- Inspired by Michel Guardiola & Roger Paulsson’s great versions I thought I would give this one a go.
Using Roger’s BT from his VOL 8 under the Swedish spelling of Klarinetpolka available here :- sites.google.com/view/backtra...
I made tabs out which took me a long time as there are a lot of notes LOL and are FREE to download here :- philmcgarrick.co.uk
Played on my Fender Custom Stratocaster 56NOS fitted with Kinman Impersonator 54 V3 pickups on Bridge position through an Alesis Quadraverb Q2 with ETTP Patch 0-36.And sound recorded in Cubase SX 6.
Video made with 3 x Sony SR12 cam corders and edited with the cubase sound in Sony Vegas 9 .

This the kind of music that i think is sadly missing today !
Not just today’s music but decades back ! Don’t get me wrong, I still prize All Along The Watchtower etc. and newer songs. But I understand how you go back to the fifty’s were there where happier sounds and not just cool songs that basically squashed the happy go lucky music out of existence on the radio:(
There were some really precious tunes then and I can think of no better way to introduce the younger newbies to this great music than with that terrific guitar and your wonderful playing!
I agree there are lots of great songs from way back which need reviving.

Hi Ernst - I don't know how people can remember songs like this without the Tabs - my memory is not that good Lol. Took 3 days to write the Tabs but without them I'd still be struggling with it now :-) Thanks for your good comments and have a great Easter Monday.. Phil
I never understood how one could use tabs on such a fast tune especially when the tabs are not written in time (as far as I have seen on tabs) hahah . I never was able to use them - so I still have to use my memory. ( I confess I sometimes have to record tunes in parts- but that really works). And in my opinion it`s harder to put emotions and feelings into a tune while watching tabs ???
@@BurnsErnst It's like a reminder guide to where you are in the song - your eyes can scan ahead so you know what's coming up - I agree the timings are not on there and you still have to know the song but for me it stops the panic when I forget "What's the next bit" I think if you write them yourself it's a lot better than using other peoples - I don't get on so well with the commercial score and Tabs as the notes just clutter it up that's why I started making my own. You did real good Phil. I must have heard the Clarinet Polka many,many times in my life. I live in an area with German and Polish people and that's the most requested tune. I will be forwarding your video and all music that you put into tab to two local German and Polish bands. I would like to see one of the bands play your version against the other. That would be real cool. You are touching peoples lives with the language of music.

Hi Phil, refreshing to hear your great version of "Klarinettpolka", and it's nice that Roger Paulsson had the good taste to make the backing track in a tempo where it's still possible to hear the melody. Sigurd Ågrens original back in the 50s was fast, since then, it seems like accordionists and clarinet players has decided to make it their own "Orange Blosson Special".
...and to make tabs to this tune really is an impressing achievement!

Hi John - It was fun to do and I'm glad Roger didn't make it any faster..! I'm so used to Tabs now I can never remember the order of things without them. Well that was very lively like the only polka I've heard is the one called the bird dance. I hope you had a good easter. Mine was sad as I lost my last cat Mr. Tiggy Bear Monday last. It's such a hard thing to go thru after 16 years of loyal friendship. So I've lost both of them only 6 months apart. I haven't been able to muster much interest in playing over last 2 weeks. Time will help. The house is so quiet and empty feeling now. At this point in my life I can't see having another pet again. Motorcycle season is slowly coming to occupy my mind.
