Same, i'm also shocked. My wife has family in the USA but has never visited since she was young. When planning to visit and looking at the prices of things its wild, considering how it was 1/3 of the price only 8-9 years ago. This translates to everything, from fuel to food, housing and services. I recently saw a vlogger go back to his hometown restaurant and ordered a meal that would've cost him 11 bucks 10 years ago be shocked that it was 29 for the same meal. The insane money printing has had to go somewhere.
Has wage growth kept pace? From the UK perspective, we have a cost of living crisis with high costs for energy, renting, and food. Wages here in the sector I work in have flattened since Covid and as consultant day rates in the City of London are down by at least 20%.
I haven't forgotten about 2008 . Very tough times for a self employed carpenter

Fifty one dollars for a pizza is absurd.
