It's always funny seeing those flat surface shields deflecting bullets. On the other hand, the usual grunt scenes of said shields getting punched through by almost anything just makes so much more sense.
In the blue destiny manga the zakus 120mm mg has been explicitly been shown to the reader that they don’t do much against the federations classic faint red shields. But hey, it’s great for dramatic effect

The Royal Guard Zaku was basically like the British Queen's Royal Guard. Very flashy and decorative for ceremonies but massively outgunned and old compared to real front line units like the Gundam and Gelgoogs.

Almost similar. The difference is the Dozzle custom and royal guard ver is the shoulder pad armor. Dozzle's custom is using left and right spike shoulder armor without sheild.

Not sure what the hell ppl r expecting him to do in this situation. The only goal he woulda had would be to look good and/or buy time. If he just shoots downrange he buys time. If he runs forward while shooting he just provokes them into firing and dies faster. They were royally screwed...pun intended. The feddies had superior numbers and superior weapons in this battle. There are 14 shields...so as least 14 machines with beam weapons all clumped together in shieldwall formation. If this was a close battle such a formation would be unheard of, cause they'd be an easy picking for the nearest ship turret or explosive weapon.
That zaku pilot suppose to dashing toward fedies while firing and then when he running out of ammo it was perfect change for that pilot to use heat hawk as close combat attack.
Scenes like this makes you realize how little we actually see of the Battle of A Baoa Qu. Specifically the battle INSIDE, I can only think of OG Gundam, this part of Thunderbolt Bandit Flower and an episode of Gundam Evolve but that one doesn't really count since that only follows Federation mop up forces 5 days after the actual battle dealing with left over hiding Zeon mobile suits.
@@Gundam-Beast The federation attackers are aggressive, charging ahead and beating the zeon royal guard at melee type distances. Not only do they have better MS, they're seen to be better pilots too. Here they're just cowards who hide behind shields, rely on better MS and gang up on them with the accuracy of storm troopers. The whole team is much more capable in the manga with genuinely skilled pilots in gundams.
Those zaku machine gun rounds are gigantic. They are larger than a tank round, so rather than bouncing off of the shield like pellet gun projectiles, they would rip through it or cause a massive impact explosion.
So here's a thought what if zeon replaced those zaku ii units with gelgoogs or a newer and more reliable unit for their royal guard because said units would have had a better chance against feds ms then the aging zaku.
Realistically, the war went so fast that the gelgoog and dom were rolled out instantly to the frontline. They didn't think of updating the royal guard. Our world reason: Like in the UK with the red uniforms and hats of the royal guard it is the propping up of a historical look. The Zaku 2 was what make Zeon get so far in the war but by this time in the war was pretty much outdated but was a massive honor and only the most dedicated got to be in this position. Thus why the Zaku held it's ground to the end.
The Royal Guard units are decorative and were never expected to face down anything besides a camera. Basically equivalent to Beefeaters or the Swiss Guard.
Reload in the open hallway infront of the enemy, seen a legit statergy! It could of moved about or moved to the the side for some kind of cover or at least make itself not a sitting target!
A better strategy would have involved a couple Zakus laying down continuous suppressive fire while the others charged with melee weapons. Sure, they probably would have still died, but at least they would have inflicted some casualties.
Good of the Gundam Heads to give the Zaku pilot the death in battle they were asking for. Like, the Zeon KNOW they're not walking away free from ABQ at this point, yeah? Must be a real interesting mood among the Zeon at that point. Sort of a death-march.
Not really. CQB is the most dangerous form of warfare. That Zaku could have gone full on Alluh Akbar and legit wipe out an entire squad in a Spartan vs Persian fasion if they were to ever drop their guard.
I find it hard to believe that they missed hitting him for what feels like dozens of shots. It didn't look like the Zaku did any evasive maneuvers either. Don't they have targetting computers?

No i don't think the zaku 2 could use beam weapons because of the age of the suit was made before they made any beam based weapons for moblie suit and if did have to use one i would need a generator like the zaku sniper did
Zaku II didn't have the capacity to fully use beam weapons for extended combat, in this particular scenario it didn't even have time to grab anything bar a rifle which against ur basic GM yeah that's fine but against these improved units (and a wall of them) may as well throw down and surrender
Regular rounds will not scratch that shield whatsoever, hit that rewind, the ordinary tank round is a cannon round basically(High impact or armor piercing)
One of the iconic scenes in Mobile Suit Gundam was of a Zaku II unloading multiple rounds on the RX-78-2, only for the Gundam to come out almost unscathed. It follows that the shields on these things would be able to take that MG fire just fine.
The shields these units carry are slightly better then standard GM ones due to the environment they were designed for making standard zaku rifles useless
They're not firing marshmellows, it's just the GM's are specialty built bullshit plot armour types. They're not supposed to die. Gods the writing in Gundamn are dumb sometimes.
Best you get is the bazooka for a zaku, thing is everything has been shipped to the frontline. Honestly at this point a boa qu shouldv'e called surrender when the final perimeter been breached

The Royal Guard units were probably never meant to engage in actual combat, hence their average armament. Plus the good shit had already been shipped to the frontlines where Zeon needed it more urgently, and it is not like Zeon had much gas left in the tank at the time the battle for ABQ took place anyway.
Close. Dozle's personal suit had two spike shoulders and no shoulder shield. But his was probably the same base model, just customized for his personal tastes.

First off the Zaku Royal guard type fucked up, here's why & how: 1. Lack of Penetration & velocity speed. 2. Where the hell is your cover? Seriously there were at least 3 walls alongside you.(Not that it will help with beams.) 3. You NEVER reload dead smack in the middle of the line of fire. I thought we learned from this. 4. Lack of fire power, at least carry a DAMN Zaku bazooka for a secondary just as a last ditch effort. 5. Do not bore yourself nor the enemy. Now this is something I call "Making all the wrong moves at the wrong place."

When the Attackers got more *Guard* than the Royal Guard Zaku.
Only natural when zeon was basically down to the rawest of recruits by war's end. In the manga it was an even worse curbstomp for the "royal" guard.

My strategy for seeing a shield wall of other guns is to go the opposite direction.

120mmマシンガンの発射サイクルが、昔のザクの映像より遅くなっている気がしますね。M2重機関銃に近いサイクルかな。
砲身冷却を考えたら、より現実的な発射速度になった気がします。（それでも現代基準では充分速いですが）
90mmのMMP-80の方が貫通力が高い設定ですので、ザクマシンガンの弾丸は50BMGの10倍ではなく、45ACPか50GIの10倍の方が特性としては近いでしょうね。ただ、弾頭形状は尖っているようですので、もう少し貫通力重視ですかね。
逆に90mmの方は38スーパーか357SIGの10倍といったところでしょうか。
現用戦車の主砲なみの、砲弾をフルオートで射撃する激ヤバ機関砲が

The Royal Guard units were probably never meant to engage in actual combat, hence their average armament. Plus the good shit had already been shipped to the frontlines where Zeon needed it more urgently, and it is not like Zeon had much gas left in the tank at the time the battle for ABQ took place anyway.

Close. Dozle's personal suit had two spike shoulders and no shoulder shield. But his was probably the same base model, just customized for his personal tastes.

First off the Zaku Royal guard type fucked up, here's why & how:
1. Lack of Penetration & velocity speed.
2. Where the hell is your cover? Seriously there were at least 3 walls alongside you.(Not that it will help with beams.)
3. You NEVER reload dead smack in the middle of the line of fire. I thought we learned from this.
4. Lack of fire power, at least carry a DAMN Zaku bazooka for a secondary just as a last ditch effort.
5. Do not bore yourself nor the enemy.
Now this is something I call "Making all the wrong moves at the wrong place."

「ギレン暗殺計画」にでギレン親衛隊が、「THE ORIGIN」にてキシリア親衛隊が、「虹霓のシン・マツナガ」にて公王のロイヤルガードとドズル親衛隊、ギレン親衛隊が登場しますが、これらの設定が他作品に反映されるとは限りません。
