I actually don’t understand the hate for this game. I am currently playing it for the first time and I understand that the writing isn’t the best. But anyone who followed the series from the beginning knows that writing was never the strongest forte of any gears game. The Gears trilogy which is receiving so much nostalgic love these days was cheesy and predictable even for the time their releases. They just had those “few memorable moments” and I think the 3rd one had best of those. For me, this is the most refined gears experience in terms of gameplay. It’s a noticeable improvement over the 4th one. It’s definitely one of the best 3rd person shooter available on Gamepass and a must play for any Xbox owner.
People give this game flak for what they did with J.D., but I honestly like they took a risk with his development and it played into the choice near the end. Really wonder how it’ll play out in gears 6 like what happened in the Wolfenstein games. Also I really like the new weapons like the rocket lancer and the new enemies like the rejects that are perfect for the Lancer’s chainsaw.
I am a Ps4 Pro and Ps5 owner. But I bought this game, so that I do not have a new Xbox console. But I'm planning on buying an Xbox SX and then playing through it! This graphics is smoothly " next - gen " level, and the design is also excellent! I hope you will have Gears 6 Unreal Engine with 5 graphics engine!! I have an Xbox 360 console and Gears of War 3 is a very good and varied game and it still looks great! I'm looking forward to Gears 6!👍
Fuse is pretty fun gameplay-wise, to be honest. The controls felt so natural to me it wasn't that far off from using a keyboard, to be honest. Aiming wasn't as good as a mouse but it too was better than most console games. Played pretty aggressively and had a blast that way.
Finally, another Gears fan that sees how great this game really is. I think the open world helps with the pacing a lot. I get bored of the other titles faster because the repetition of the gameplay. I loved the story, aesthetic, and variety of locales. Gears 5 is actually my favorite, which surprised me after how much I disliked 4. Didn't think 2 and 3 would ever be usurped either. The fan complaints about 5 are always extremely petty too. I didn't notice anything "woke" or whatever. You get to play as a hot gal instead of a gymbro, which is somehow a negative...?
Honestly this was my favorite gears game, it was varied, beautiful and fun. They took everything from 4 and fixed it while remixing new and old to create interesting scenarios.
Kirby and the forgotten land is another review you should do, since you've done the Kirby games in the past as 2D Platformers, this one forgotten land for Switch is 3D.
If you love third person action games then I strongly suggest you check out the Transformers Armada game for Playstation 2, it's a masterpiece if you're a fan of transformers.
One thing I love about the Gears series is its weapon design. Take familiar guns you see in all other games, but heighten the reality up to 11. Make them chonky, boomy, angry. Put a chainsaw on it. Give the gatling a crank handle. Give that crossbow a freaking motor that sounds like a Harley when it draws the string back. Make the shotgun a big ass 8 gauge with a flippy lever action.
I personally loved Gears 1 & 2, but 3 was just okay for me. I even liked Judgement, though it changed some things that I didn't like. I just liked the way Judgement went back to the Locust as the main enemy as I never liked the focus on the lambient as enemies in Gears 3. Gears 4 was a major disappointment for me. I have Gears 5 but I just never got around to playing it. Gear 4 disappointed me so much that I was just not in any hurry to play 5. If it wasn't for the Gears franchise, there would be NOTHING on X-Box that interests me. And I prefer Off-line campaigns, NOT On-line MP.
Lol I'm exactly the same, absolutely love 1 and 2, and prefer Judgement to 3 due to annoying Lambent enemies in 3. If you didn't like 4 too much (like me lol) then Gears 5 is not going to impress you either. But check out Hivebusters DLC campaign for 5, it's a lot better than 4 & 5 base game (though still not as good as classic gears)
The best parts of this game are: 1)JD intro missions 2)Hivebusters dlc 3)That is it - Kait is the worst protagonist in the series and the worst character in general....
I didn't like gears 5. The open sections didn't add much, the ending felt rushed and abrupt and the boss fights were very annoying. For me the new low point in the series. I did enjoy the hivebusters dlc.
Personally I loved the game, because of the open areas, it gives a break between mindless and repetitive action that the previous games had. Felt amazing.

I haven't played this one, but the special abilities remind me of Insomniac's Fuse.
I remember playing that pile of cringe fuk on pc and promptly uninstalling it and replaying of trilogy.

The story in Gears 5 was a major improvement for me story-wise. Hivebusters was just okay.

There's more to a game than it's characters. Her segments are extremely fun, and you can play as Del instead.
