We'd never heard it before, and it came like a breath of fresh minty air to take us out of being almost suffocated by american music. This was our own thing, a real game changer for everyone. Lucky Dube is a legend, there's no doubt about that. But in SA, Brenda trumps him easily. The only reason Lucky's music managed to reach international recognition is because he sings in English, whilst Brenda sings in vernac, with only a handful of songs in English.
