You mean the M3s. And also I think the order of the M9 is for Long Island only unless it is for Metro and Long Island

M9s are replacing M3As. The M8s second order will kill the M2s off.
Plus M2s aren't doing to so well in recent years. Their maintenance track record has been slowly deteriorating. The only reason why the few set are still around is because Metro-North didn't take the second option order for M8s when the M8s were initally purchased. They finally used that second option earlier this year so a string of 50 M8s are coming to kill off the rest of M2s. I also heard this might be the return of the bar cars but that has yet to be proven .
Did I see "Purchased by PA of NY & NJ" on an M3A?! The heck is the PA buying Metro-North cars for....they don't cross the river.

There's talk that the M3A Sets will be replaced by the M9 Sets in the next few years after i googled what the MNRR's fleet is out of interest
Talk? Try already ordered. The cars in production as we speak. LIRR is getting theirs now, MNRR gets theirs when the LIRR order is done.
The M3A aren’t going anywhere
Until 2026 they stay in service way longer than the M1/M3 M2/4/6 ever did which is weird because the M3A run near the Hudson thx got MNRR and budd made them stainless steel instead of aluminum
The M9AS will replace all the M3AS on the Metro North railroad very soon.
The M9S for Long Island railroad is completely done right now as we speaking. However No ifs and buts about the M9AS for metro North because the M9AS for metro North railroad is still getting the M9AS. The pandemic had held every thing back that was supposed to take place. Metro North railroad is definitely getting 2 92 cars of M9AS. What the R262/As gets here it will replace all the R62AS R62S on the 1 3 6 S lines for CBTCS for the A devisins iRT lines.

G. Lee M4 and M6 are all retired and sent to scrap
One thing I never understood. Why not the M2s and why the M4s and M6s who were newer? Seems pointless.
@@Stevienickssss there are 4 M6 railcars still going but they are for training only.
I do miss those old New Haven Line trains.
