When I was growing up, it was safe to play in your yard at 4. Now days it's not even safe for them to play in a fenced backyard without supervision. Too many evil people out there now.
@@tracynolan7135 this is very true, same for me when I was growing up, it just seemed so much safer than it is now. I used to walk a far distance to the store when I was in grade school. I’d never have let my kids or grandkids do that these days.

Mom was changing her baby’s diaper, preparing to take family somewhere after just coming home from somewhere else. It was a moment of most families , he wandered out, he was visible on camera! I don’t think she was careless, just an unfortunate moment in time.

The mother was not being responsible because the child should not have been alone on a public street where strangers could easily snatch a 4 yo in the blink of an eye. I'm not condoning what this woman did, but she did have the opportunity to snatch this child in less time than it takes to change a diaper if that was her real intent. She clearly has some mental health and possible substance abuse, but I don't believe child abduction was her plan. Was she going to abduct him by allowing him to drive the getaway bike?
Mom needs to be more careful BUT That Lady Had a Fake Badge! -PREMEDITATED. And even if it wasn’t, she cannot take matters in her own hand. She should have called CPS herself. So get off the mom.

It looks like the kid was right in front of his house and that it was his mother‘s camera that caught the incident. I do think it’s terrible that people are going right to judging the mom in this situation. She is a victim in this too.

@Juke582 The mother wasn't paying any attention to his whereabouts, and if this woman wanted to abduct a 4yo she could have very easily done just that before the mother even realized he was missing. She doesn't appear very well prepared to snatch a child since she has no getaway vehicle - unless she fully expected the child to provide his own transportation?

A badge can be bought online so can legit looking ID , so if it happens to you, call in to verify they are actually with CPS and call the cops,
Never let my daughter outside by herself, and that was in the early 80s. And the reaction of the son having to go to counseling was because of how the parents reacted. They definitely didn't handle the situation well. My opinion
If the perpetrator were more aggressive or crazy, that little kid could have been snatched up. Got to watch those kids.

If my 11yo couldn’t go 2 blocks, I’d look into moving. 4yo is young to be out alone but don’t let the media cause you to do long term psychological damage to your older children. Mom has turned an uncomfortable situation into a nightmare for her son. He should have been promptly rewarded for doing the right thing but no further discussion should have taken place. Instead she has chosen to drag him through her lapse of judgment again and again.
