    The Breda 30 is one of those guns that always leaves me asking “what were they thinking?” A skeletal design yet still chock full of moving parts?, a Twenty-round capacity that is loaded with stripper-clips? This thing would be barely acceptable in WW1 let alone in WW2. Shame that this gun is one of the reasons Italy was such a meme for WW2 History because Italy did have some great guns especially those made by Beretta.

    I personally like Forgotten Hope 2's rendition the best. They model the pivot of the magazine, the draw and stowage of that giant, silly clip, and the magazine tab on top moves when rounds are inserted. In addition, the bolt dropping home makes a really nice, metallic noise. It's very well paced for something that is in general, a cumbersome affair.

    • @sushimuncher282
      @sushimuncher282 2 года назад +3

      I concur about the tab's movement that parallels with the rounds being inserted.
      I remember seeing another vid concerning FH2's animations and people didn't like it because the animation seems too "casual" as if they're not under duress. But honestly, I love it, because if you don't take the time, you're gonna break it anyways.

    I have used the Breda M30 in Enlisted and I am pretty impressed with this Italian Star Wars machine gun. It takes 1-2 hits to eliminate an enemy and has more starting ammunition than the MG42 and MG34.

      It pretty bad tbh , the only thing that is good about it is the open sight and the controlable vertical recoil , the rest is just sad ( one of the worst dispersion on an MG , low magazines capacity , slowest ROF).Even though i have gotten 12+ kill streak with it i gotta say that gun is just painful to use , i would gladly take a BREN over it (30 round mag vs 20 round mag , one of the highest accuracy in game for mg , better ROF)

      One thing to note is that BF1942's engine required the gun to be held in the right hand. For that reason, weapons with actions on the right-hand side were mirrored, including the M1 Garand. Animations weren't all that complex at the time. That they gave the Breda M30 a reload animation at all was a show of effort, since all the bolt-action rifles reload offscreen (the character just lifts it up and you hear noises).

    What the Allied Armies thought about the Breda Mod.30
    ----------------------------------------------------------
    "Use of Captured Italian Weapons" from Tactical and Technical Trends - No. 7, Sept. 10, 1942. - US Army
    Breda Light Machine Gun. The Breda light machine gun is similar to the British Bren gun. It is mechanically superior to the Bren gun under dusty conditions. It requires only one man to service it as compared to several for the Bren gun. It has a slightly higher rate of fire than the British weapon. Its disadvantages are that it has no carrying handle, cannot be fired on fixed lines, and has no tripod mounting."
    -------------------------------------------------------------
    Contrary to popular opinion, it was definitely not a bad gun, if the US Army considered it even better in dusty conditions than the famed BREN. It had some flaws, but it was decent enough. Reload wasn't as slow as one thinks: if a soldier has 3-4 loaders near him and the gun is on his right shoulder it's actually quite decent. "Loaders" are much easier to produce and most of all... they weigh MUCH less than normal magazine and to transport a box of 300 rounds was much easier than normal mags.
    The problems were in the extraction of rounds basically, in the low-capacity mags (24-26 rounds would have been enough) and in the complicated closed-bolt system.

      Forgotten Hope 2 has been continually updated since its release and is still being worked on, with the most recent release adding the Battle of France in 1940. They've worked some real magic with the old BF2 engine, and I highly recommend checking the game out especially since it's now a free standalone.

      Yeah, it also would technically only reload 18 rounds. My guess is they didn't want to model the Breda M30's dedicated clip, so just improvised using assets made for the Carcano. It's still a better effort than the versions in BF1942 and MoHAA in my opinion. Incidentally, the game's Carcano rifle also reloaded incorrectly (the clip functions as a stripper clip instead of inserted Mannlicher-style).

      Japanese primary issued weapons were actually well-built though, it's just that their doctrine really hindering their weapon's developments and researches
      Similar cases can be said to the Italians, where they did actually made some high quality weapons like Beretta 1934 and 1938 as well as the Breda 1937 machine gun and Carcano 1938 with 7.35 Carcano. But instead of doctrines, it's their industrial capabilities that played the role
