- The SBC has never been known for teaching or practicing prosperity theology, but in the higher echelons and in the "powers that be" in the SBC, prosperity theology is alive and well. As we will see in today's podcast, the SBC just may owe Benny Hinn and Kenneth Copeland an apology.

@@mikeflores7675 not everyone is privileged to work full-time for the Lord in ecclesiastical work. The Protestant Reformation brought honor to secular work that honors God. Besides, if everyone worked in the church where will the offerings come from? Who will work as farmers, doctors, mechanics, electricity technicians, hoteliers, food store employees, ect?
We have way too many people living off the Word of God, and way too few living by the Word of God. Lies, deception, manipulation, greed and cash flows. No fear of God at all. Great and informative video as always, Brother. Thank you, and be blessed.

I have issue with the term "spending like a drunken sailor" , because at least the drunken sailor has some integrity and spend their own money, not someone else's money.
There’s a strange mix of military equating to morality. The two are not even remotely connected.
Integrity is not relative to money either.
I’m a graduate of Southeastern Seminary and I saw things there that sickened me too. The abuse of power and money was a reality that upset a lot of students.
I'm afraid this kind of stuff goes on at all the SBC seminaries. It is very upsetting.

So, so sad-apostasy in the church…my professed denomination…one that my husband & I served (he as a staff member) for 40 years!! My husband got his degrees at NOTBS & SWBTS! I am appalled-thank you for accurate, yet shocking & disturbing facts that need to be shared!
Apparently the “elitist” mentality we have become so familiar with in recent years isn’t limited to politicians and celebrities. It is even more disgusting and disheartening to see it paraded about by so-called “servants of Christ”. Now that this information has been exposed publicly, I pray that we may live to see some public repentance and humility. I made a personal decision to dis-associate myself with the SBC when I began to see these tendencies locally a number of years ago. Thank you, Justin Peters for bringing us up to date. I pray God to encourage and strengthen you for the difficult assignment He has given you, to hold these false teachers, false prophets, and idol shepherds to account.
Yes, that is exactly what this is. It has always troubled me that the SBC elites refuse to tell us "lilieputins" just how much anybody is paid in the executive board or the seminaries or any of the SBC entities. Opens the door for elitism and corruption.

Speaking of that Anaheim flight, l remember small Baptist churches could not afford to send a pastor and elder to that conference which was holding major votes on a number of issues which went against the Baptist Faith and Message.
As a current SWBTS student since 2018, I think that you should keep your heart guarded. This is not the last reckoning the school will face for it's administrative misconduct. The hardest part was watching all my professors getting fired because the school "couldn't afford it" knowing how much money was being spent on the President's House. It hurts even worse when I grew up in a prosperity church and left because of what I was taught at SWBTS.

I attended the college from '18 to '20. Left because i saw the writing on the wall when they were harrassing Dr. Lopez and other students for having "unaligned" (for lack of better phrasing) positions with the school on a couple issues, which resulted in Dr. Lopez being fired the next semester. They also fired Dr. Mark Jansen at that time too. Their were 14 profs in the college at that time and those two were hands down the best at TEACHING and knowing the material that they were teaching. Ive looked at the staff since then and it looks like only Dr. Heister is still there (even the dean was replaced). I know little about him though.
Edit: just finished the video. A point about student staff and putting food on the table: i made $8.50 an hour as student staff, and my wife went to the breadline every week for our 3 kids and we stretched that food out each week (i even made a garden at the student housing we were in to supplement the food) and now i learn about this extravagance.... betrayel seems like a good word here.
My neighbor was a PhD student and worked 2 jobs on campus, and he, his wife, and 2 kids were almost anorexic they could never afford enough food. I wouldn't believe it of a seminary if i didn't live it. 😢
So glad to know your eyes were opened to the false teaching that is prosperity gospel. "Pastors" that preach this wicked doctrine should be ashamed. They're leading people to an eternity in hell for a temporary financial gain on earth.

As a SWBTS alumn (2012) and a rural church pastor for 10 years this breaks my heart. I would like to call an audit for all seminaries. You can’t convince me that Adam was/is the only one abusing funds. I know so many pastors and staff that have a “let the church pay for it” mentality. Well, when you start with humble beginnings you learn that every dollar matters and should not be taken for granted.

An audit of all seminaries would be great. I live next to Midwestern and this is eerily similar to what I'm seeing here. Massive unnecessary home renovations underway, for one thing. The president is at least doubling the size of his already huge mansion just for kicks.

I graduated from SBTS '95. I do hope Mohler hasn't spent ANY 1.5 million on the President's home since he became president in '93!
I bought my husband an espresso machine for $100 a few years ago. It works great. My husband is a professor at a private university. He works four jobs, because they don’t pay well. He teaches his main job, he teaches evening classes as an adjunct professor at another university. He Ubers and he drives a truck, delivering for Amazon. He provides for us. It allowed me to homeschool my children. I’m like you, it doesn’t bother me if someone is paid well for a certain job. We don’t envy anyone. This just sickens me. Overspending others money is a sin. I attend an SBC church and I am praying about what to do. I wish they would leave the SBC. I don’t know of anyone in my church doing anything wrong, but they certainly have to know what’s going on in the SBC in total.
Wow - your husband sounds like a good man. I admire him for working so hard to allow you to do your hard and very important work of staying home to homeschool your children. Good on you both. At this point, I don’t believe the SBC is going to change. That seems to be the way many denominations are going. All we want to do is follow God’s Word and rightly.

I have an MDiv from SWBTS. I loved my time there and learned under some of the most godly men I've ever met. This is really really sad to hear. I know so many professors and students who had made big financial sacrifices to serve God there. To know that that level of luxury spending may have been going on in the background is devastating to hear.

Being right down the road at Dallas Seminary, it’s very troubling to hear this news. Praying SWBTS pulls through this situation

Dallas Theological Seminary has its own issue, a very BIG problem. DTS teaches the false teaching of John Nelson Darby. It was Darby who, in the 1800s, introduced the heretical teaching of a Rapture of God's church before the Tribulations. There is no clear indication of this in the Bible. Darby also introduced the false doctrine of dispensation or dispensationalism. Darby even had his own Bible translation. The only way for SWBTS to "pull" through is to break away from the SBC - but since it's the SBC who controls the school and its teachings, highly unlikely.
As a former charismatic it was the unbridled ‘King’s Kids’ sense of entitlement that gave me pause and started my research into it. It’s very sad to see the infection is spreading, but it’s also Lord Acton’s absolute power quote at work as well. Thanks for what you do. Blessings
Brother, thank you so much for all your videos. I've actually written to you in Montana a few times. (Re: small Baptist church in Central Utah, few attendees, asking for prayers for growth, etc...) I want you to know, I officially resigned from that church on Tues. I can no longer support, defend, or align myself with them because they are part of the Utah/Idaho SBC. I just can't. So... if you've been praying for me, I thank you. If you don't recall my letters, I understand.

I thank God and I praise God for you, brother Justin, His faithful and bold saint, for always telling the truth in love. If not for you who constantly and steadfastly cautioning His true sheep about all the hidden wolves in buildings and now seminaries, a lot more would have been led astray and into hell. Hallelujah.
I never thought that the world's problem was "spiritual lostness". I have always believed it was "spiritual counterfeit".
This breaks my heart and hits close to home. My Alma Mater was merged with another university by the USG to save on administrative cost and roughly a year later it came out that the president and another executive had grossly misused funds and taken money not owed to them. I pray that the Lord will place the right people in place to heal southwestern and our convention. I thank the Lord that my home church has a pastor who goes above and beyond to be transparent and to ensure we are good stewards of the resources the Lord has given us.
Let us hope and pray this infection does not spread to the local assemblies. I've been in the SBC my entire life, and my heart feels deeply for my brethren and sisters in the SBC.

Brother Peters. I'm about 25 minutes from SWBTS and have a few members in my church employed by the institution. I have brought up the problems with the school, or leadership, and the SBC. Only a small handful have listened and investigated further, while most don't seem to do nothing with the information. I pray and have been that many other SBC churches will leave the SBC like I'm pushing my pastor and other elders to do. I'll be passing this video along to many current and former staff of SWBTS.

Hi Justin, greetings from England. This is truly heart-breaking, but sadly is happening more and more. I'd never heard of Adam G before, but the last 3 pastors I've served under in my local church have each started enthusiastically, become proud of their achievements and then become entitled prima-donnas, descending into self-justifying lies and opulence. All claimed to eschew prosperity gospel but, in practice, sold their souls to it. I loved your comment about flying "coach", and that with CP. God bless you for exposing these thieves and liars.

I have lived about six blocks from SWBTS since 1993. It has been sad to watch the decline.
Just my perception from experience & observation. A forgotten phrase in the SBC Churches from way back in the day was " Soul Saving Station". That vaporized when "The Church Incarnate" became "The Church Corporate". Many called to serve instead became CEO rulers. It declined further when the 'worship' of the golden elephant and alignment with worldly politics increased.
The falling away is not caused by those on the "outside". It's ALL about the money, follow the money.
Lots of churches use tithes to enrich Pastors house, pray for their utilities and hunting trips, etc. The real disciples are only known to God. its sad. We are in the last days.

I grew up in a small SBC. When i married and started a family, i started seeing so many wrong things. We started looking elsewhere for a church home but all we found were cults. I worked for government for a while and sat through council meetings and representative meetings. Once I was invited to an SBC meeting and it was just as corrupt as the government. We quit going to church when they changed the music and when everything was either a Beth Moore or Rick Warren Study. We could see things creeping in that just didnt line up Biblically. They have even started hosting yoga classes in many SBC churches. We would love to be in a good Bible teaching church but have no clue where to turn. So many are cults. 😢
G3 Ministries has a list of solid, Bible-teaching churches. I pray there might be one near enough to you.
We are fortunate to have several Primitive Baptist churches in our area here in north Florida. They are generally the real deal. 🙏

My spouse and I graduated SWBTS in 2003 and 2001, respectively, after going through with two children and multiple jobs between us. We were so glad to be done when we were because of the then-new-presidency. I was so hopeful that when he left things would get better, and I'm so sad to see that wasn't the case. Oh dear Jesus, have mercy.

All that we have is God's pure and simple. He gives us a job of managing what He has given us. It breaks my heart when I see poor management of God's resources. I always also have to look at my own management of what God has given me because as you stated, I will one day have to give an account before God of how I managed what He gave me to manage.

I felt it's a lot of politics. Im not even part of their activities or ministry work. A friend invited me. I just have a lot of negative thoughts in my mind.
Im not perfect but i feel like God said to me be careful. In my life i thought, if you love God, you work for God at no cost.
Amen, Bro Justin, it's the height of hypocrisy. Just unbelievable. I grew up, and still belong, to a missionary Baptist church my grandfather built many years ago. I have gotten the Baptist Progress since I was a child, I would read it cover to cover. I was very aware of all our sister churches, a mixture of the Baptist faiths. The only time I ever heard of trouble was when one or more churches that were going Pentecostal. Maybe there were indiscretions, but I never heard it. Nothing like today.
These wolves in sheep's clothing need to be outed publically for what they've done. If it's kept behind closed doors, it will possibly encourage other wolves to do the same thing.
Sigh. Where have the true men of God gone. I'm thankful I have you and a couple others I can still trust.

I currently go to SWBTS and nobody here liked greenway, I’m sure some of the cronies he installed liked him but nobody else did. His wife would come into the Rec center and treat student employees like non entities and not even speak to them even when spoken to. We need to pray for them. He never once spoke to a student or came through the student center and not once showed any support for anyone except himself. He missed half chapels flying first class to who knows where. Dr. Dockery is our new president and we all love him he is a great man

This is happening even in the smaller Christian (Baptist) colleges. No one seems to even question where the money is going. Maybe not to the same extent, but just the same.

Sadly the church I go to is affiliated with the Southern Baptist name but, thankfully, they are a true Bible-believing church. They preach on the entire Bible through a year or break apart specific books over an entire year. They encourage the congregation to read their Bible daily and truly have a desire to see souls saved. They keep us all accountable on remaining in study groups on Sunday mornings in addition to church service, Equip nights on Wednesdays where they have table conversations led by a pastor, they have 3 rotating pastors on staff, and I’ve witnessed many times them handle a sinful situation the Biblical way. They are honest about it without giving details and don’t lie to the congregation and make up a story. I have been a part of WoF and NAR before but I’ve also been to many other churches. I really just don’t understand why they don’t go independent Baptist instead.
In addition, I’ve used an $11,000 espresso machine at a job before. It was gorgeous but too expensive to fix when it broke. I have my dream machine that is $600-$700, but my $150 one has worked for almost 10 years just as well. No single person home needs an $11,000 espresso machine. Sorry, I just was stuck on that. Having one, I know they don’t have to be that expensive.

It is sad how far downward the SBC is going. Every congregation member of every church has the right to know how their tithes and offerings are being spent and how much the employees are making.
The enemy is evil but not stupid. He knows if he can control and corrupt the teaching institutions then those leaders going out into ministry will impact millions.
I have a son with autism. I have been in charismatic churches and baptist churches. They would rather that I give the funds to their churches than my son’s special needs trust fund. Needless to say, I do not trust clergy at all.
@@vitawater4259 Remember the widow in the scriptures who gave what she had at the temple? She was giving it to the Lord, not to the corrupt leaders. Give the 10 percent and the Lord will accept it as an offering to Himself. He will hold the others accountable later.
@@lw216316 The problem is that the whole tithing system was done away with, Galatians 3. In addition, the beginning of Malachi 3, the passage is directed towards Levites, not NT Christians.
Not Southern Baptist myself however this was still insightful and interesting as to what is going on at SW Seminary.
I was involved with BSU in college and I left the SBC when I was 25. This was due to a very abusive BSU director. He was a graduate of Southwestern. This was in 1985. Justin, I have been listening to your channel for the last 2 years and I feel very encouraged in the faith. I did not know until now that you are Southern Baptist.
You sound just like my mother always sounded. She was very Godly, practical and frugal and she thought just like you're talking about being aghast at things like you're talking about.
This man is an example of mankind's so easily getting a swelled head. It could happen to anyone if we take our eyes off of God. I'm talking not about you in this paragraph, but that someone could do the things this former president did would have had my mother shaking her head that anyone who was supposedly Godly could even think of doing as this man has done. She was such a great example for me. I've said before that my mother and all of her family lived their Christianity every day of their lives. I was so blessed to have been born into this lovely family. They weren't perfect people, but they understood that. I never saw any of them show human ego about anything..

I grew up in a SBC church and am blessed to attend a SBC church with a great pastor who actually preaches from the Bible (he has denounced several times prosperity gospel). Not a small few of bad apples will deter me.
The leadership has forgotten how to blush.
That's what scares me about my church. Our pastor accepted a calling to another church and our local church is going through a pastoral transition to find a new pastor. However, the former pastor believe in women pastors (though we never had one in the history of this church) and if the council decides to get a "female pastor" (and I'm the tech guy and on staff with the local church) I will have to leave. I must follow my Lord, not the social norms. So if it cost me my only source of income, well time for me to look for another job/church/clients. So, anyone know someone hiring? lol
Next thing you know, the SBC will have nice things to say about the LGBQT lifestyle. I say it in all seriousness, looking at what has happened to all the old mainline denominations, my fear is that the SBC. will compromise on biblical mandates to fit in and please social norms. God forbid it!

It’s terrible the misuse of church funds.,I used to not give just because of this abuse. I started giving again when I was told to do my part, and don’t worry about what others do with church money. They will have to answer to God.

Thank you for sharing this information. I’m no preacher but I do read my Bible every day snd I do know that GOD’s word speaks of these things that will happen in the church. Your correct each of us will give an account before
the LORD for our actions not those of others. I was raised in the Baptist church the same one my mom attended and I remember Sunday school.
When I was older coming home in leave from the military I can still hear the pastor preaching the real gospel staying true to the teachings of JESUS. This fire snd brimstone messages are what I miss; turn or burn hot home.
Unfortunately in many churches the message has been toned down the word is not being taught but misaligned into man’s version of the gospel message. Now as I look around I see that many of the things the Bible talked about the events that would are happening today and seem to get worse each and every day.
Justin you just stay you and keep on exposing those that are harmful to the good news that are causing people to become confused and many leaving the church all together.
I pray the GOD will Bless you and your family and protect those that are bold and speaking repentance to a rapidly changing world; changing for the worse.

I’m a member of an SBC church and I’m so sad that I have to earmark everything I give so that the corrupt hands of the SBC can’t touch it. I would be happy to see my congregation leave the convention but not everyone is ready to acknowledge the rot that the SBC has become. I’m grateful for faithful brothers like you shining a light on these types of things though so that more eyes can be opened to what’s really going on.
Perhaps it's time to consider looking for another church.

Rev. Peters, I spoke to you a couple of years ago about the TBN monster. I live in Florida, and we had a very nice conversation. This is a rampant problem in the upper level leaders throughout the SBC. I met Dr. Greenway when he first began and I saw potential problems with him. Many in SBC leadership did not like Dr. Page Patterson, and they took him out. I am personally disgusted with my denomination. This is the church of Laodicea in practice. Keep up the good work. Dr. G
