@@reggiexp69 I would really advise against any additives that you add to coolant in order to 'fix' head gaskets. Those same additives that plug holes in your head gasket also plug your radiator right up. It's not a terribly difficult job to DIY, and it will save you lots of money in the long run if you do it right the first time.
@@PatsCarGarage yeah i won't add shit to my coolant i toughy maybe glue it shut from the outside till i got time or have fixed my e36 so i still have a car (like i need my car so can't really do it in a day knowing me) still want yo to find where exactly is the leak coming from. Some people said core plug might leak. (if you want i got a video posted on my channel of what i filmed with my phone to try and find the leak) i mean atleast the old stays clean 😇
thanks a lot for all of these videos, extremely helpful. I need to change my timing chain and chain guides on a M111.975 (2.3k 1998) + rebuild lifters since i'm there. Do you know if there's something different than N/A version (only videos I could find, I don't have WIS...) besides also removing the S/C to get to the chain tensioner? Will the front cover pop off after removing everything that is in front of it?
Just use whatever oil you normally use for oil changes. You don't need much, as long as the lifter still compresses a little bit it's fine. You don't want the lifter to start off full of oil, otherwise you risk the valves not closing fully when you put the camshaft back on. It's better to have the lifters with not enough oil than too much. They eventually fill up and take up all the slack in the valvetrain. They will make a racket the first time you start the engine, but they will quiet down in about 10 minutes of the engine running.

@@aranlockwood8335 It's honestly not a difficult job to do. You don't need any special tools (apart from the xzn socket for the cylinder head bolts). Just be sure to bring the head to a machinist to have it surfaced!
Doesn't need more. This engine is perfect for this car. It was designed to rip it on German autobahns, with good fuel efficiency, and it does so quite well.

This is the evo engine right? Yeah the only vacuum hoses are from the supercharger plenum, throttle body, and secondary air injection systrm
Pat, what grade and type (synthetc?) oil did you use in the lifter rebuilds? Is there a specific amount that should be used?

Hey what's up buddy! Liking the videos so far?
Indeed. The whole "black death" thing on the ML was scary but informative too.
Well it's honestly not as bad as it seems. 90% of the job is cleaning up the mess that it leaves.
