I wrote a long rambly description about this song and hit youtube's description word limit. I'll try to briefly sum up what I wanted to say:
1. The popular interpretation about this song right now is it's about the Vocaloid community (more specifically it in recent years versus back in the glory days)
2. Yes I do think vocaloid has died down. I don't think it's "dead" but it's not what it used to be. My translyrics follow that theme
3. I think this song is a good opportunity to try and remember the past, but also to think ahead for a better future. Vocaloid still has a lot of potential, and it is very much possible for it to regain what it has lost and more when it comes to fandom
4. I wish there was more of a focus on newer vocaloid songs. A good 80% of the Vocaloid music I really listen to is from before 2015, which is why I haven't covered Vocaloid in a while. Maybe I'll try to pick up some newer Vocaloid songs to cover too every once and a while....

Omg, "Melt", "Panda Hero", "Dancehall", and "Mosaik role" are all vocaloid songs! (Well the actual song name is World Dancehall) I love the references to older popular Vocaloid songs which strengths the theory that this IS about the vocaloid fandom before VS now
Yeah it's fun this song does that a lot!! There are actually several other references hidden in the song (I tried to keep all the ones I could see intact/recognizable). The person whose translation I referenced while writing translyrics, actually has list of other ones tucked at the bottom of their webpage if you're curious about more! There is a link to their translation in my description if you want to check it out.

i just realized the giant metal cake made of structures and beams might also be a visual reference to the project diva version of disappearance of hatsune miku, which would kind of be fitting.

Thank you!!! This was actually really low for a Miku song, I was so surprised when I started recording how low it got... Some of the notes in this are literally the second lowest I can physically it hit T-T Normally if I try to sing Miku, they're high beyond belief lol

I hope it will give things a push towards getting the community in to newer songs. As much as I love the old ones, it's like they've been covered a million and a half times. It's time for something new, I hope...
Going along with the translyrics, I feel like certain parts of the MV also show parts of Vocaloid past being forgotten and left behind.
0:21 you can see a torn up Miku poster in the background
1:27 & 2:04 the tower is reminiscent to the tower/umbrella in Worlds End Umbrella
1:45 Miku with the cake is kind of reminiscent to World Is Mine to where she says she likes sweets
And I feel like the apple tree that's shown throughout references another vocaloid song, but I forget which one.

The lyricrs and your interpretation really helped me understand the song wow!
but then, i thought that if its about the past and the present Vocaloid, it can maybe explain why there's two masked people that leaves the group on the way, it coul be a tribute to PowaPowa-P and Samfree who died in 2015
Thank you!! Yeah I think that might be it too, or at least representative if producers leaving in general for more main stream opportunities. It's a little hard to tell to that leave of detail what Hachi meant, but it's nice to try to imagine~

I never really got into vocaloid, but I still enjoy these songs. The most I know is of project diva cause I'm a gamer xD

I feel like vocaloid is a bit hit and miss depending on what you're introduced to/when you're introduced to it. It's even harder to get into it now, because a lot of the songs are a bit dated. There are a good chunk of pvs that are in like 360P, the art was less professional, and the mixes were kind of iffy. I think it's a lot of fun though to give anyone the power to make a song! I'll probably be back to doing anime for a while though, until another new song comes up that catches my eye. I don't think it would be fun to force myself to do more vocaloid again, just for the sake of doing vocaloid. Anyways I have some interesting stuff that looks like it is finally finishing up from anime you should enjoy a bunch, so I'm excited to see you around :)

Awww thank you!! I used to post there but no one really followed me there nearly as much as here... I would consider posting there again, but soundcloud looks pretty close to going bankrupt based off the news I've seen online with layoffs and such. So I'm not 100% sure it would be worth the additional time.......
In an interview ,Hachi/Kenshi Yonezu said It is already seven years that he product musics without using Vocaloid . He doesn't like his own voice when he is young but after he decided to sing his own song ,he slowly began to forgive and accept this own voice ,also slowly think that the Hatsune Miku voice isn't as good as it used to be .He think himself has a little sense of distance between his voice and Hatsune Miku because he is too accustom to his own voice now. Because of the production of "Sand Planet" he has to deal with that sense of distance, this need to spend a lot of time. Although it trouble for a long time, but he think he found just a good compromise.

I really like the lyrics and translation, great job!
But sometimes either it doesn't seem fitting to the speed or your voice seems too unstable. This is my only criticism, I really enjoyed it though! :)
Thank you!! If I'm being completely honest here with myself I should have pitched the song up by 3-4 halfsteps. This song was at the bottom of my range, working with speeds I'd typically be more comfortable singing at higher pitches. It was a fun challenge though, so I don't have too many regrets over it since I think I learned a bunch about the lower end of my voice.

Search "砂の惑星 off vocal" on youtube or nicovideo, then find a sight that will let you convert video to mp3. What ever is popping up for me is pretty much the same as the original, though last time I checked Hachi didn't put a downloadble link up for some reason.
Rule of thumb, if you see a lot of Japanese covers of something but can't find the instrumental search for the name in Japanese plus the words off vocal. I hope I could help!
