    I'm a subscriber, but seeing the original wood covered by resin is what the show is about for many.

      Thank you for subscribing Morgan. I actually cast this before I was filming and had a channel other than a test stabilizing video. I agree, the casting is the cool part.

    I made one that looks like a twin to yours from a root ball. This piece inspired me to make one for my sister. Thanks for the inspiration Kevin .

    Can't stop watching your videos, it's mind blowing stuff! Just wish these kind of vids would show the finished product first, then how you get to this result.
    Still, well done, and thank you for sharing your art 🙏👍

      Thanks Farman! There is lots of debate amongst RUclipsrs about that. The thought is most people won’t watch how it is made if they see the end product first. With my videos you can skip to the end and see pictures then go back and watch the process. I appreciate you watching!

    I came to your channel to see if you could possibly create an urn for cremains. You answered it before I could even ask - the urn is gorgeous!

    I would put you in that category of workmanship,

    • @TheKlondikeCraftsman
      @TheKlondikeCraftsman  3 года назад

      I don’t actually, I just got 2 circles cut that matched the swing of my lathe and cut segments out of one of them to accommodate the arms.

    I am sorry for your loss, but with the urn you crafted I'm sure your uncle is more than happy to rest within. My family has asked me to craft something similar. I don't really like to turn inside vases and deep bowls especially without a curved inside scrapper or turning tool. Does the urn have to be very deep? Yours didn't look like it was hollow all the way to the height of the urn? Appreciate your help thank you.

    • @TheKlondikeCraftsman
      @TheKlondikeCraftsman  3 года назад

      Thank you! It was hollowed quite deep actually. You need one cubic inch hollowed for every pound the person weighed. I measure the volume with rice to ensure I am ok. Thanks for watching!

    Sorry for your loss. The urn is absolutely beautiful! I wanted to ask if you use stabilized burl in this. I'm going to be turning an urn for my brother and I'm trying to figure out if I should stabilize the maple burl or not.

    • @TheKlondikeCraftsman
      @TheKlondikeCraftsman  3 года назад +1

      Thanks Sean. Sorry about your brother. This was the first hybrid I had made and I did not stabilize, however it is the only piece that I haven’t stabilized. It has stayed fine but I stabilize everything I cast now.

    Very, very beautiful! I wished it was allowed to use such urns in Germany. But epoxy doesn't rot in the earth and it's not permitted to take the ashes home.
