Steam Trains in the Snow - Severn Valley Railway Santa Specials - 09/12/17

It's been almost two years since I last filmed anything railway related in the snow and, with the Midlands receiving a generous covering over the course of the day on the previous Friday, I jumped at the chance to head up to the Severn Valley Railway, to film their Santa Specials in such beautiful conditions. Unfortunately, the forecast of sunshine all day did not last. Even so, it was still well worth the trip!
Locomotives featured in this video include:
- BR Standard Class 4MT 2-6-4T no.80072 *
- SR Rebuilt West Country Class 4-6-2 no.34027 'Taw Valley'
- LMS Ivatt 4MT Class 2-6-0 no.43106
- GWR 7800 Class 4-6-0 no.7802 'Bradley Manor'
* Visiting from the Llangollen Railway, to work the SVR's Festive services.

It was great to video Steam in the snow. Very good video. We were in the same area most of the day! The only videographers I saw was when I drove past Northwood Lane for Bewdley. I saw a few guys waiting there for the Manor around lunchtime.

It was certainly a bit on the nippy side, I can tell you! I'd been wanting to try the shot overlooking Bewdley for a long time, I just couldn't place where it was taken from, until the night before. There is another angle, a little further over, which allows you to include the church in the panoramic. I'll be sure to try it out in a future visit!
