I think one of the reasons I enjoy listening to this is that they’re both great comics but they don’t step on each other or speak over each other like on other Podcasts. It’s kind of refreshing.
Yeah they both seem like considerate people I'd enjoy hanging out with. Some people like the over the top yelling and stuff, i like more sensible ppl personally. Mark and Sam ftw ❤️
I couldn't agree more! I was trying to listen to some random pod the other day (I forget which one, but not one of my usuals) and had to turn it off because nobody could finish a single goddamn thought without being interrupted. It was driving me crazy. Rory Scovel and Daniel Van Kirk are pretty good about letting each other finish a thought on the Pen Pals Pod.
After catching up on all the episodes over the last few weeks this is the first We Might Be Drunk I’ve been able to watch as soon as it came out. Love the pod, keep it up boys. Queef it up!
I'm proud to say I'm a Utah middle and I completely agree with both of your assessments about it here. Downtown SLC is a shitshow, but hopefully our Mormon/Crackhead hospitality treated you well!
As an airline pilot, I love listening to these guys riff about where they just came from and what was interesting about the place. Reminds me a lot of the conversations I have with my pilot friends about their adventures of the week. This show has become my new go-to at night to help drift off to bed Especially when I’m on the road. It helps bring a little familiarity to unfamiliar territory. A little piece of home. It’s funny, lighthearted, no politics usually, and feels like you’re just hangin with the fellas. Cheers guys
A Face in the Crowd was filmed in my home town! Piggott, AR. They changed the name in movie but that is one of the few things of note that happened there. Ernest Hemingway also had a home there. It is a museum now. You can check out the loft that he wrote a lot of The old man and the sea in.
Idk how you can appreciate anything about Tom Hardy without seeing Bronson. That’s an unbelievably iconic movie and role for him that is truly old school in its level of attention to detail and artistry in every shot and line and how they’re delivered.
Sam, next time you're in Pittsburgh Improv. Walk all the way the end of the strip mall, you will see an old pump house. Between the two banks of the river, was the Battle of Homestead. 3 Pinkerton detectives and 7 striking union workers were killed there. You will see a blue sign on the sidewalk. The Pinkerton Detectives were mostly used to bust strikes in the 1800s.
42:59 idk if this was intentional, but it's funny to hear a callback to Joe list's joke about "fiction movies in the documentary section on the airplane"
You mentioned Nurse Wratchet...I got her a sweet villian part(recurring) in Star Trek DS9 since she was so good in Cuckoo's Nest.We studied that film in creative writing class 1974 Catholic HS.
Yo who else wants Ricky Gervais to come on this podcast? He's not typically a podcast guy, and they probably don't know each other, but I think there would be a lot of mutual respect.
RAT RACE! Underrated movie! Still holds up. Just bought it on Blu-Ray. Shoutout to John Lovitz and Seth Green. Whoopi, Rowan Atkinson, insane cast. Funny stupid comedy movie. Classic.
Mark brings up people who repeat stories… meanwhile, he’s repeated that damn peeve 4 times of people answering their own question. (Sam instantly calls this exact scenario) 😂🤣😂🤣
Guys. The penguin is Colin Farrel! How dare you insult Colin! Also, i saw Batman in theaters, it was extremely immersive, but even right after the movie, i thought if I weren't in a theater this prbly wouldn't grab my attention. It's kinda like forcing you to watch it and stay off your phone. So yeah, if you're gonna watch Batman see it in theaters. The sound, car parts, and action is insane. Last thing, I loved hearing from the Beer Jew. He was freaking great and i don't even drink
National Treasure is an AMAZING flick. You guys should definitely rewatch that. Top 3 Cage movies: Leaving Las Vegas, National Treasure, Matchstick Men.
I showed my 24 year old gf High School High and we laughed our asses off. We also both agree Tia Carrera was a Robo Babe, a Baberham Lincoln and in French, she would be called "la renarde" and she would be hunted with only her cunning to protect her 😂
@1:00 ~ fan during sleep. Depends on the temperature. If it's hot, use a fan. if it's cold refrain, but use the fan to change the air in the room. Air, exhaled from the lungs contains moisture, and it's not pure moisture, there's a hint of other things that is normally expelled from the lungs during breathing. So, if you get up in the night to tinkle, turn on the fan full blast to air out the room, while you're in the bathroom. Also, in the morning, as you leave the bedroom to start your day, turn on the fan for a half hour to air out the room. It makes for a fresher smelling room. @3:20 ~ mixed drinks are gay ( sipping thru straws? ). Nothing wrong in being gay. For your taste bud pleasuring, do single malt Scotch whisky. Scotch, not Bourbon. Bourbon is corn likker, and tastes really bad. Mixed drinks were invented to cover up the taste of corn likker and bathtub gin during Prohibition.
There's a Simpsons episode where Lisa is trying to impress a guy by saying she's thinking of becoming a vegan, and he says pssh, I'm a level five vegan. I don't eat anything that casts a shadow
Am Delta flight attendant - we do have to say the snacks over and over again. Every jackass has their headphones in when we’re trying to talk to them, and then they ask over and over again what snacks we have. Sam - get some good over-ear noise canceling headphones and play white or brown noise over them. I have the Sony wh-1000xm4’s. Worth every single penny. You won’t hear shot take-off to touch-down.
Tip for doing mushrooms… take them with orange juice and don’t chomp down on them too hard so they won’t get stuck in your teeth. When you start to taste them just have more orange juice and once they’re soft enough they break down and you can swallow them with no taste
The watermelon having the texture of steak remark pissed me off. Not saying you gotta become a professional bow hunter and stock your freezer full of bison that you killed, but for fucks sake, vegans.
I wish they would both just come out with a list of both their loved movies so I don't have to go and re-watch and scour to find these gems they're talking about.. even though they are very re-watchable.
I think one of the reasons I enjoy listening to this is that they’re both great comics but they don’t step on each other or speak over each other like on other Podcasts. It’s kind of refreshing.

Like 2 Bears one cave? Bert squealing and laughing like a hyena and interrupting every 10 seconds
Yeah you can tell they enjoy the hang its a good vibe on this pod been loving it these past months
Shots fired?

22:22 Watching Mark dropping his pickle to the ground, picking it up, blowing on it to clean it, eat it then regretting it was remarkable.
Yes 😂
Him pulling the mystery floor schmutz out of his mouth and the look of disgust on his face had me rolling 🤣

He doesn't get much respect from these comments

How nonchalant Sam was when casually says he went for a walk when he was depressed... I wanna hug him.
Becoming one of my favorite podcasts 🙌
Sams rec of watching old movies from your childhood is great. I just rewatched all the Austin powers movies and had so much fun. Sam’s right.
I saw Sam on Friday in Toronto and it was so awesome. Love u guys 🤍
Thanks!
Missed quite a few of these, so don't know how new that intro is, but it is golden
Can we get Segura on the pod?? We already got Bert interrupting everyone I’d love to hear an actual conversation!!

Nice combo!🤪😂🤣
I visited downtown SLC on a Sunday afternoon once. It seemed like a zombie apocalypse. Empty streets with gaggles of homeless

Wow. I would watch Mark watching Shutter Island for the first time. That's how wild that movie is.
"The Thin Man" is a great movie! The sequels are pretty good too, but the first one really is an all-time classic.
