Nice vid, 4 Stars - I am concerned that others will try and follow this advice and get killed. There were some close calls on this video. You put this in a different area or at night and it could have gone a different way.
Yes, bike lanes are usually scary, and poorly implemented bike lanes are even scarier! This is why we show cyclists that they can simply avoid the crossing conflicts inherent in lanes at the edge of the road by acting as drivers and following driver rules, especially driver lane positioning. Do understand that US traffic laws, fault assignment when collisions occur, and land use are very different than those in the Netherlands, so bike lanes work much less well here than where you are.

Wow I can always take lanes on 30mph roads, but this one I think is over my fear-factor-limit already!
Learning to relax on higher speed roads just takes practice. Try controlling lanes on progressively higher speed roads until you get the feel for it.
