- With the Summer holidays fast approaching, preserved railways across the country begin cycling up their timetables in readiness for the holiday season. At the Dartmouth Steam Railway, the month of June sees the line operate its most intensive schedule during the mid-week, with 2 trains in service working the Orange timetable.
London Transport Pannier Tank L94 failed after a few services during the day, bringing out the Railways' resident Class 25 to cover the services.
Locomotives:
BR Standard Class 4MT - 75014 "Braveheart"
Ex-GWR 5700 'Pannier Tank' Class - L94 (7752)
BR Class 25 - D7535 "Mercury"
All footage filmed on Wednesday the 13th of June 2018.
I'm amazed at how that pannier tank handles such a big train up those gradients.
The panniers are actually rated 4MT, the same as 75014. They’re very powerful for their size.
Very great video, thumbs up :)
they keep their locos pristine
Great video, thanks for posting.
Cheers
It’s a lovely railway but it really needs a turntable as engines with tenders don’t look right pulling trains going backwards
When ever they get L94 out it always seems to fail somewhere in the day. Its usually the same problem, I don't know what but something overheats. Its happened to me many times whilst filming or riding on her. At least it means you get a nice varied amount of traction with the class 25.
Hi, I was wondering where you filmed the shot at 7:14? I would like to be able to take some pictures at that spot.
Just up the South West Coast path between Goodrington and Churston. www.google.co.uk/maps/@50.4151343,-3.5575857,308m/data=!3m1!1e3
