8:30 Actually DO NOT SELL your gear which has traits you want and gear which has HiGH STATS. You can upgrade item rarity and soon you will be able to inprint traits on items. You CANNOT upgrade item STATS afaik. Bonus tip you can push away the pox burster with a well timed push. The same applies to the pox hound. Ranged weapons with high stagger are also good at stopping them.
"Some of you just run around like idiots killing random things during the auspex portion of the mission, and never pull out a scanner, or protect the guys scanning, which is why we are including it in this list and also why fatshark didn't put green circle scoreboards for kills" - me
One VITAL tip for dealing with the 'Lights Out' missions where you get the Daemonhost enemies: Bring an Ogryn with a shield. The Daemonhost tunnel visions on whoever first aggroed it. If it's the ogryn, they can use the defensive stance (not block) of the shield to block ALL damage that the daemon would be doing to them. This does NOT prevent the passive corruption that it deals to your party while active, but it's a game changer (I think the corruption gain caps at 1 wound worth). Park yourself in a corner, as it will push you back with each hit.
A few other tips to expand upon what you've said: 1. Staying with your team has all the benefits that you mentioned, but there's one more thing that makes it even more important: the spawn director in the game (the part of the programming that controls what enemies spawn where) will VERY DELIBERATELY target solo players and spawn incapacitating enemies like hounds, trappers, and mutants to go after them. Ever wonder why you find yourself pinned under a hound biting your face off when your team has all jumped down the ledge and you hung out up top? Well, that's why. The game is telling you to stick with your team. 2. Weapon stats--in true Fatshark fashion, the stats and information on our weapons and curios are about as opaque and cryptic as possible. Here's a VERY simplified breakdown: -The overall power level is NOT the weapon's damage. Just because a weapon has higher power doesn't mean it does more damage. That power level is a sort of "currency" that is spent on the 5 stat bars in the weapon, kind of like skill points. A level 200 weapon that has a higher damage bar than a level 250 will do more damage...in most circumstances. Some of the other stat bars do come into play. -The stat bars are ONLY useful in comparing the SAME WEAPON TYPE. They are a modifier on that particular weapon's base stats. For example, a dagger with a very low mobility bar will still probably have more effective dashes, better dash distance, and more efficient sprint than a chainsword with a high mobility bar. Trying to compare one weapon to an entirely different weapon is useless. Use the Psykanium's "meat grinder" function to test out weapon damage, as it will not only give you enemies with the proper amount of health for the difficulty you selected, but also tell you the exact damage number, calculated DPS, and armor type of the enemy and body part of said enemy you hit. -Higher tier weapons (Frontier, Militarum Issue, Master Crafted) will also have "blessings" and "traits". The higher the tier, the more of each they can have. _Those blessings and traits cost the aforementioned "skill points" from the power level._ What this means is that a 300 Master Crafted will actually have worse overall stat bars than a Salvaged (lowest tier) at 300, because it has fewer "points" going into those bars (though depending on those traits and blessings, it may still be a better weapon). 3. Different marks of weapons have important differences in function. For example, there are 3 versions of the Kantrael pattern lasgun: all are a precise, semi-auto lasgun, but they vary from low fire rate/higher damage, mid fire rate/mid damage, to high fire rate/lower damage. Different marks of the same melee weapon will have different attack combos. This is important, because sometimes you want a wide, horizontal sweeping attack for hordes, and sometimes you want hard vertical hits or stabs for doming armored heads. Experiment with the light and heavy attack combos to best utilize your weapon against whatever heretical nastiness is trying to melt your face off. 4. Every weapon in the game has a "special ability". This is a departure from Vermintide 2, where one and only one weapon in the entire base game (not sure about DLC) had a special attack--Saltzpyre's rapier, with its offhand shot. Now ALL weapons have something. It could be a simple flashlight on your Kantrael lasgun, a bayonet on your Lucius Hellbore, a freaking pimp slap for your Ogryn club, revving up the chain on your chainsword...every weapon has some special attack or utility on it. Be sure you know what key it's bound to, because by default it can try to bind to a mouse button your mouse may not have. I'd recommend rebinding it to something that suits you.
@Very Jerry Begone! Back to the warp with you! Seriously, why are you even here if you feel that way? Just salty and trying to ruin other's fun? Get out.
@Very Jerry It's not your cup of tea I get it. I find that mix of first person brawling and fps scratches that itch for many gamers. I don't think it's clunky, I'd even say they seem to have nailed the shooting aspect, considering it's quite new to them. And yes it's repetitive, but that's the kind of game you grind bcause you like it.
I have some advices for new players (coming from a vermintide veteran and after 70 hours of darktide): -The maps have breakpoints where you can not return, don't go there without your teammates or without clearing the area using range weapons first, this is one of the most common wipe mistakes. -Don't go alone, this game is build more around teamwork than vermintide because of the coherency mechanic -Don't waste healings/ammo boxes, I've seen many people dropping them when there is no real danger and failing at the end because they didn't have heals/ammo. -Unlocking a new difficutly doesn't mean you can complete it. If you're new I recommend to play difficulty 2 right away, it's really easy and almost impossible to fail. Learn the combat/maps/objectives first. After a few time you can try level 3 difficulty, but if you can't complete it, just don't be ashamed to go back to difficulty 2. Same with difficulty 4 and 5. -Try different weapons while leveling up and stick with the one you enjoy the most, don't chase for meta weapons cause a lot of stuff will probably change in the near future
The tip about difficulty is a big one. The jump in difficulty from 2 to 3 is much larger than most players realize (and likewise to 4 and 5). Most players just aren't ready for it, and get punished HARD for the bad habits they've developed in the first two difficulties, like trying to run ahead and solo hordes, skipping health stations when injured, wasting ammo on scrub enemies and not having enough to deal with real threats, and biggest of all, NOT CLEARING THREATS BEFORE MOVING ON, then wondering why they got shanked in the back. You can get away with it on the lower difficulties, since you have a bunch of wounds and enemies do a lot less damage, but you will die and die frustrated if you don't unlearn these bad habits and stick with your team on the higher difficulties.
I disagree with the ammo box usage. it's actually better to get everyone up to full ammo before entering the final arena. Health packs though, if you only have one down left and have a grim, yeah, use it. you wouldn't believe how many runs fail because people are to frugal in using them. this is coming from 100 hours gang XD
regarding gear: save your gear to extract (when they add the function at the shrine of omnimessiah) blessings, the lines on the diamond shape indicates tier of skill/blessing on the weapons (max is 4 lines aka Tier 4 .. for now, so save tier 3+)
6:09 - you forgot about the most important sound cue- the flank/back attack. Every time an enemy that's not within your line of sight targets you for an attack, you hear a very distinct, short "swoosh" sound. Extremely helpful for not getting hit by trash mobs. When you hear it- dodge.
@@davidanjou9007 Yeah, for sure, when you're in a swarm for example and there's nowhere to dodge - but blocking from the flanks/back is a lot less effective.
There's also a slightly different audio cue for ranged attacks that are coming from outside your field of view. Dodging when you hear it will save your health.
I’m so happy seeing people get into fatshark games. Vermintide 1 and 2 are gems of near infinite replay value and now with a game this popular I can only imagine all the new things they will add. If they add something like chaos wastes I’ll be eternally happy and I will play this game for the next 5 years non stop.
The music can be used as an audio cue as well. It changes when a boss approaches, when you get a swarm of Poxwalkers, and when you cross into new areas with new objectives. The music is also absolutely fantastic! There's nothing wrong with turning it down if you find it distracting, of course, but I think that most people won't have difficult picking up on the audio cues.
There's Al's the fact that the music is especially useful when dealing with hordes when playing with randoms or without voice. Mostly as a way to know that the horde isn't quite finished/dealt with. Such ae when a horde comes, people kill what's in front of them, think that's it and move on. Meanwhile the person in the back is getting swarmed, horde music is still going and if that person survives, the rest of the team gets impatient with the :slow" one XD. It's fine to play with the music off, just...pay more attention if you do.
When the daemonhost was introduced the other day I was in a team of randos on and the 'light's out' modifier was on. We were having a great run and everyone was pulling weight. We ended up finding and killing 5 or 6 of them on that single run. We were doing so well that we just kept taking them on. We thought there might be some reward for taking them out... there's not, but it was fun anyway!
Tip about the plague ogryn: You can use dodge to lock him in place fairly reliably. (Vermintide 2 vets will know of a similar trick that can be done to rat ogres). When the plague ogryn has aggro'd on to you, stand close to him, he will either do an overhand swing with one arm, or his AoE stomp. (if he does neither of these block, he will do his 3 swing lunging attack) For the overhand dodge backward as soon as he starts the animation, once he misses get into melee range of him again and repeat. For the stomp do the same thing but take an extra step or two backward (you'll get a feeling for the range of the AoE after you fight a few ogryns) and wait for his foot to hit the ground before going back into melee. (the stomp is slower so if you're not careful you can run back into melee before the attack has gone off and be hit by it. By doing this "dodge dancing" you can keep a plague ogryn stationary and animation locked for an indefinite amount of time by yourself. This allows your team to DPS the boss, deal with a horde that just spawned, or deal with any specials that could be a threat safely.
@@DanPyjamas It used to be like that in WV2, but after a point they made it that you automatically enter block state once you try to revive someone. Also block cost reduction (necklace), helps a lot to complete the rez, before your stamina gets depleted. It's even better than the "+2 stanima".
@@Acaios1 Here's another good tip. The direction your camera, and not your character, is pointed is your effective block angle, so you can block for longer while reviving by aiming your camera at incoming attacks. Also, for anyone unaware, you can ult while you are reviving without interrupting the progress bar as long as your character has a shout or dash style move (i.e. not attacking ults)
About selling your gear, I think its better to wait till full release. Good chance you can dismantle it to craft items later, AND you also can get weapon perks stored.
@@lupvirga What a stupid definition. Let's go one step further - unlocks are unlocks, levels are levels, penance unlocks are penance unlocks. I guess there is no such thing as progression! Genius. The devs have already said there will be no wipe.
about tip#1: when you have the scanner, you are able to push enemies. changing to your weapon with an enemy in front of you while you have the scanner equipped will mean you take dmg :) push, then change to your weapon about demonhost: after it kills 2 players, it will go away
Fun tip for pinging. Bind it to your mouse scroll wheel and just roll it when facing hordes. Makes it easier to ping and point out threats in the hordes. Constantly pinging everything is absolutely necessary on harder difficulties.
just a side note about extraction. Only one guy needs to survive for the full team to get a win and full rewards. So if someone is downed or in need of rescue as crappy as it sounds just leave them behind. Get to the exit once they are fully dead or in waiting for rescue they no longer count for team members needed to exit
I am so surprised that people miss the prompt to press 4 for auspex at the bottom of the screen. You're absolutely right that some people think those events finish magically haha.
This is the best hack and slash-shooter game I have ever played. I will enthusiastically buy every DLC and support every damn release they make to help this game thrive.
I hate to agree but yet I do, they just need more content lol. When full release is out I am hoping for much more because cycling a few missions can get boring, the bugs, servers, and optimization were horrible for a while but I am proud to say they fixed something because it finally runs great on my PC (It ran well at first and then for a week or two I couldn't run it beyond single digit frames due to some major optimization errors, no I can run with my graphics on high at a comfortable FPS) The bad things aside though, this game is just absolutely a gem. The graphics are INCREDIBLE, like for a multiplayer game its so stunning sometimes to just look at the world around you, the care given to the 40k universe really shows. The gameplay is consistently very fun and even though the missions and content are limited its easy to get sucked in and forget that you are cycling the same few maps because of how dynamic the AI spawning is and how fun the gameplay is. The gunplay and melee both feel incredibly smooth and fleshed out. Fat Shark really knows how to make you feel powerful, and it knows how to make you feel helpless at the same time. With your team up while you are wading through hordes of enemies, slashing and watching blood and guts and limbs flying everywhere you feel like a god, but then that beast of nurgle or daemonhost pops on you and it makes the game legit terrifying. There is this amazing pacing and push and pull factor to the game that keeps you coming back, and every weapon from the massive bolter to..literally a shovel, feels so powerful and capable. The game isn't near completed yet and its had some serious rough patches, but I won't lie, if they manage to avoid screwing up massively, Dark tide is going to be a fucking staple in the gaming world.
One of the most IMPORTANT tips that no one seems to be putting out there is the importance of pushing mobs back. (Holding block and attacking) Even with an axe, and horde rushing you, you can swing twice, look diagonal left of the horde, do your push, look diagonal right attack twice, then do your push, rinse and repeat. You can stay alive indefinitely because the time it takes for you to attack twice refreshes the amount of stamina it costs to push. I see too many people just moving back, spamming melee, and eventually get getting killed or heavily damaged.
I'd add this details about secondary mission. You can see a green light around a grimoire, which makes it easier to find. And you can hear a particular sound when you're close to a scripture. Kinda sounds like a rune in dishonored.
Great guide Codiak. Here's some specific and a little more advanced Psyker tips I can give after 100+ hours: -After Malice difficulty Brain Burst becomes pretty much worthless. The only way you'll get any real use out of it is to use the 3rd Level 30 feat to increase the speed you BB and decreases the Peril. Apparently this is the only class special that doesn't scale up with difficulty. Likely an oversight and hopefully rectified soon -You really only have two good options for staves at high levels, Surge and Voidstrike... Surge perhaps being the best option for high difficulty. You will likely be underwhelmed by it's damage against hordes and you'd be right. Now try taking that Surge staff and see what it does to _Armored_ enemies. It does *fantastic* damage against big chonks and the trashcan wearing psychos. You honestly won't even miss your worthless BB on Malice+. All this said, I'll admit when you figure out the Voidstrike staff works like a _railgun_ against hordes and not a shotgun it's a lot of fun. But it doesn't even tickle the harder enemies. -As for feats, I don't know the names off the top of my head, but as far as I'm concerned the only meta imho is to go with the feat that gives you toughness for every 10% of Peril quelled, and for level 30 the only one that makes sense is the one that gives your BB a little boost in utility. The other two just shed your Warp Charges for very little utility. Anyways, this is all just my opinion. I'd really love to hear if I'm dead wrong on something. Always good to learn new things.
There are also subtle sounds and voice lines for the Scab Trappers too. You can hear them near spawn doors, and they along with other specialists will show up more frequently the fewer members of the squad are in cohesion with one another.
If I had to give one tip, it's to focus on your survival first and foremost. Help your allies when you can, but your most important asset is yourself. This includes bosses and monstrosities. Don't solely focus on the boss or monstrosity. Your priorities should be Specials (Trappers, Mutants, Bombers, Hounds, etc.), then Elites (Shotgunners, Gunners, Reapers), then ranged enemies (Scab lasgunners and Dreg riflemen), then the horde, and finally, the boss. If the only enemies around is the boss and a horde, have only one or two teammates focus on damaging and tanking/distracting/kiting the boss. The rest should clear the air of enemies so you can return focus to the boss as quickly as possible. You aren't doing anyone a favor by focusing so hard on the bosses that you go down from little poxwalkers munching on your rear end. Don't tunnel vision the big bads, clear the area of the other threats first. If you know how, bosses and monstrosities can be blocked, dodged, and kited around. Your first priority is survival, then killing the adds, and finally removing the boss. This is what I've learned anyway. I don't know what the methods or ideals are at max-level Damnation difficulty, but from the runs I've done this is what I've learned. When all my teammates focus on the boss and I'm the only one dealing with the hordes, I'll inevitably go down from running out of stamina or getting stunlocked by a las patrol while I'm trying to finish off a horde. Then, once I go down, the rest of the team tends to follow if they haven't managed to take down the boss. Also; Don't forget your grenades. If you're about to pick someone up after they've been downed, if you have one, toss a grenade at your feet before you start to give yourself some space. Normally I'd say clear out the enemies before considering helping someone, but sometimes you're under a lot of pressure and you need that teammate up ASAP, it can be worth the risk of the downtime in order to get a second pair of hands to help with dealing with whatever the threat is.
Im glad I'm not the only one who was reminded of helm's deep, with the burster. I liked and subscribed right after that part. Rock on dude! I literally just started two days ago now. This has cleared up a lot of the fog. Thank you.
1. There's also an audio que for ambush. It's a smaller horde that spawn much closer & from all directions. 2. Don't sell gear. It's needed for crafting. 3. There's three (four with the Daemon) monsters. The last one is a chaos spawn. 4. Don't pick up Grims. Addition to instantly receiving corruption the team also receive corruption overtime. It's not worth the tiny reward. If you have a weekly to get Grims I recommend that you re-roll it.
Occasionally spam the mark enemies button when you sweep an area with your crosshair you can highlight any dangerous elites and specials from very far away . Don’t drop down into area without taking out the dangers first. Hold block when reviving teammates to help get people up without being interrupted. Stay together and don’t be a kerrilian Rambo , this game is harder than vermintide. Don’t rush but don’t dawdle. Keep a comfortable pace , the enemy AI spawner will send harder enemies at you in nasty combinations if you’re flying through the level and if you go to slow you’ll get chipped down eventually. Have fun and don’t be mad if you fail you win some and lose some.
One tip I took up which works fairly well is to keep your world mark on alt, but bind your contextual mark onto your LMB. When I am attacking and shooting into hordes I am automatically marking any specials or elites that I am attacking, the only downside is that marking ammo and grenades and stuff requires you to switch to your melee weapon and take a random swing if you dont want to waste a shot, but to be perfectly honest so far when i try to mark drops for veterans on my team and stuff they ignore it. I give ammo priority in the order of Veteran, Zealot/Ogryn (usually Ogryn unless the Zealot has Flamer), and Psyker (since they will usually not be using standard guns and if they are, they should still be primarily slashing down hordes and brainbursting elites.) I prioritize grenades Veteran, Zealot, and Ogryn. The Ogryn really doesnt need the grenade, he can go by perfectly fine without throwing his box at hordes, however it is semi useful for one shot conking tf out of elites. Generally if my team is just walking by nades and ammo I will pick it up no matter my class, but I do try my hardest to get it to the ones who are most useful with it, because my staff psyker built cant use it at all and my melee zealot only shoots on occasion.
Its a nice tip to turn down music in order to better hear special enemies callout sounds, however to this point I used to identify coming up boss fights by the change in music
Great vid! I can't personally imagine removing the music, it's just so good!! But I also don't have issue with sound cues using standard audio settings.
Try these on for size: 1) grenades have a hit box. Donking a zombie with one can cause the horde to pile up on the zombie that got hit with the grenade before it explodes. This also gives a hit marker so you don’t have to sit there and wait for the effect. You know your grenade had a good arc and you know it should be effective. 2) veterans are the key to grenade play. They have 2 talents which essentially refund 2 grenades for the team over the course of about 40 seconds on average at level 4 and 5 (it’s special dependent). This increases in favor of the player with hi-intensity. Preachers need the grenade salvos more than anyone else (they go down like a sack of taters without a grenade on hand at higher levels) 3) build your character to be able to deal with both armored enemies in small numbers as well as soft targets in large numbers. TLDR crits won’t be enough so you may need to consider a blunt weapon with decent power swing cleave for soft targets. Blunt weapons can hit armored headshots for full damage if they are power swings. Blades hit for full damage using any attack (not just power swings) on exposed flesh. Some mauler and crusher variants have no exposed skin whatsoever so if you don’t like your blunt choices of melee weapons for your class then you will need to use ranged for these armored targets. All variants of ranged damage do quite well on armored targets except psyker electricity. It’s better to just pop their brains anyway though. Cleave on any weapon is decent for dealing with soft target hordes HOWEVER That’s DPS down the drain once you have access to tier 4 blessings. It’s better to learn to deal with soft target hordes with any weapon which doesn’t need to be buffed with cleave. Some have innate cleave and that’s also fine. Without cleave, your power swing stops after contact with the 3rd target in an arc and then hits that target for less damage. More cleave means more targets and less damage fall off. Crits with any 2h weapon have max cleave but that’s very hard to sustain without very good gear. 4) 2 psykers seems to be meta for boss dps during hordes. This is due to coherency stacking and stagger from a grenade before the brain pop. Bosses can be staggered via veteran frags and plague ogryns can be stunned by ogryn charges (there may be more ways I can’t remember). This still applies to demonhosts even when you don’t get a stagger animation (don’t know about charging though) 5) bleed and burning stacks seem to ramp up to 5 stacks. Learn how long it takes each enemy to get their 5 stacks using the training zone. This is very weapon dependent meaning some blessings for bleed are overkill and the target dies before getting to max stacks anyway so it’s a waste for that weapon. The rule of thumb for bleed is that 1h weapons typically need to apply bleeds asap to justify their use (and in which case, the dagger for preacher is surprisingly meta) so bleed blessings are great. 2h weapon bleed blessings are only useful on bosses and maybe maulers.
Heres a tip for the Demonhost. Its uper easy to kill. I always engage it with my Ogryn and hunker down in a corner with the shields special while my random teammates lowly chip its health away.
10:35 I would like to add that, despite their size, monstrosities can easily be blocked, parried (perfect timed block), and dodged without ever taking damage until you make a mistake. Even the Daemonhost can't touch you if you keep your cool. Their attack pattern is actually pretty easy to understand once you calmly face them. Just remember the first rule of combat, DON'T GET HIT!"
Should probably point out that most people power level through rank 1 assassination missions with any sort of bonuses (excluding the collection types because they slow things down). Malice (rank 3) isn't worth it for the exp as most runs will wipe due to any level player can join (bad design choice here) meaning you will get nothing for your time really. They have adjusted rewards since this video but generally once anyone is comfortable with their class, just slam as many bonus-laden rank 2 missions as possible for double the money rewards. I find they can be cleared nearly as fast as rank 1 for more in the bank. It's pretty rare I can't carry a team alone in there so I'm not sure I've ever seen a run fail, and should be the case for any team with at least one good player.
Tip #17 : Ignore what the tutorial is telling you... Toughness doesn't protect against melee damage, and you can still get shot when sprinting to cover. Also just an advice, I highly, HIGHLY recommend to NOT sell your gear. You get enough money from missions and if Vermintide and the crafting menu already in the game is any indicator you most likely will have the option to salvage your stuff, which are much, much more important then dockets.
I mean, if you're a Vermintide player you should know exactly how Grimores and Scriptures work. They are exact analogs for Grimores and Tomes in Vermintide (Minus the fact you can't directly destroy a Grimore in Vermintide). Also, these were all great points and I think can really help new players to the tide series but can you PLEASE let people know the game isn't a race,, running through a mission as fast as possible isn't ideal. I've been in groups...most groups...where people run through, hit an enemy once, I presume thinking they kill it, and keep running only to leave me and possible more behind them fighting off the now left enemies between us and them. Generally this gets all of us into a hairy situation, the person/people that run forward and leave us all behind tend to get jumped by SOMETHING...pox hound, flamer, sniper...take your pick. It also leave those of us behind who are trying to take out a horde or some other nasty to suddenly get ganked in the back by the enemies you just ran through and hit once and kept going and or leaving us in trying to save you because you can't handle what's ahead. It's so absolutely frustrating playing with the people who think it's some kind of race to the end. Trying to race to the end seldom works and they NEVER seem to learn their lesson. You pick them up after they go down or they die outright...and they're right back to dashing ahead of the entire team like they're the emperor themselves!
Absolutely, the rush people are in...many people don't realize this game is more difficult than many others of the same style, and you can't just bumrush through it other than perhaps on the first difficulty, maybe the second with NO modifiers. The number of pubs I see on Malice with endless hordes who just charge through everything, ignoring healing stations/ammo when they're near death and running on empty, waltzing by hordes of enemies then wondering why they are down and their teammates are far from them and can't get to them to rez through the pile of bodies between them...makes you wish Rannick just jettisoned some of these rejects out the airlock already.
Vermintide 1 and 2 you certainly *do* need to stick together, I would say as much as Darktide. More enemies pin you in the Vermintide, but there are less ranged attacks.
Note on the Daemonhost: Ogryn Special Shield Floor Slam lets you tank that thing pretty much forever! (At least on lower difficultys.) Best for them to wake it up if you have too! Also, the Daemonhost will kill 2 players and then tends to disappear. This is on lower levels anyways ^.^
It’s worth mentioning the grimoires also continue to tick corruption up after you’ve taken the initial loss. About 1 hp every 10 seconds or so. Worth thinking about before going for them. This extra loss can be healed by a medical station but only up to the initial loss taken. So you need to move quickly if you have any in your possession
If this is somwhat like vermintide then there are a few bonuses coming from grimoirs. Yes grimoirs reduce your max hp by bout 33% for each grimoir you pick up, but you get more xp and a better loot bonus on mission completion meaning your mission rewards are better, also in vermintide the grimoirs gave unique bonuses to your team for that mission, using the first grim gives a power buff to your team if you use it, using the second grim gave a defence buff to your team reducing damage taken, doing this would empower your team for said mission but you lose the extra loot bonus for completing the mission. Whether this is the same in darktide i dont know cos im still waiting to play, but in vermintide there was a trinket/charm perk that reduces curse by up to half, if you pick up 1 grim you lose 33% health, a second grim will up this to 66% max health loss but with curse reduction you can pick up 2 grimoirs and you will only lose 33% health instead of 66%, but like i said i havnt played yet so someone would have to check this out
If you're a lvl 7, please stay out of lvl 3 and 4 difficulty, just practice, get better gear, get your traits, get your curios etc. Otherwise you're asking someone to carry you because you will probably be dying more often, be very unhelpful in clearing hordes or DPSing bosses and it's generally unfair to other players. For leveling, just take the time to learn how your hero/character works so that by the time you're actually ready for the difficulty of say lvl 4 Heresy, then you'll be ready to carry your own weight and help the team.
7:26 another tip about sound, turn down Dialogue trim volume. It's only 5 dB but it makes all the in game Dialogue not so loud and distracting, while call outs are still easily audible.
Missed a sound que: the daemonhost does alot of the psyker lines like the buzz buzz buzz but in a voice none of the pcs have and louder, if you hear that, start looking for the daemonhost and ping, everyone needs to know where it is whether you're killing it or avoiding it
I have been hearing that "stove top start" clicking since the first beta and had no idea what that was for xDDD Now I finally do, thank you for this clarification. Dat Flamer is around.
These are all good tips, but my biggest tip is to learn how to dodge. The Daemonhost miniboss is easy if the person who she is targetting knows how to dodge - I had one target me the other day and she hit me maybe once or twice. Also, you can push (blocking and attacking) the poxbursters as they leap at you which interrupts their explosion, pushes them to the floor a good distance away from you and they detonate on their own.
One thing that I learned pretty quick it that enemies come out of spawn door swinging including poxbursters (They also don't tick as loud or as often when traversing between layers)
There are few games where I can run the exact same content for 50+ hours. This is one of those games and I'm still having fun and looking forward to crafting and more classes
9:53 This part right here Infuriates me to no end about most of the community when playing with randoms, 99% of all my games there's always idiots standing outside the ship for a solid min or 2 just shooting enemies Instead of ending the mission. This gets even worse when there's a small chance of crashing at any min, I've seen a few times people standing In the ship then having some rambo stay outside wasting our time and then the other dude had an unlocky crash and lost the mission rewards. This idiocracy doesn't end there though, 90% of the time In missions that has objectives people ALWAYS seem to prefer to stay and kill an Infinite spawning horde rather than just finish the damn objective to stop It. Lost count of how many games I've had to solo carry objectives because the 3 other nut jobs decides to hug a corner and spam left mouse with their melee attacks, then when I finish the objective for them they come out of the corner like they just did the mission a service. I didn't used to get annoyed by this In the start because I had the mindset that maybe people are just learning the game still, but when I see level 20+ even 30s do this I just lose all motivation to continue.
Excellent video! Still watching, but I thought it was hilarious that I had a scan mission come up as it was talked about AND THEN a Daemonhost popped up while that was being talked about... typing this out while I wait to be rescued because it took me out lol
yeah they really made grimoires more trouble than they were worth so far in their previous games they gave you better chances to get better loot at the end of each mission
Two tips I want to share is - *While holding a decent mobility MELEE weapon, you move faster than sprinting by side dodging. Side dodge spamming is the fastest movement in the game.* - *Whenever you are carrying a cannister, you can slide spam and move at normal speed without being slowed down by the weight of the cannister.*
FYI if pox bursters get to close you can block/push and dodge back, if you do it quick enough you take no damage, I also rebound ping key to my primary attack key so I auto ping enemies in groups even if I can't see them. I just swap to melee to ping items.
TELL. EVERYONE. ABOUT. WHITE. WEAPONS. Seriously, when you hit level 30, Rejects, you need to FIND AND BUY WHITE WEAPONS, and then build them up to Legendary weapons at the weapons workbench that you get access to at level 4. UNTIL THAT POINT IN TIME, THERE IS NO POINT IN UPGRADING YOUR WEAPONS (unless you find one that you really, really enjoy using and to continue your leveling trip with it). Once you hit the level cap, look for White Weapons with a Gear Score of 330+. These are the weapons that will carry you through Heresy and Damnation. The reason why is complex, there's a youtube video that you can look up about it, but the short version is that the Gear Score in Darktide takes every stat that's applied to the weapon into consideration, so to get maximum results, a High Gear Score white weapon will always end up being a far superior weapon at the end of the road. A white gun with 330 will always have better base stats than a purple gun with 330. And the white gun will get exponentially better from there. So spread the word Rejects! Tell your Strike Team and make sure all loyal servants of the Emperor understand how to properly utilize the Omnissiah's blessings in the field of battle.
If you're under say about level 15, don't do difficulty 3 missions. you're just dragging your team down. Exception perhaps for players being carried by players that can generally clear difficulty 4+
A great tip for the pox bursters is that you can just push them when they get close to you, and dodge backwards to completely avoid their attack. I think people normally instinctively run when a burster is close, but this works like gangbusters.
this works sometimes, depends on the dodge distance for your weapon, but at the very least it stops the poxburster from blasting the entire team, i typically rush towards the poxburster to attempt shoving it if i dont think i can shoot it down fast enough unless we have a psyker with lightning
@@Umimugo @Umimugo It doesn't depend on it tooooo much, or at least it can be done regularly with a big ol' eviscerator, which doesn't have a particularly impressive dodge range. I think the harder part is getting in the habit instead of just trying to dodge backwards for me, haha.
Theres nothing better than a team that runs well and ive had one instance where four people who didn't know one another played four games on the trot beautifully (merged as a team after the first game). Equally ive had many games where people dont have a clue.
There's one audio cue missing, and that's a very metallic *PING* sound (like a grenade pin drop or even an M1 Garand [I know, I know] ejecting its mag) That's the cue for a Bomber to show up. Given how accurate they are with those awful AoE burn patches, it's one that's good to keep an ear out for :D
audio cues are a great mechanic, but by no means is it unique. Using audio cues to relay information to the players is one of the cornerstones of game design lol.
I wish I tested wound sooner on relics. I thought health increased the amount if blocks you have but its "wound". Mix that with Grimoire resistance both book and regular. Easy game
*Praises Fatshark for using audio ques to clue you into combat situations and enemies as a unique and smart idea that Fatshark uses in their games* LEFT FOR DEAD AND EVERY VALVE TITLE EVER: Uhm.... ok bro.
Another hint is that you are rewarded for failure. Don't rage quit the team if it's falling apart, let it go and get at least some rewards for what you did.
If you're good aliens ft player, you'll do well in this game, but lack of melee combat from aliens experience might hamper you. At least you'll know how to deal with the hordes. The biggest problem in the shooting is the god awful sights. So to learn melee, go for the ogryn first. If you go for the preacher, the flamethrower is your best weapon on dealing with the horde. Unlike in the aliens, it doesn't deal dmg to your people, as long as they have toughness. For the ogre that is the shield and in the distance, dakka.
Another tip i really want everyone to know is: some medical station not always have full charge. So pay attention if your teammate more need it. Except for last station before final event and station that you need to find battery urself are always fully charged.
My issue with the Pox Burster sound is that it sounds like it's ahead of you, then they just show up out of nowhere behind you, even if you were to put yourself against a wall. It's ridiculous!
Going from lvl 2 to lvl 3 missions is a pretty impressive step change in difficulty. That's when bum rushing everything becomes a really really bad idea.
About the exp grind I find it's faster to skim trough 1.9k xp / 15min lv1 missions vs 3.1k xp / 30min lv3s, with the perk of being close to not possible to fail them. Less cash in exchange for quicker safe exp

The emperors most prized weapons of war. You mean the adeptus custodes?
"Some of you just run around like idiots killing random things during the auspex portion of the mission, and never pull out a scanner, or protect the guys scanning, which is why we are including it in this list and also why fatshark didn't put green circle scoreboards for kills" - me
It's being added. They already announced that. Hopefully objective scores are also on that end screen.
Just split up into two sub-teams, two people scan and each protected by someone.
@@benrose2845 ffs I can already smell the vermontide sweats
Took three missions to realize why those were talking so long... Would have been a nice addition to the advanced tutorial
That's the reason i don't do MP, to many man child gamers
One VITAL tip for dealing with the 'Lights Out' missions where you get the Daemonhost enemies: Bring an Ogryn with a shield. The Daemonhost tunnel visions on whoever first aggroed it. If it's the ogryn, they can use the defensive stance (not block) of the shield to block ALL damage that the daemon would be doing to them. This does NOT prevent the passive corruption that it deals to your party while active, but it's a game changer (I think the corruption gain caps at 1 wound worth). Park yourself in a corner, as it will push you back with each hit.
@Muffinconsumer4 That also work, best not waste health and ammunition on a boss that can be avoid most the time.
Good idea. Btw Do you get xp or anything from killing a deamon host?
@@SamuelSculpture no
Oh I see another Ogryn enjoyer joined the chat.
Def do this for any Ogryn players- u get an achievement if u block 900 damage in 10 seconds which i did this on the daemonhost
A few other tips to expand upon what you've said:
Here's a VERY simplified breakdown:
-The overall power level is NOT the weapon's damage.
Good to know, thx
@Very Jerry Begone! Back to the warp with you!
Seriously, why are you even here if you feel that way? Just salty and trying to ruin other's fun? Get out.
@Very Jerry ok calm down Jerry. You're overreacting...
Very helpful thanks!
I have some advices for new players (coming from a vermintide veteran and after 70 hours of darktide):
-The maps have breakpoints where you can not return, don't go there without your teammates or without clearing the area using range weapons first, this is one of the most common wipe mistakes.
-Don't go alone, this game is build more around teamwork than vermintide because of the coherency mechanic
-Don't waste healings/ammo boxes, I've seen many people dropping them when there is no real danger and failing at the end because they didn't have heals/ammo.
Thanks for sharing some tips! Appreciate you helping out others in the community.
To sum up these tips. Don't be an idiot, but have fun!
I agree except too say don't be too frugal with those supply crates. I've seen this work both ways.
regarding gear: save your gear to extract (when they add the function at the shrine of omnimessiah) blessings, the lines on the diamond shape indicates tier of skill/blessing on the weapons (max is 4 lines aka Tier 4 .. for now, so save tier 3+)
lol, "omnimessiah" xD
Yeah yeah omnissiah :P
6:09 - you forgot about the most important sound cue- the flank/back attack. Every time an enemy that's not within your line of sight targets you for an attack, you hear a very distinct, short "swoosh" sound. Extremely helpful for not getting hit by trash mobs. When you hear it- dodge.
Or block, pretty sure your block is 360 degrees as in vermintide
@@davidanjou9007 Yeah, for sure, when you're in a swarm for example and there's nowhere to dodge - but blocking from the flanks/back is a lot less effective.
There's also a slightly different audio cue for ranged attacks that are coming from outside your field of view. Dodging when you hear it will save your health.
dodge AND block, only time that you do not block when dodging is if you are swinging a weapon, shooting or reloading, or using a device/grenade.
I’m so happy seeing people get into fatshark games.
Vermintide 1 and 2 are gems of near infinite replay value and now with a game this popular I can only imagine all the new things they will add.
If they add something like chaos wastes I’ll be eternally happy and I will play this game for the next 5 years non stop.
yeah a rogue-like would be pretty legit. I'm wonder if they'll add a new enemy type at some point ala Beastmen. Tyranids perhaps?
chaos wastes would be godlike
@@AbominationalFailure They will add new features classed, modes and missions. This has been confirmed.
@@shirayuri4345 yeah I knew those were being added, I'm wondering if they'll add a new enemy type eventually.
If only their games were more stable. V2 crashed nonstop for me for 5 years, and I’m sad Darktide has this problem too.
It's fine to play with the music off, just...pay more attention if you do.
when the music starts to pump, that's when the game gets really really fun and immersive.
But…but…the soundtrack is awesome.
LOUDER! LOUDER!
(if he does neither of these block, he will do his 3 swing lunging attack)
For the overhand dodge backward as soon as he starts the animation, once he misses get into melee range of him again and repeat.
Just like Vermintide, if you hold block before rezzing you can revive your teammate from downed without getting interrupted by melee attacks.
Oooh nice. Didn't notice that in Vermintide either 🤣
or jut be an ogryn.
Good chance you can dismantle it to craft items later, AND you also can get weapon perks stored.
there is a refine option at the shrine of omnissiah that says “coming soon” so i’m saving all my stuff
Won't them wipe your inventory?
They said they would save progress but nothing said about saving the inventory..
@@TheSound0fLegends inventory is progress
@@Palpatine-zu4zt Inventory isn't progress, Inventory is inventory. Progress is unlocks, levels, and Penance completions
@@lupvirga What a stupid definition. Let's go one step further - unlocks are unlocks, levels are levels, penance unlocks are penance unlocks. I guess there is no such thing as progression! Genius.
The devs have already said there will be no wipe.
about tip#1: when you have the scanner, you are able to push enemies. changing to your weapon with an enemy in front of you while you have the scanner equipped will mean you take dmg :) push, then change to your weapon
about demonhost: after it kills 2 players, it will go away
Fun tip for pinging. Bind it to your mouse scroll wheel and just roll it when facing hordes. Makes it easier to ping and point out threats in the hordes. Constantly pinging everything is absolutely necessary on harder difficulties.
just a side note about extraction. Only one guy needs to survive for the full team to get a win and full rewards. So if someone is downed or in need of rescue as crappy as it sounds just leave them behind. Get to the exit once they are fully dead or in waiting for rescue they no longer count for team members needed to exit
Heresy!
Leave no lil' uns behin!
Heresy!!!
(Holding block and attacking)
Even with an axe, and horde rushing you, you can swing twice, look diagonal left of the horde, do your push, look diagonal right attack twice, then do your push, rinse and repeat.
Here's some specific and a little more advanced Psyker tips I can give after 100+ hours:
-After Malice difficulty Brain Burst becomes pretty much worthless. The only way you'll get any real use out of it is to use the 3rd Level 30 feat to increase the speed you BB and decreases the Peril. Apparently this is the only class special that doesn't scale up with difficulty. Likely an oversight and hopefully rectified soon
-You really only have two good options for staves at high levels, Surge and Voidstrike...
No music?
Impossible! This soundtrack is so good :D
Its not even hard to hear them dude
Great vid!
I can't personally imagine removing the music, it's just so good!! But I also don't have issue with sound cues using standard audio settings.
Just started to play the game a week ago and I’m obsessed with it. This video has been really helpful thanks a lot 👍🏻
“Using audio to inform of incoming threats feels uniquely specific to their game”
I think Left 4 Dead would like to have a word.
Try these on for size:
1) grenades have a hit box.
Preachers need the grenade salvos more than anyone else (they go down like a sack of taters without a grenade on hand at higher levels)
3) build your character to be able to deal with both armored enemies in small numbers as well as soft targets in large numbers.
This still applies to demonhosts even when you don’t get a stagger animation (don’t know about charging though)
5) bleed and burning stacks seem to ramp up to 5 stacks.
Good tip!
Turn down the music in game? Heresy!!!
This needs way more likes
Toughness DOES protect from melee damage....
@@spamhere1123 Absolutely well said!
I wish I knew about this game sooner :( just seen it on the gamepass and figured I’d give it a shot. Played for about 2 hours and I’m already addicted
Vermintide 1 and 2 you certainly *do* need to stick together, I would say as much as Darktide. More enemies pin you in the Vermintide, but there are less ranged attacks.
An important sound cue to note is the laugh and mumbling of the net guy. He can quickly end a run if not dealt with asap.
Whether this is the same in darktide i dont know cos im still waiting to play, but in vermintide there was a trinket/charm perk that reduces curse by up to half, if you pick up 1 grim you lose 33% health, a second grim will up this to 66% max health loss but with curse reduction you can pick up 2 grimoirs and you will only lose 33% health instead of 66%, but like i said i havnt played yet so someone would have to check this out
Poxburster: If you can’t shoot one before he reaches you, push him and dodge backwards. That way you csn avoid a lot or all damage.
I came here for what turned out to be the grimoire corruption. I thought I wasn't noticing a mission variable that corrupted medicaid stations.
When playing a fatshark game always remember:
Apes together strong.
Ordo dockets will be replaced with crafting materials based on how good the dismantled gear is, save your good stuff til launch people!
Excellent video! Still watching, but I thought it was hilarious that I had a scan mission come up as it was talked about AND THEN a Daemonhost popped up while that was being talked about... typing this out while I wait to be rescued because it took me out lol
Sounds wise you can also hear distinctive chatter from scab bombers and trappers which are pretty key.
yeah they really made grimoires more trouble than they were worth so far in their previous games they gave you better chances to get better loot at the end of each mission
Two tips I want to share is
- *While holding a decent mobility MELEE weapon, you move faster than sprinting by side dodging. Side dodge spamming is the fastest movement in the game.*
- *Whenever you are carrying a cannister, you can slide spam and move at normal speed without being slowed down by the weight of the cannister.*
Nice video. Now to try and put some of those tips to use.
FYI if pox bursters get to close you can block/push and dodge back, if you do it quick enough you take no damage, I also rebound ping key to my primary attack key so I auto ping enemies in groups even if I can't see them. I just swap to melee to ping items.
Yeah that scanny tool needs to be added to the tutorial, went through 2-3 scanner missions before I realized what needed to be done.
Yep! That's exactly why I included it in the vid. If you miss the tiny tooltip you're SOL
TELL.
EVERYONE.
ABOUT.
WHITE.
All super helpful stuff, thanks very much!
There's one audio cue missing, and that's a very metallic *PING* sound (like a grenade pin drop or even an M1 Garand [I know, I know] ejecting its mag)
That's the cue for a Bomber to show up. Given how accurate they are with those awful AoE burn patches, it's one that's good to keep an ear out for :D
audio cues are a great mechanic, but by no means is it unique. Using audio cues to relay information to the players is one of the cornerstones of game design lol.
You can dodge while ads most people don’t know that and it’s weird
I know I didn't, till now of course. >_
Be nice if, you know, the game mentioned it perhaps..
Found this out naturally about 0.1 seconds into my very first round.
Small but usefull thing: don't shoot The pox burster to your face, push it and it gets knocked so far that u won't get any dmg
Number 1 tip: turn the music to 100%. The soundtrack is a certified club banger
I wish I tested wound sooner on relics. I thought health increased the amount if blocks you have but its "wound". Mix that with Grimoire resistance both book and regular. Easy game
There's also an audio cue when an enemy is about to hit you in the back. It's a subtle woosh sound, but you'll hear it if you're attentive
Great tips...been playing for 3 days staight and this vid taught me a bunch of useful game stuff that i did not know!
Glad you enjoyed!
Just got this off game pass and I can’t stop playing 💯
*Praises Fatshark for using audio ques to clue you into combat situations and enemies as a unique and smart idea that Fatshark uses in their games*
LEFT FOR DEAD AND EVERY VALVE TITLE EVER: Uhm....
You know, if I couldn't think for myself, this video might be useful
U can g near hem and press Lt then press A t back
5:49
For me I use the magic class when he come I use my skill I go t him and press RB
the music getting more dramatic when big enemies nd hordes approach is just awesome. i wouldnt turn it off :)
Tipp for high efficiency and healthy fingers on left hand. "Run" keybinding on mouse wheel click.
Another tip i really want everyone to know is: some medical station not always have full charge. So pay attention if your teammate more need it. Except for last station before final event and station that you need to find battery urself are always fully charged.
''hold on dont kill the sniper!''
*pulls stun grenade pin*
''ok got my shirt kill her''
It’s 40m just mark the sniper so you know if it’s far enough for the armour piece
Sound track slaps. Imma leave it at 100% 😄
you don't understand, walking backwards into the extraction while shooting is essential to the gameplay loop
turning the music down? HERESY!
DO NOT TURN DOWN THE MUSIC! ITS ONE OF THE BEST PARTS OF THE GAME. MUSIC SHOULD BE THE HIGHEST VOLUME!
Telling people to play darktide without the music is fucking blasphemy.
Feels like ive been waiting for this game forever... buzzed.
On Grimoires, there's now incentive to pick up with Melk, so expect people to pick them up.
About the exp grind I find it's faster to skim trough 1.9k xp / 15min lv1 missions vs 3.1k xp / 30min lv3s, with the perk of being close to not possible to fail them. Less cash in exchange for quicker safe exp
Very good information!
Thank you very much for the video. Didn't know about the xp hike from difficulty 2 to 3 or about the coherency.
Glad I could help!
Great video dudes! Very informative and helpful
Glad it was helpful!
I love me some tips and Gricks. Great video.
