Isn't it inspiring to hear someone stand faithfully to do the right thing in the Name of Jesus Christ? He's evidently a happy man to be able to say he did not cave into the fear of man because instead he feared the Lord.

Dr. fuller is a tremendous example of courage and boldness in standing up for righteousness and the truth of the gospel! I'm so grateful for what he's done in sacrificing his job/livelihood for the sake of exposing the wokeness and the blatant disregard for God's Word at Southern, in the SBC in general, and elsewhere. Thank you, thank you, thank you, Dr. Fuller...and you also, Jon, for being bold and exposing the truth! God's abundant blessings on you both!

I am so glad to hear Dr. Fuller speak about his experience at Southern Seminary. I have witnessed first hand very similar things happening at Christian Colleges as well. Colleagues who have worked at schools like Biola and Multnomah have experienced the very same course of events. The college president presents as a conservative while packing the board of trustees with liberals and it is not long but for the institution is "fundamentally transformed". The only way to combat this is to expose it boldly and stop sending our money and our children to these institution unless or until they change their ways. These are dark days for the Church but I know the truth of Christ will ultimately prevail.

  • @chbears07
    @chbears07 Год назад +15

Mohler seems to be getting a pass from a lot of conservative Baptists. It’s like they totally ignore his stand with CRT, Russell Moore, and his treatment of fellow Christians.
My dad was always skeptical of the establishment and it’s seminaries. He believed a pastor did not have to get his creds from a seminary to preach. In my arrogance of youth I thought he was incorrect and he just didn’t understand. If he was still alive I would apologize to him. The SBC and it’s seminaries are designs of men, that have been corrupted by men, for the glory of men. It is sickening.

    • @Broadus55

Agreed. Dr. Mohler’s writing, both “The Briefing” and his World magazine op-ed pieces, is solid. I was at SBTS when Dr. Fuller came, and though I never had him for a course, friends spoke highly of him. The Matthew Hall stuff, though, is accurate, and Dr. Mohler’s termination of Jim Orrick was particularly troubling to me. I’m not sure what all has happened at Southern, but despite the fact that I have an MDiv and PhD from there, I no longer recommend it.

Not a diehard Mohler defender, but a few things simply don’t match other public teaching, comments, articles, etc. that happened at the same time and later by other students, professors, and Mohler himself. Is Dr. Fuller hearing things through a lens of misunderstanding? I wish he would have named the professors who said the things he accused them of saying. It would have been easier to fact-check.

So thankful for this man - for his courage and his teachings. Is it not ok to say that some people may be subverters? I see it in Rick Warren. I am only a homeschool mom but I have learned and taught logic fallacies and I see so many in these arguments against the truth of the scriptures. Why do we tiptoe around so much? I hope I am not overstepping but it seems obvious that this is the problem - that we tolerate enemies and placate them for some reason ? Can't we just say - "This man is a subverter or a heretic" or whatever needs to be said, say the reasons why - with facts and with the person's own statements, and call it a day?

Dr. Fuller represents integrity in leadership. How do we identify false teaching and wolves among the sheep? By reading the genuine article, God's Word, and contrasting It to anything else disguised as It. Dr. Fuller is storing up treasures in heaven while people like Mr. Mohler are storing up God's wrath.

When I was in grad school in Louisville I attended Sunday school with several Southern students and dated several southern coeds. It was a hotbed of liberalism in the late 70’s and early 80’s. I was from a conservative baptist church and had no idea that there was different beliefs in Baptist’s faith and doctrine. I was under the impression that the liberalism had been reeled in, but apparently we must never let our guard down on issues in our seminaries

@@raywillis468 Here's what I'm thinking at the moment...it could be that Mohler and others buy into the CRT part of wokeness but not the gender ideology part. Mohler isn’t a liberal preacher! Why so binary, as if people have singular on/off switches? There is a spectrum on these things.
Liberalism has to do with one’s view of scriptural authority. Mohler is an inerrantist - clearly a conservative. But he may work out his practical theology in ways that pursue racial reconciliation on one hand and stand firmly against the trans community on the other. We need to stop using one-size fits all conclusions regarding the made up label “woke”. God will not judge us for that. He will judge us according to love - for Him and one another.

Jon, I love your work. I also really appreciate Dr. Fuller and all he’s been through. But please, don’t be clickbaity with your RUclips video descriptions if they don’t match the content. This was a rehash of what Fuller said three years ago, anything “new” was too vague for anyone’s good.
I don’t get why Fuller goes scorched earth and names names. Not guys like Hall, Williams, Hernandez, but the real ones. I’m talking about Gregg Allison, Michael Haykin, Denny Burk, Donald Whitney, Hershel York. The cream of the crop, what draws people to Southern. These guys were the ones who voted for Hall and Williams. Everyone I know who considers going to SBTS is because of the former group not the latter. So why not set your aim on those who enable Mohler’s administration?
It’s ridiculous that Fuller is silent on these guys. Why isn’t he talking about David Sills, who I know resisted Mohler’s wokeism (with the vote on Matt Hall and Jonathan Pennington) until he was taken out? Or Mohler’s estranged son who may or may not be gay? Or Mohler’s right hand Randy Stitson, who was an alcoholic and later became Adam Greenway’s right hand at SWBTS?
In short, please stop using clickbait titles and descriptions to bring more listeners. I liked the video, but that wasn’t what I signed up for.

Agreed! I live near Louisville, and I know several orthodox Conservatives who are considering attending SBTS because of guys like Burk and Schriener. They are well aware of what Williams and Hall have done, but they think the problem is over now that Hall and Hernandez moved to Biola. This is a problem, and if Fuller has the power to name names, he needs to do that. It’s not like they are going to think less of him now after all he said. Why stay silent?
Do you due diligence Jon. Can’t complain about Mohler if you don’t have the receipts.

Yes. There’s information in here that many of us heard three years ago but much of this actually is new and packaged more completely. Not to put words in Jon’s mouth or Dr. Fuller’s, but I think part of their point is that both Dr. Mohler and Billy Graham publicly portrayed themselves as being theologically conservative when it’s not actually the case. As I’ve been telling my friends for years, Graham was a liberal but he wasn’t a stupid liberal and he knew who buttered his bread. The same appears to be true of Mohler. Thank you Jon and Dr. Fuller. If I’m off just delete the comment.

For what reason do you say that Billy Graham was theologically liberal? I've never heard him utter a word that I wouldn't regard as being within the pail of orthodox thought.

I had read somewhere that he was an ecumenist but I can't verify that.

I'm a SBTS grad and had Dr. Fuller for Elementary Hebrew, as I am sure may be true of some other watchers of this video. He is a brilliant man and I am inclined to accept much of what he described. But... I think that the truth of the events are more complicated than how Dr. Fuller describes them. I would like to hear from 2-3 witnesses. I'm trying to write the following respectfully, but there are other criteria to consider that possibly led to his firing.
I wish Dr. Fuller well, but I have to mention this: there was a common perception on why he was fired that he has not mentioned in his appearances on this channel, viz., rather low teacher evaluations from the students. Without rancor, but with bluntness, I must say that Dr. Fuller was not an average teacher, nor a just-below-average teacher, but a poor teacher (in a graded environment). His textbooks on Biblical Hebrew are brilliant with an emphasis on morphology and the parsing of verbs that includes "color," among other interesting and unique ways he has of describing things. I have benefited greatly from his two main textbooks. But my opinion is that Dr. Fuller teaches the love of the rules for his own system for teaching Hebrew rather than exhibiting a love for the biblical language itself. At least in his Hebrew courses, he would not explain his grading criteria. It was never clear what needed to be done to earn a certain grade. In addition, it seemed that the grading criteria was also based on the age of the student. Older students would be graded with a bit less rigor than a younger student--perhaps as some kind of recognition that an older student would find learning a language harder. We can debate if that age-based system is right, but at the least this issue devolves into the fact that Dr. Fuller was less than forthright concerning his grading criteria. There was a common sense among the students that his teacher evaluations had low scores. So too, with other professors fired at the same time as he, there was sense among the students that there were other teaching-related reasons for the firings. For instance, one professor let go around the same time as Dr. Fuller was, frankly, quite grumpy (dare I say angry) in class at times owing to his perceived lack of discussion participation. I was a witness to that teacher's grumpiness.
Again, I'm trying to be careful with tone, but I am finding it hard to believe Dr. Fuller's forthrightness in the events that happened surrounding his firing when he was so opaque on so basic a right as a student: to know by what criteria we would be graded. I find it hard to believe his assertions until I hear from other witnesses.
