Imagine getting kidnapped and instead of having your life threatened, your kidnappers just sing some spontaneous song. That's pretty much what had just happened here.

Had to come back to how I was first introduced to this man as a kid (my parents have a pretty darn good taste) to bid my farewell. These last few years have been pretty tough as amazing people just keep going. Robin Williams lost his fight with depression, Philip Seymour Hoffman lost to drug addiction, David Jones loses to cancer. The times are hard. Let us take comfort, however, in that just like the other greats, David Bowie lives on - in our minds and our hearts alike. The flesh is gone, but the legacy is here to stay, for as long as we keep it alive.
Rest in peace, you bloody legend. Heaven indeed finally got cool.

1.14 .... seeing the tight pants, i can imagine why some girls had a childhood crush :) Oh man, hearing the news of bowie's death. I can't say i'm a superfan, i don't even own any Bowie records. But him and his music always have been around my whole life. A lot of us grew up with it and we know many songs by heart. Hearing the news today, i immediately thought of this movie. I think i watched it at least 10 times as a teenager. Nostalgia and the fact that this is just a really really good catchy song literally just brought a tear to my eye while watching this. And i didn't even cry when Lemmy died last week! Such a sad feeling today, another musical genius taken from us and the knowledge and feeling that i'm getting older too.

This movie was a massive influence in ppl of my era getting into Bowie, had he not made this movie i may not have known him from a young age, and grown to appreciate who he really was and his music in all its glory. I was obsessed from a very young age and this will always be one of my most treasured childhood memories. I remember Mum hiring this from the local video rental shop, and me being terrified to watch it because of the pictures of the goblins on the cover lol, finally plucked up the courage and lost myself in it. David Bowie is captivating. I have easily seen this a couple of hundred times, and will probably watch it a hell of a lot in the near future in memory of the genius that IS David Bowie! Rest in peace, still just can't believe it. xox

It's cheaper that way. Still expensive, but not as expensive as making 100 custom high-quality puppets and scenes. This movie was almost 30 million dollars to create in the 80s. That would probably transition to 100-200 million today. And honestly, there was at least four scenes that used green-screen in this. Probably to cut back on the costs.
