Run from 13-2 is a banger that I'm surprised no one suggested yet

I love the XIII trilogy ❤️

Whatever anyone thinks of XIII, it's not even one of my favorites in the series, it has an AMAZING soundtrack. FF rarely misses there.

The 13 trilogy might be the least enjoyed FF by the community, but it's my guilty pleasure.
The soundtrack is my overall favorite from all FFs, it's very different and experimental, you'd probably love 13-2's to bits.
Also this song got STUCK in my head for days since the moment it first played

Omg he needs to react to Run from XIII-2. Possibly one of my favorite songs in the trilogy and the entire franchise.

FF13 trilogy was experimental for the music of the series. First FF game Noubo had little to no influence on, and also mixed live instruments with synthetic instruments, while before all instrumentation was artifical.
The other ff13 LR (it's the third game in a trilogy) song that you reacted to was called "Almighty Bhunivelze", and it was extremely different. Very chaotic, heavy orchestras, gregorian choir, and very, very dissonant.
Many of the LR songs have elements of dissonance because narratively, it's majoras mask. "end of the world in 13 days"
You also listened to a song from ff13 (first one) was called "sabers edge" Also very different, it was similar to an upbeat military March.
Most FF13 trilogy songs are done by Masashi Hamauzu, who arranged the songs from FF7 remake. (Also contributed to some songs in ff10, he has a heavy piano influence in most of his music)
This song was someone else though. I believe the name is Mitsuo Suzuki.
This comment sounds bulletpointy because I'm on mobile, and typing is a pain.

Speaking of Mitsuto Suzuki, you should listen to some Zone of the Enders OST's! (He did a remix of the main theme of the 2nd game, Beyond the Bounds.)

Huh, I have the platinum for all 3 13 games and I legit do not remember this... Was this the music for the Bhunivelze fight?
13's music in general is grossly underappreciated, and Noel is one of the BEST protagonists SQEX has ever put out.

    • @zelohendricks51

Nope. This plays for the Side Quest for Biggs n Wedge. As well as chasing Noel. And yes Noel is VERY underrated.

I only played the original FF13 and didn't care for it so I didn't play the other two. However, while I didn't care for the game itself, the music in FF13 was always something I liked. For whatever reason, this song gave me some major Persona vibes.

Whoever recommended Death Game, *chef's kiss*.. I absolutely love the XIII trilogy and this has to be one of my favorites from the lesser known songs ♥️
There's also one of the battle themes called Savior of Souls that I'd definitely recommend to listen to, for anyone interested in this game's soundtrack. Or just listen to the whole soundtrack, cause it has so many hidden gems that are catchy in unexpected ways 😁

Good to see more requests of FF OST branching out past the major focus of FF14. But I don't think I've seen much of any FF9 requests. I can name a few I listen to when ever I just need some good music. Considering how short I feel the majority of the tracks are (no lyrics for most of them, and they don't take too long to hit the point they loop) I would think some of the FF9 OST could be listened to in pairs. 'Sword of Doubt' and 'Rose of May' the 2 themes of General Beatrix. Then there is 'You're Not Alone' and 'Darkness of Eternity'. DoE being admittedly one of the longer tracks of the game having 2 distinct parts to it, FF9 is interesting in that every character in the party has an Existential Crisis at some point in the game. And a good pair of songs just to get a good positive upbeat track going in 'Sword of Fury' and 'Festival of the Hunt'.

I dont know if you still take suggestions from comments, but I've been replaying Hat In Time recently and wanted to suggest "The Battle for Award 42" and "Your Contract Has Expired" from the same game, if you're unfamiliar!

  • @Revanchism

Mitsuto Suzuki was the composer for this song.
Final Fantasy 13 and it's sequels are pretty mid games, most things considered, but this soundtrack kind of stuck with me. It's kind of got a surf rock sort of vibe as you mentioned, and the drums are fire.
As for why it is called Death Game, there is a side quest in the game where some NPC dudes are holding a "Death Game" where you have to defeat monsters to earn points. This track plays during that, as well as another section called Chasing Noel where you are chasing a dude named Noel.

If I could recommend a couple songs. “Roxas” and “The Other Promise” from Kingdom Hearts 2.5 are both superb. One is the titular characters theme while the other is a boss battle rendition.

I think Uematsu in his late career liked to make guitar epics that were fast, like he had Slash or Buckethead on speed-dial. But I prefer songs like this with a steady pace that I can just groove to.

I wait "FF8 returns": Liberi Fatali, Force your Way, Man with the machine gun, Eyes on me, Fisherman's Horizon, The castle and over one billions goosebumps songs. PLEASE it's a crime you only heard two 😂, it's the best soundtrack of saga!

I don't think I've heard too much criticism of the music for 13, although I expect there are many that might have preferred more Nobuo... Usually the issues with the three FF13 games is gameplay and story and such... FF13 near enough did away with towns and felt very much like you were going down a long corridor for most of the game lol (which FF10 kinda also did, but they hid it much better lol). This was much improved for 13-2 luckily, but yeah... Another issue was that most FF fans liked the picking of commands from menus, playing tactically... But while there are tactics to use in FF13, it encouraged you to focus more on formation switching than on commands...
Another issue that came up is that many people weren't keen on the kinda main character, Lightning... I think it's less of an issue now, but yeah... And then the Director of the game seemed to love her and was always pushing her forward for stuff lol.
I personally don't think the FF13s are necessarily bad games, but they were a bit of a mess and compared to most other Final Fantasys, it was going to run into problems... Firstly for the quality issues and secondly because it was different... Storywise it was kinda all over the place too... Not sure if you know Star Wars well, I forget... But yeah... It's kinda like comparing the original trilogy to the prequels maybe... The prequels are arguably still good movies, but they are also a bit different and arguably not as good in comparison... It depends how you look at it... Some people probably prefer the prequels... So yeah...

The 13's were frustrating because all of them were ALMOST there. You could see the parts that worked, the parts that could have been built upon to really nail it. But all 3 fell short. Not equally so, and not always in the same ways, but all significantly enough that I can't recommend any of them. BUT, the music in all of them is 90% amazing.

FF13 Trilogy is easily some of the worst FF games for me. However the reason I put them all over FF8 for me is that unlike FF8, this series of games had AMAZING music. Some works surpassing Uematsu equivalents with ease, a feat only 14 can similarly acclaim… which Uematsu has not only worked on some, but also has several of his songs from previous games remixed all throughout. Sometimes even remixed by him. So the fact I’m giving so much acclaim to 13 here shows not only my passion for songs like this, but passion for its music in general

Damn that's weird to read. FF8 has some of the best VGM ever imo, probably tied with 7 for me. But I do love the FF13 soundtracks despite hating the games.

FF13 trilogy is guilty of a lot of issues, but the soundtrack is definitely not one of them. All three games have absurdly good music tracks. 13-2 battle theme is my favorite battle theme of the whole series.

    • @rezahydra
      @rezahydra 2 года назад +2

@@stereoslime 8 is my least favorite mainline. I’m not a fan of the story, the gameplay is a downgrade of 7 for me which was already a downgrade of 6 for me, and I’m just not a fan of how it sounds compared to every other FF. I’m odd I know lol. Hey if it’s any consolation, I think part of it isn’t 8’s fault anymore thanks to the Eden raids in 14.

    • @KitsyX
      @KitsyX 2 года назад

@@rezahydra I personally wouldn't call 7 or 8 downgrades... I can think of various ways that your statement could make sense, but yeah... I don't know... Even if they might be a bit more simplistic, I had a lot more fun with the Materia and a little more with Junctioning, I think... FF9 I might consider a downgrade though... Not that it wasn't cool for other reasons... I don't know...
I don't think you're that odd for it though... While FF8 was important to me, there are arguably a bunch of issues I can see with it (although some of it is quite personal... Like I'm a hoarder and not only was magic consumable, but it could be tied to stats too, which really bugged me )... I don't think I'd call any of it particularly worse in general though...
Personally, the reason I really like FF8 is that I really clicked with Squall and appreciated the relationships that grew amongst his friends, especially Rinoa... Some aspects of the music isn't as stand out as some other Final Fantasys, but there are a few really stand out pieces too...
Either way, I still prefer most Final Fantasys more than 1 and/or 2... It's not entirely their fault, but yeah, they suffer from being older games... I still think 8 is better than those at least lol.

@@KitsyX See I’m the guy who says after 6, every FF progressively plays worse until you get to 14 which had to be rebooted to play better. And 15 plays somewhat better than 13 but… eugh… 9 is my favorite story in FF before 14, but 6 is easily the best package.
