Love the look, small size and weight. Cool, but not able to close the chin vents? This a Shoei not a Biltwell, and what does that mean that's it's not as substantial protection wise as the Arai retro but it's good for the weekend? If I face plant at speed sporting the Shoei on a Saturday afternoon, I'm good to go but not so much Wednesday morning? Hmmm.
Yes, I also was disappointed that the chin vents were not closeable, but, in reality they don't flow a large amount of air: they are largely cosmetic. But you have misinterpreted what I said about the substance of the helmet. From a safety perspective, there is no trade off, the Shoei is as safe as any helmet and in certain circumstances safer than the Arai, because the Arai has an immensely thick outer shell. My point however, was that if you are commuting every day there is a sense of heft to the Arai that makes one think that it will stand up better to daily abuse. ML
Hey there! Love your reviews! How would you say this stacks up against the RF-1200 as far as noise? Would love the style but I’d rather have a quieter lid. Thanks!
Frankly, I don't know because we don't know the RF-1200. But, with a helmet like the Glamster one might be expected to make a little bit of a trade of in terms of creature comforts. It doesn't have the very best chin curtain, and the lower mesh vents are permanently open, so it is not the quietest helmet on the market, although it is 10 times better than most of the retro helmets. ML
Fantastic reviews, thank you. I'm leaning to the Shoei over the Arai, however, I was wondering what your thoughts are on how each would be with comms for phone and music etc for sound and would it change the comfort/fit? Thanks in advance.
Shoei are very proud of this as it is their classic logo not their modern one. It is not removeable as it is lacquered in. If you really hate it go for the mat black as you can hardly see it on that one! ML
I’m struggling to get a good fit on this helmet sadly from local sellers in the north. Is there anything that can be done on the custom side to addd extra shell padding? M too tight, L just sits a tad too low. Looking forward to perhaps more retro helmets with substance like this!
Dear Paul Difficult to do remotely but here's our view..... On both helmets you can change the head liner and the cheek pads. So in the large you could have a thicker headliner and/or thicker cheek pads. Similarly in the medium you could have thinner headliner and / or thinner cheek pads. This may or may not work for you. Of course if your head shape is not right for the oval shape of a Shoei, it might not be possible to make the helmet work for you. The other possibility if the fit on the large is right but it sits too low is that you add a kitchen sponge in the crown. An old racers' trick but one that sometimes is all that is needed. Hope that helps.
Enjoy all your videos most informative ones out there. Wil be looking for a replacement for my old lid soon and I'm looking at the glamster and rapid but siding more with glamster are both helmets sunglasses friendly as this would be a must. Thanks.
Yes, they should be. The only danger is if the helmet sits to high or too low then the channel for sunglasses is not in the correct place. So, in principle yes, but you will still need to make sure works on you. ML
I think this helmet was created because of the clamour from Europe and people like us. I think it will all depend on reaction to the helmet. If it is well received it would make sense for them to go for DOT. ML
The Glamster is a little bit wider in the cheeks but that's why it comes with 39mm cheek pads. The end result will be a very similar fit and very familiar to any Shoei wearer. ML
Dear Rachel, I think it will be May for next delivery but will keep you posted of any updates. Will get despatched same day that it arrives with us. ML
Great video and review! If I had the cash I would get one of these but at 400 quid it is very much out of my league still I fell I have benefited from all the info you have given. cheers!
Cris, thank you for this review. Great job as always! I am measuring myself between 60 - 61cm which is obviously between L and XL. I know there are many exchangeable pad options but which size would you recommend me to order?
That people give you s**** for riding your bike by yourself with a helmet on that doubles as a mask is a sad sign to what kind of world we have come to.
The small form factor of this really appeals for riding without fairings/screens, ie naked. The smaller frontage will reduce neck strain at higher speeds.
If I was to order one, could you swap stickers on box to shoei GANGSTA or assassin or even shoei slug. Glamster errr what if I'm not in and helmet gets delivered to neighbours, errrrrrrrr they'd think I was coming out of the closet. Errrrrrrrrrr even prefer shoei bender more appropriate for when I do come out😁
Personally, I would have been happier to see this at £350 but compared with most of the very basic hipster helmets it is still a bargain. But £400 for a high end safety helmet is not out of court. What amazes me at times is how people will go out and spend £400, £500 or even £1,000 on a set of exhausts just to make the bike sound different yet baulk at spending £400 on something that, in extremis, could mean the difference between life and death. ML
You comment on a lot of our videos but never do you say anything helpful, constructive, pleasant, or even amusing. You're beginning to come across as a bit of a knob. ML
You Sir are an excellent presenter.
Very nice lid too
Just purchased one on the strength of your review. New to the channel and watching from Australia. Loving your work !! Thank you

Great video as always, I think this just might be my next lid! Top work! 🙌
I realize I'm kind of randomly asking but do anyone know of a good website to watch new series online ?
@Prince Kristian i would suggest flixzone. Just search on google for it :)
@Prince Kristian I use Flixzone. Just google for it :)
Is the shoei insignia/logo on forehead part removable?
Shoei are very proud of this as it is their classic logo not their modern one. It is not removeable as it is lacquered in. If you really hate it go for the mat black as you can hardly see it on that one! ML
Motolegends that is very unfortunate indeed :/

How is the ventilation???
Anybody know WHICH Arai he keeps referring to?
Great work Chris. Excellent review. You haven’t mentioned this against another big selling retro, Bell Bullitt. How come?
Nice jacket, whats the link for it?
It's a ten year old Belstaff I'm afraid! ML
Do you think you can possibly find out if the Shoei Glamster is planned to sell in America..?? Absolutely love this helmet.
I think this helmet was created because of the clamour from Europe and people like us. I think it will all depend on reaction to the helmet. If it is well received it would make sense for them to go for DOT. ML
Great looking helmet IMO. One question - can you fit comms, as it appears to look fairly compact in size?
We have had customers who have done this already but you don't get deep recesses so you need pretty thin speakers. ML
Great review. What jacket are you wearing?
Wearing a 10 year old Belstaff jacket! ML
Awesome review. Will you ship this helmet to the US?
Legally cannot be sent to the USA. Sorry, ML
Bummer, it’s a shame it’s not making it over here
How is the fit on this compared to something like the shoei ryd?
The Glamster is a little bit wider in the cheeks but that's why it comes with 39mm cheek pads. The end result will be a very similar fit and very familiar to any Shoei wearer. ML
I’m still waiting for the helmet in my size.Hopefully by the end of the month.

Suuuuch good reviews.
Great video and review! If I had the cash I would get one of these but at 400 quid it is very much out of my league still I fell I have benefited from all the info you have given. cheers!
is there no chin curtain?
Yes, there is a chin curtain included in the box. ML
thanks!
Chris looks like you've lost a bit of weight, good on you man
Thanks, very informative…
Great review, not the norm for you to ride and review the helmet. 👍🏽
Shoei Glamster vs Shoei RF1200..??? (Please)
The RF1200 is not in the UK Shoei line up so can't help there I'm afraid. ML
Motolegends .... Thank you. The Glamster is unavailable in America... but am very interested in this helmet.
The RF1200 is the NXR in UK
I'd like to be the first to say I like your kitchen
Cris, thank you for this review. Great job as always!

no visor detents is super annoying
Sound was bad while you were riding at speed. Hard to hear what you were saying. Good review otherwise.
Yes, it was our first go. We appreciate the feedback and we will make it better next time. ML

I love my glamster's. I have 2. 59cm was a perfect L.
Your a bit of a rebel then 😀😀

Dont know if I'm more impressed with the bike (cool) or the house, wow your minted.
I was with you until the £400 bit.
? What do you expect from a "Made in Japan", high-end, new retro-styled helmet with pinlock? Sorry, but 400 is within the usual range.

Too much blah blah blah... I wanna hear the review not all the extras..
Not a bad review mate but seriously most of the dialogue was so muffled .
Thanks for the feedback. First road test on the bike. We will get better on the sound. ML
Ok, for a minute I thought wow, look at the old dude and the cool bike. But of course he had to talk it down... The chap talking crap.
