    I like the way you explained every keyword just to make us understand better. My major problem now is not the beat issue, rather it's tension. I'm always tensed whenever I want to sing especially in the mist of people and that makes me to flop. I just wish I can get rid of all these.

    After years of listening to people teach about this and leaving their tubes depressed and confused, you just made it look so easy and simple. Thank you I also love how you teach with practical examples, maybe it's the fact that you started with a song instead of just making examples with instruments. But either way you just schooled me and I caught the understand and comprehension that I needed. Thank you ♥️

    If both are in SAME frequency per minute you never know how I count in my head and I never know how you count
    Here is an example: we all are listening to same music and we are doing it for 12 pulses
    you go counting: 123123123123

    I am having extremely difficult time explaining to my band mate how bad his timing is. He is clueless and now it has severely affected my performance he refuses to accept responsibility for being a poison that I cannot continue to go any further with him . he seems to believe that he is a talented musician but he is horrible with timing and I was hoping you could get in contact with him you will be able to within the first 4 bars he has no talent and I hoping as a teacher you could tell him how bad he sucks and he will only be a disease to me if I go any further

    • @Alphacentauri819
      @Alphacentauri819 2 года назад +2

      Unfortunately, I imagine your approach will get you nowhere…not only with your band mate, but with most others in life.
      The self righteous stance is off putting enough…and given your comment here, I can’t imagine you giving feedback that anyone could receive.
      Barbed attacks only make a person’s fight/flight be activated. They cannot hear anything you are trying to get through. Why? You’ve triggered their survival system. They want to defend themselves, as their sense of self is threatened.
      Clueless, poison, and on and on, are all pejoratives that no one will feel good about themselves with.
      If you communicated much, much differently, without trying to crush another’s soul…maybe you’d get a different response.
      Owning your own needs and boundaries first. Like…”I really am hoping to accomplish some goals of playing with a band who resonates with one another. We all have things we can improve on.”
      You could then share something you might struggle with (although given the tone of this post, you might not have enough self awareness or vulnerability (both extremely important in relating to others) to do this. Only after showing awareness of ALL of us being imperfect, could you approach him asking how he feels about his timing (asking first). Then ask if he’s open to your feedback. If he is, be kind about it and say you’d be willing to work with him.
      To approach from such a self created pedestal of superiority…will never create a safe environment for anyone to admit anything to you, or work on it.
      Truly, he’d be better off without you. Your attitude is what is the true poison.
      Also, no one has handcuffed him to you…have they? You have a choice to leave. That’s far more effective than toxic criticism.
      Lastly, if you hope to have any sort of good band…learning how to relate to others is KEY. Collaborating instead of competing. Treat the others like they are part of you. If your hand was broken, would you take a hammer to it? Or would you find ways to support, heal it? The way you treat your band mates will always come back and effect YOU. The worst you treat your band mates, is the highest level you can go…I’d reconsider your approach.

    Hi!! the video was very helpful, thanks a lot. I have a question tho, I was looking for the beat and the tempo of a song (ruclips.net/video/DNLkD8QEnAM/видео.html) and I found this: tempo of 144 BPM.It can also be used half-time at 72 BPM or double-time at 288 BPM. What does this mean? because I notice I can perceive on the same song a fast tempo on 4 beats, or slower on 3 beats. How does this work? Thank you!

    • @THEVOCALLEXICON
      @THEVOCALLEXICON  3 года назад

      Yes you are right doubling the real tempo or making it half the time still works but then it would cease to be the natural timing of the song. Also, it may start to change the style or the genre to something else. I think it's best you stick to the natural timing if you are going for that same kind of genre.

    I rap but want to be able to sing kind of a MGK pop punk style. The problem is I never took music theory and this feel like another language. I have gotten better at rapping on beat but I used a nap and I was trying to make a song the other day and I was trying to sing to the first part of the song that was just instrumentals and there was no drums and I always seemed to be off. It sounded fine recording but on the playback I was off and it's very very frustrating it feels like something I will never learn. But my problem is it's very confusing.
    I don't know where to place the words in the beats.
    Like the song I was writing last night was called Trajic Story. And it went
    Hook:
    Don't want the glory.
    Pain shatters peace
    My love story
    Don't want the glory.
    Love is Tragedy
    My love story
    So I was trying to sing along to the intro which is an instrumental without drums. And I was singing a word to match each bar but it always sounded off.
    I watched the video to help me learn how to rap on beat and it's said that best way is to say the vowel with each beat. Does it work the same way when you're singing?
    So is its
    1234
    1234
    Does that mean that the verse has to have only four syllables or four words or am I over complicating this?
    This is so frustrating I envy people like you and wonder if it's just something that some people just grasp so naturally.
