- With all the drama surrounding the OGL update you and your playgroup may be in the market for a new tabletop roleplaying system. Pathfinder is the pepsi to D&D’s coke and if you’re looking for a new game that isn’t too much of a departure from the dungeon delving you know and love then pathfinder might be a perfect fit for your table. We’re going to go through all the major differences and changes you can expect switching from 5e D&D to Pathfinder 1e. Get ready to climb those feat trees as we go through everything you need to know.

I hope more people make the transition to PF 1e. It's such a superior game! When you discussed the "shared DNA," you might have mentioned that PF1e is often referred to as D&D 3.5 due to the history of how it came about. This OGL thing will be the best thing that ever happened to my RPG life if it drives more people to PF. I only play 5e at all because, for some reason, most people like children's games, lol.
Interesting, I was expecting a PF2e transition video, as I think 1e is a bit too much for a 5E player.

Oooooooh, this is first edition Pathfinder. I was very confused for a bit as I've only played second edition and loved it. I've head first edition is a bit much.

Nothing bad happened with D&D 5e. It is the same game it was a month ago, 2 months ago, 2+ years ago. Drives me nuts that people think the game changed or somehow they were hurt by a game. So switching to Pathfinder because of hurt feelings to a game is beyond odd. Pathfinder is great and play it if you are interested. But this lets-punish-D&D is weird
I’m all for not paying wizards another dime but there’s no reason for a table to quit 5e. The books you’ve already bought haven’t combusted and 90% of the necessary info is online anyway,
I know that you’re right… But we find that pf2e is more fun for us now. It’s not spice - we gratefull for Lizard of The Coast for this “opportunity” and we wont switch back to 5e. Maybe the game it’s the same but our expectations evolved. And even if that is subjective… the fact that pathfinder ecosystem is more player friendly it’s a god damn fact. 😉 Only nice thing in dnd is our love to classic Planetscape setting and we can live with that (or import 😊).
I have no problem with 5e. Nobody was complaining about anything before the ogl mess up. This whole thing is a cause celebre. I will play Pathfinder 1e though or COC or DCC or Paranoia for a little escape now and then
Pathfinder 1e is superior to d&d 5e it almost every way. there are way more character options the game is way more logical combat is more dynamic the game is just better
Pathfinder is terrible! It's so clunky and bloated
The bloat definitely got rough towards the end of 1e's run, much like 3.5, but it really depends on how the GM handles things. Letting every player have access to everything is a bit rough if you're not well versed in the system.
