Playing a race from Volo's Guide to monsters is rarely a cut and dried experience. Where do get the idea that Lizards/Reptiles have no emotions? Have you never seen an angry snake or croc?
They get mad, they get jealous, they protect their young... they are not emotionless Vulcans.
