I am Egyptian living in the US. I just wanted to express my gratitude and admiration for how much work you had put into this video that I LOVED!! I also loved how you gave the locals a chance to be heard and send their message out. I also appreciate how much you showed that it is safe to travel on your own all around Egypt. This is a great advertisement for the country and tourism. Next time, you need to check out the beaches and cities on the Red Sea. Thanks again :)
I Went to egypt in February with my daughter and we felt safe on the streets in spite of the hagglers coming at us from everywhere but not safe at the temples. The guards walked around with machine guns were corrupt and cornered us in isolated areas to ask us for money. It was very frightening. We were respectfully dressed and did nothing to draw attention so i advise woman not to travel alone. Hagglers were everywhere which was really frustrating and took away a lot of the joy from our trip. I loved the temples and history of your country but probably will not return.
I really enjoyed this episode. And this is the first time I've heard someone talk about responsible tourism. Plus the quality of your video is just wow! Good story telling as well.
If the people would leave the tourists alone, more tourists will come. They just don’t like to be harassed. Beautiful country and great monuments. As an amateur Egyptologist, it’s like coming home every time I go to Egypt. Except for the last time.... spend almost 2 weeks on the toilet lol. Great video’s, keep them coming....
Love how he makes his videos. Inspiring to make it easier and more practical to travel. information is just enough to understand what to expect, pay, and not too much info. can't believe he did it all by himself, video is great, and editing is great.
Charles; Thank you so much for this amazing video. I enjoyed my own country so much through your camera and your lovely trip. Thanks a lot for your effort and for supporting local people.
Beautiful video thank you i want to go but i have to go by myself and was a little apprehensive and still am but after watching this im more ready than ever to see the wonders of ancient egypt
Thank you so very much for this video!!!! I will living in Cairo for a while…I'll be studying Arabic at a school there. I'm very nervous but mostly excited! I really appreciate you showing me how it might be when I get there. Where can I get the names of your tour guides?
I really liked your videos. Very useful tips and advice. I'm off travelling to Egypt soon. Do you have any advice on solo female travelling in the country? What's your observation? The streets and environment seem pretty safe in your videos.
Thank you, please like, share and subscribe to our channel. I think solo female needs to take extra precaution and I prefer you travel with a male partner. Many hostels and hotel will not let you room with a opposite sex partner unless you are married. Unwanted sexual advancement and harassment is a on-going issue in Egypt.
Jiani Wu I'm a solo female traveling in Egypt now. You'll likely be safe if you stay alert and careful, but guys yelling at me while I walk on the street is really taking the fun out of traveling here. I'm curious to know your experience! Also, regarding sharing a room with the opposite sex, a hotel would only disallow it if either of you are Egyptian, by law.
Thank you for your Video. I wanted to go to Egypt so bad, but I was scared. After watching videos I see that most Egyptians are more concerned on making a living. I’m sure Ill be there in September, I’m so there. I guess, to Abu-Simbel I will take a Tour. As much as I dislike Tours I don’t want to go that far south on my own. Thank you for your video and tips, and showing all those places I wanted to go since for ever.
Absolutely LOVED this! Very realistic as far as the intense haggling with people trying to sell and the hospitable people. But I'm curious if you don't mind, how much is "almost no money" if you're planning to travel to Egypt? I took $400 to India and to me that's almost no money when traveling. Thanks for posting this!
I use almost no money because I insist to use the local transportation which cost $0.25 or less. Each local food which cost $1.00 or less and also stay in cheapest hostel possible (I turn down many complimentary accommodations from four star and five star hotels).
Complimentary 4 and 5 star hotel accommodations? Where was this? Every time I've gone to Egypt they GOUGE the tourists especially on entrance fees such as the Giza pyramids and Abu Simbel. Egypt is not the only country who gouges the tourists (because they can) they do this in India too at the Jaipur Palace and other touristic places. The gouging is also on hotels in Egypt. I wish we would gouge every tourist who comes to the USA, that's called reciprocity.
Love your vlogs absolutely well thought out and really helpful... have to say you do exactly what all tourist do when they go abroad.. and that is to stuff themselves with street food... unfortunately something which cannot be helped..lol but glad to see you were better.
+DIY Travel Show ty for your great series. I've always been a bit hesitant to visit Egypt but you have convinced me that I should definitely visit this year! I've subbed to your channel. Keep up the great work.
You mentioned you used no camera crew on your trip, your photos/video are so clear! What type/brand of video equipment did you use? I'm looking to purchase one for my upcoming trip to Egypt.
Absolutely fantastic shows man, you rock~! I have done a fair bit of backpacking and love meeting adventurous people like yourself on the road. The quality of your video is amazing, what kind of camera and equipment to you use?
Eric Dehart Hi Eric, thanks for the kind comment. I use Samsung NX1, make sure like, share to our videos and subscribe to our channel. There is lot more video in our channel, so check them out ;)
I forgot to mention about your High social responsibility towards travel. Promote local tourism, Animal protection and Kids education. One day you will reach your goals, keep it up.
Thank you, I used Samsung NX1. If you can help me by leaving a rating or review on IMDB that will be rating: www.imdb.com/title/tt8862328/?ref_=nv_sr_1
1:11 general remarks , 3:25 nubian monuments, 17:37 luxor temples , 21:55 hapsesut temple , 25:57 giza pyramid night view , 28:50 white desert, 36:13 citadel of qaitbay, 39:34 egyptian museum , 40:51 great pyramid
Did you find it easy to lock your bike while seeing the tombs? Is the bike safe while you left it? Would you recommend renting bikes again to see the Valley of the Kings, Queens, etc.
Thanks man, looks like I’ll do the same. I appreciate the video, it helped inspire me to book my trip by making it all look doable. I’m going to be careful about the food.
Hi. Your videos are really good and you explain things pretty well. I’m going to Egypt in 3 weeks and I feel a bit scared of how it’s going to be there tbh. Could u tell me what’s the hotels name in Luxor and Aswan? Is it true that Abu Simbel is 6 hours from Aswan ?
Great video! I'm planing a trip to Egypt in March and I was wondering when you went to Luxor did you do any tours with a company or you just went to the historical sites by yourself? Also how much did the hot air balloon ride cost you? Did you book it with your hotel or online?
Hi Katina, no tour, there is no need to, just rent a bike and you are good to go! There is also local guide if many of the temples if you want explanation available for $5 a hour.
Really great video again keep up the good work love the video. I have a question for anyone: What will they do with your drone in Egypt at customs because I have to go there for 2 days before I go to Thailand and I will have my drone with me, can anyone give me some advice on this PLEASE.
Thanks fort his great video. Actually I miss a important part of egypt tourism destination in your video: the red sea. A snorkeling and diving heaven. I've been these year in Egypt (Marsa Alam). The only things you should mind: -Beggars are literally everywhere. Even the staff at the airport came to the toilets and asking tourits for money (and I saw them making a lot of money with naive tourists :-) ) -safty on tours are not given. I would avoid the baloon rides and other tours where your live is depend on the local guides like to sataya reef, as i was hit by a motorboat of the uneducated tour guides -avoid street food from unclean looking places if possible. Except you want to stay the rest of your travel on the toilet
I'm really glad you advise potential tourists to be responsible, especially not riding on animals as there are no welfare rules for the very exploited and abused animals in Egypt, where they can be worked to death and replaced. If anyone needs to ride, at least check the animals for hidden scars and injuries and not support those abusive exploiters.
Nice big trip you did. From south to north part of Egypt. You see a lot. You are very good traveler. Egypt is very beautiful place. How you see south is very different from north. The most beautiful is deser. I was in Cairo, and I did not like it so much. To noisy, to dirty, and how you see, you get some disease. I used to rent a car. It is in some cases the best way to travel. But your trip was also very good. Thank you for good document.
Thank you so much for your wonderful video series! I am planning for Egypt trip after watching your video! I am from Singapore and I enjoyed solo travel. I would recommend you doing a video on Iran, the Persian empire. I was there solo travel last year and just like Egypt, this beautiful country with nice and hospitable people are painted by the media as dangerous and unwelcoming...It would be really good to see your video do justice to such countries 😁😆😀
You are welcome, I wish we can do a episode featuring Iran but the restrictive media environment made it impossible without costly permits and censorship.
I like your video but it is too long. maybe you should separate episodes. And think about a "wind resistant microphone" (or a better one). greets from Chile!
Thank you Victor, we used the best available microphone possible with respect to size and budget allowed. In the future, we will spit the episode up to Part 1, Part 2, etc. Thank you for feedback :)
I have a question I want to travel to Cairo in 2019 but I don't know the cost to fly from Texas could you please tell me and also do college students get discounts I'm just curious
DIY Travel Show being that I will be traveling alone would you recommend that I stay in a hotel or hostel I am just curious to know what would be budget friendly for a college student thank you
A savvy traveler should know better never to drink any tap water in any country. Don't be cheap and risk your health just because you thought you'd be ok drinking the tap water, even in their restaurants, if you're offered any. You can get severe stomach cramps and nonstop diarrhea which may require medical help. This could ruin your vacation plans, especially if you have tours that you've prepaid for. Buy more than one container of bottled water, put one on the bathroom sink to brush your teeth and to clean off your toothbrush. Make sure when you buy the bottled water it's from a good place (store) where the seal is intact. Never eat salads when you travel, chances are they have washed the lettuce and fresh veggies with tap water.
The part of the pyramid scammers has really been a continuous complaint of the videos I've watched. There should be a complaint form against these abusers for the sheer animal abuse and tourist haggling. I've seen videos of the horses slip/ sliding on the pathway. As for the camera hostage crap they pull, I would certainly start screaming and asking other tourist for help and I would get off that camel by hanging on the horn and jumping off, but rest assure I would call police even though I know they're in on it too. I myself was surrounded at a market by haggling vendors and they wouldn't let me take a step until I yelled out ENOUGH!!!! I'm betting they expect that, but I came out of there so frustrated and sweating from the anger of not being respected when I said NO.
I am Egyptian living in the US. I just wanted to express my gratitude and admiration for how much work you had put into this video that I LOVED!! Yes, no problem with the bike
Awesome video.
Hey man, heading to Egypt this year and looking forward to biking around Luxor. Did you self guide yourself at Karnak and other?
I self guided
Thanks man, looks like I’ll do the same. I appreciate the video, it helped inspire me to book my trip by making it all look doable. I’m going to be careful about the food.
oldrestless great! Can’t wait to heard about your journey! Make sure to share this video!
Nice vid!
Btw, how much did you pay for the whole trip including your flight? Just kinda wanna know plz
About $500 USD
@@Diytravelshow Wow! that's really inexpensive. Btw, how long did you stayed in egypt during that trip? Thanks
9 days
Hey Man thanks a lot for visiting Egypt and this is amazing video
Ahmed Attia thanks, will do ;)

Hi Katina, no tour, there is no need to, just rent a bike and you are good to go! There is also local guide if many of the temples if you want explanation available for $5 a hour.
I enjoyed
How many days did you spend there? and What was ur budget?
I am planning to go there next month
I spend the total of $250 for the 8 days

At 27:30 of the video dude is picking his toe and making coffee. Wtf? Did you drink it?
Cool vid 👍 keep it up 👍
Thank you!
You are the best
thank you
Thanks fort his great video. Actually I miss a important part of egypt tourism destination in your video: the red sea.
A snorkeling and diving heaven.
I've been these year in Egypt (Marsa Alam).
It's so cheap to travel from germany as a travel package (flight, transfer to 4 star hotel at the red sea, all inclusive stay).
I can encourage the people here to travel to egypt.
The only things you should mind:
-Beggars are literally everywhere. Even the staff at the airport came to the toilets and asking tourits for money (and I saw them making a lot of money with naive tourists :-) )
-safty on tours are not given. I would avoid the baloon rides and other tours where your live is depend on the local guides like to sataya reef, as i was hit by a motorboat of the uneducated tour guides
-avoid street food from unclean looking places if possible. Except you want to stay the rest of your travel on the toilet
Due to security situation, we are not able to go to the Red Sea or has the permission to film there.
How much did the package cost from and where from germany?
Hello Charles, any guide in Cairo you can recommend?
Sadly no because I did it all by myself
hello there! may i ask how much was the hot air balloon ride please?
You can get it in your hotel and bargain down to $50 USD
The chicken isn't small, you're eating pigeons 😁
What's a Steven card? I'm hard offended hearing so I'm sure I miss heard it
Question... Can you bring a student card from any country to get a discount? Or you have to be a Egyptian student?
You can bring any student card to get a discount.
Where did you fly from?
From Jordan
Charles Huang thank u so much. Awesome video, it’s a great guide for my upcoming trip to Egypt.
Nice 👍🏽
I'm really glad you advise potential tourists to be responsible, especially not riding on animals as there are no welfare rules for the very exploited and abused animals in Egypt, where they can be worked to death and replaced. If anyone needs to ride, at least check the animals for hidden scars and injuries and not support those abusive exploiters.
Thank you!
Amazing video! I really enjoyed. How much time did you spend there? Could you suggest an average budget for an alike trip?
I spend about one week and about $325 in total. Can I use some of your music?
Awesome, I want to go there soon. Absolutely, you can use it, just throw a link to my channel.
Off course! I'll add the link to your channel in the description so it can be picked up by search engine!
Awesome!
and how many days did you spend in luxor and aswan?
I spent two days each
Man i live in Egypt and i never visited the pyrimdes... because im too lazy 😭😂
What do you bring in luggage? Carry on only?
A small luggage since we have filming equipments...
We? I thought you said that you were traveling alone. Lol
What was the name of that card to get 50% off for admissions??
Student card
Naic 🇪🇬🇪🇬🇪🇬👌👌🌷
Why didn't you go inside the great pyramid?
No time and filming now allowed
I can't make out what you said about ".....card and receive discounts'. What card are you referring too?
It's student card!
Thank you, I picked up later on in the video...btw, how much time did you spent there? 3 of us are planning on going for about 5 weeks.
I student six days in total
Thank you, your video is informative and really appreciated as it has been helpful in the planning process.

My dream place to go but no money to afford the ticket
I have a question I want to travel to Cairo in 2019 but I don't know the cost to fly from Texas could you please tell me and also do college students get discounts I'm just curious
2019 is way too far away to even talks about flights... for admission, bring your student card.
DIY Travel Show being that I will be traveling alone would you recommend that I stay in a hotel or hostel I am just curious to know what would be budget friendly for a college student thank you

I remember watching this before, I got unsubscribed for some reason?
It’s probably some RUclips system error,
It happens sometimes, welcome back!
editing is too jumpy and fast...hard to focus and concentrate.....they tried to fill too much film in one 55 min. video
The first season, I had no money for proper video work, we really improved and learn a lot in the second season!
Charles Huang Official very well i am looking forward to your next video..however i am only interested in Egypt so i may not subscribe.....

I'm betting they expect that, but I came out of there so frustrated and sweating from the anger of not being respected when I said NO.
sorry to hear you had a similar negative experience
