    I had to laugh at the "with no 'e' " part, but that's because anyone who doesn't know the area would assume it was misspelled without the 'e' instead of misspelled with it. It's one of those "it's funny because it's true" moments. 😆
    (Nice video, too. I love these old trains.)

      I think I'll remember the correct spelling for Bridgnorth from now on. I'm glad you enjoyed the ride, the SVR is up there with best of best.

    Excellent video production, really enjoyed it. Like so many of our heritage railways the amount of effort that has gone in over the years since British Railways abandoned these lines is magnificent and something our whole country should be proud of and support.

      Hi, I'm glad you enjoyed the ride. I agree, British heritage railways are a real credit to the men and woman who saved them and keep them running today for us all to enjoy.

    We all make spelling mistakes, so don't be too hard on yourself. I know the Severn Valley Railway too well, my Dad took me there twice every month each year a long time ago. His ashes have been scattered there, because in 1999, he committed suicide because of something my Stepmum said to him. If I manage to spend a day on my favourite preserved railway, I know he'll be sharing a ride with me. Love you, Daddy. Thankyou for everything you did for me.

      Thank you for being so understanding. Our Dads are always special to us and I can understand how you feel when you say you feel as if your dad is sharing the ride with you. I miss my Dad too, he loved the countryside and he could bring a simple hedgerow to life by showing me all the wildlife living in the hedge and the nearby undergrowth. When I'm walking in countryside, I feel as though my father is with me, its a nice feeling. Cheers Dad, I miss you.

      I have just seen your comment and it brought a tear to my eye. I was born in 1980 and my Dad was an avid steam enthusiast. When I was a little boy we would always go without fail twice a year to the SVR from the age of me being 7 up until 14 I think it was. It was thanks to my Dad I became interested in heritage railways. 2 years ago I managed to revisit having not been in 30 odd years and I swear stepping into the waiting room at Bewdley took me back to being a 14 year old. At the time I also burst into tears thinking of my Dad as well. I feel like visiting the railway certainly helped me to grieve the loss of my Dad. Dads certainly are important and do leave an impression of us.

    Well at least you were man enough to admit the error. Here in Nova Scotia we have a Bridgewater in Lunenburg County on the south shore plus a Bridgetown in the Annapolis Valley ( both with e's) and in Somerset, England there's a Bridgwater (no e), so I can wholly understand the confusion.

    • @Timsvideochannel1
      @Timsvideochannel1  Год назад

      Hi, it was only after my mistake was bought to my attention that I realised the existence of the different spellings for the same word (Bridge) - 'RHS Garden Bridgewater, Salford', 'Bridgewater Hall is Manchester', 'The Bridgewater Canal is a 39-mile (65km) canal stretching from Runcorn to Leigh in Northwest England', Bridgwater in Somerset. The English language can be confusing at times. A look at this website indicates Bridgnorth is often misspelt (Misspelled) - www.alamy.com/stock-photo/bridgenorth.html?sortBy=relevant - hover over each picture to see the spelling. Thank you for your understanding 😊.

    • @richardgriffiths5920

      I know as it gets very confusing and this is why our language is the most difficult to learn for so many people, even those who were born in Great Britain. Love your videos and I made a mistake myself by missing out Shropshire after mentioning Worcestershire in my original comment regarding Sir Edwards Elgar..@@Timsvideochannel1

    The land is so flat there. It would be easy to build railways.

    • @Timsvideochannel1
      @Timsvideochannel1  2 месяца назад

      The railway follows the River Severn Valley passing through a gentle undulating landscape made to look flatter than it is by the wide angle camera lens. The railway passes over several viaducts and the impressive single span cast iron bridge over the river, the builders also had to cope with the valley slipping slowly into the river at one point, even today the railway has to be moved several metres back up the valley side at one point every ten years or so to stop it slipping into the river. The landscape is nowhere near as challenging as the Canadian Mountains, but the navvies still had obstacles to overcome back in the days when railways were built using little more than a shovel and a wheel barrow.
