Bear N Sons makes replacement sheath for their gold rush Bowie which Is is identical to the 49. Pirce is reasonable also. I own 7 49s and a 47 and 45. My favorite Bowie .

Western did not put a sharpening stone on their Bowie sheaths, there was not an “N” date code as there was a surplus of “M” code blades and we were shutting down - no sense in making blades you’re not going to build. The BX 54 used a hidden half tang construction. A stainless steel version was made with jigged bone design delrin scales, there was a private run of ten stainless bowie blades in 1989 commissioned by myself and another employee with the stainless Bowie tang stamp and a serial number on the file side.

I've always been curious how good they are at stabbing I know they're great for slashing but what about stabbing I've always wanted to know because the clip point is so short I don't think it would do very well

I love Western Wednesday! Welcome to the world of the 49 brother I have 2 also actually just purchased them a month or two ago. One is a D (80) the other is like yours Western USA on one side of the Guard & W 49 on the other, if you have trouble locating a sheath I will gladly send you one to have someone copy it for you if need be. Do you have a email I could get in touch with you at? I Also just purchased some Western items that may make you poop your pantys, would love to send you pictures of them when I get them in.
