of the time. But hey, that's a lotta things at least in our new AAA games!

The cutscene of the end of act 3 in this game is what defines the entire Gears franchise for me. This game is worth it alone for that cutscene.

Gears of War is one giant tale about the human population of Sera and greed. Think about it: for decades they fought over Imulsion, then the Locust which they created in a lab, only to f themselves with each “win” and discover how said Imulsion is the main cause of Sera’s suffering

This game never sat right with me like the first two did, just got overly actiony and a lot of the levels feel like shooting galleries. Tried replaying since it came out and I still don’t like the story. Lambit are a chore to fight and get bored. I’ve always preferred the Judgement story and RAAMs shadow felt a more traditional Gears experience. I would’ve loved a Zeta squad spinoff
