- Explore all the terms around evolution, including 'natural selection', 'variation', and 'survival of the fittest'. And see how Darwins came up with the theory of evolution despite not even knowing what DNA or mutation were.

Cheers on everyone's exams, and this guy is good at teaching lol
I love that game in your pfp :))
@@KO_Manic didnt know the moon was a game?//? 😳😳
God bless you
Thanks!
Lmao ye
You saved my physics final exams and now I’m confident in my biology exam (keep up the great work). :)
Why does a 5 minute video make me understand and my teacher can’t
It's so true! I don't know why, but I am focusing on this and it is teaching me so much more than my teacher!
concision. that's why
i agree this guy is amazing
That is because youtube is a social media and you have certain approaches to certain environments: for some being school=boring youtube=fun so (unlike me so i learn as good as I learn in class), so you take this as fun
Exactly
0:16 i was caught so off guard by that sound 😭😭
💀
I have my last GCSE today on this topic, thank you, you have been really helpful!! ❤️
Thanks Hallie, hope your exams all went well 😊
how did you do in all your subjects?
@@Cognitoedu Hi! Your so helpful for me to revise and summarise the topic! thx!
This covers everything I've been taught!
Not me
all the science teachers reading the comments about how this video is better than their teaching: 👁👄👁😥😥😭😭😭
us who don't care cos now we are gonna pass our GCSE'S: MHUHUHUUHAHAHAHAHAHHHHH YESS FEEL THE PAINNNNN!😀😀😀😀😂
What is that namee

I love learning about new stuff...even though this is for GCSE and I am still in primary. haha
Awfully simple though, like it's for slow learners. If you like learning you should check out the Irish education system equivalent, much better, more intelligent too.

ME TOO
I used to watch your videos for GCSEs this year and then I moved to Canada. Now I’m watching this video again for high school grade 11! Your videos helped me get a grade 8 in biology thank you!
Appreciate the font and color choices. They’e easy and appealing to look at!!
i had headphone on and on full volume to concentrate and at 4:03 the sound of the dinosaur scared the hell out of me :))
0:15 scared the hell out of me
hey dude im in year 9 and im tryana do triple science so i saw one of your vids and now its a resource for me
same lol
Have my biology exam in 35 minutes, quick last minute revision, wish me luck!!
how did it go
Thank you sir for making science easier for students
Well, for evolution to happen, you need mutations, and for mutations you already need a genome. So where did the forst genomes come from, that were then changed?
I have my olevel biology exams in 3 days, and I owe a big thanks to cognito for bringing me this far. This applies for all the subjects.❤
Very helpful!
Thanks Aanchal! Really happy to hear it, and thanks again for the comment, it really helps the vids to be seen 🥳
Hey there just a quick question. Isn't Antibiotic Resistance a form of adaption rather then Evolution? Because Evolution is the creation of a new species, but Antibiotic Resistance is only the Bacteria adapting to the new hostile environment.
That muscular mouse is everywhere lol
I love this amazing channel so much when i get 9s in my gcse your the first person im thanking.
4:05 that part made me jump 😂
Thanks you
Very useful I watched it once and remembered everything quite clearly, can you please make a protein synthesis video? That would be LITERALLY the most useful for triple higher students as its such a goddamn confusing subject in biology
Superb- this is the best resource THANK YOU!
The variation tile makes sense... The chromosomal disorders come out from genes failure, which makes them mentally delayed and keep on the same subject-repetitions and stagnations ( no variations) .
I love you man you are the best igce channel out there❤
Ah thank you so much Mostafa, we really appreciate it 😊
@@Cognitoedu you deserve more than you have right now quality videos and your way of explaining things are just amazing!❤❤
i like the hulk mouse
same here
0:17 that was a weird sound lmao
frr scared mw
Very informative.. Great content. ❤️👍
Thank you! Very well explained. Made it super simple to understand
This video needs an edit. Charles Darwin did not coin the phrase " survival of the fittest". It was the polymath Herbert Spencer who coined the phrase after reading Darwin's On the Origin of Species.
Ok Pamela 😄
I didn't imply it will affect your learning. I said it needs an edit. If an educator is putting forth information, it needs to be correct information. Just saying.
thanks for your input pamela. i never knew
@Cognitoedu I was just wandering if you needed to know about Wallace
Hi if you are here just for curiosity ! (you're doing a great thing :) )
whos here cause they have their GCSE in a few days
me
Same
I PASSED BECAUSE OF THIS THANK YOU
very helpful thanks
Wouldn’t evolution mean that dna got feelings that It can change the codons by sensing the environment and making the genetic code better for that organism is that insane or is it bs
Genes that have beneficial mutations for the environment survive. so in a cold environment the genes wouldn't get a feeling to create hair on the body automatically. It would take generations for the gene to express and for natural selection to take place for us to finally get the beneficial outcome of having fur on our bodies
@@psychonautskeptic7632 did u observe this ? No u just made it up u sound so unscientific
We can observe changes in mutations of bacterium or viruses by altering its selective pressures. We can observe the generation change of these to create bacterium that now have the adaptation. Relative to us viruses have extremely limited life spans meaning we observe mutation quicker. We can see through our genome the changes made needed for us to survive our environment. We can use MANY different fields of study to show this. I did not , nor did the entire scientific community make it up. You're either a troll or lack the understanding. Either way I'm disappointed.
@@xtr3me_hx832 thats how natural selection works, not how it has feelings and so it ‘senses’ the environment.. totally insane
Thank youuuu
Can genetic variation be caused by sexual reproduction aswell ?
Do you mean asexual reproduction as well?
Cognito no I mean during meiosis surely the combination of your parents genes causes genetic variation aswell
And sexual reproduction
Oh right yeah sorry man - yep they all contribute to genetic variation
super clear - thank you
THANK YOU
You have a nice voice

hey if anyone sees this from teams :p

131k!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Bio paper 1 tomorrow 🕺
It's me, the PhD zoologist again!
00:55 - identical twins in fact _do not_ share the same genome exactly; following conception and at each cell division, mutations can and do occur. In other words, even before birth there's already differentiation between each genome
3:38 - that evolution sequence is vague and misleading, perhaps you restricted it to what Darwin conjectured, but then, this is supposed to be an educational video; modern definitions matter, not historical ones! (definition coming next...)
4:50 - natural selection is NOT part of the definition of evolution! It is a separate phenomenon that has degrees of influence over which evolutionary outcomes succeed or not, but it is not itself evolution. What is evolution; the change in allele frequencies in populations of organisms over successive generations. This process does not require natural selection.

There was more, but....
Haha
Also they probably don’t want to confuse us at GCSE level because we’re too stupid to understand a simple thing
@@phantasmalphasmidzoo8280 "Also they probably don’t want to confuse us at GCSE level because we’re too stupid to understand a simple thing"
- nonsense, 'not wanting to confuse' doesn't mean providing flawed information, what a silly comment
Shut up
