It doesn't always have to be the most expensive guitar. Some of the most fun guitars I have are the least expensive ones. I think a decent amp makes more difference than the guitar, but I'm more of the opinion these days it's the speaker used that ultimately dictates the sound.
I’ll be honest: I bought a katana as my first guitar amp because of your review. Man it feels anazing in every way. I never felt I had to change it for any reason. JUST PLAY, PLAY AND HAVE FUN!!!!
A year ago I bought that tele because of you, and a Lead 12 not too much later. They both sound great! This from a guy that loves his tweed Fender clones and Marshall 1987. The affinity tele, for me, was to dip my toes in the single coil world, and I fucking love the Telecaster sound. I bought a more expensive tele, and both it, and my Les Paul are my go-to guitars these days (also love that Bonnamassa V). I recently pulled my old Peavey Triple XXX 40 combo out of storage. I did a tube swap on it a couple years back with some JJ's, and should have given it more time. The crunch channel on it sounds fantastic as do the other channels. They can probably be found for dirt cheap because they've been forgotten by most people, and were still made in the US. If you ever run across one, I bet you'd enjoy the crunch channel or clean channel cranked. The 'ultra' channel sounds great, though I'm not sure if it's too high gain and compressed for your tastes. Have a great week Johan!
My current cheap amps include a silver stripe Peavey Bandit dimed with T-dynamic usually at 10% and clean only trim for volume as much as 50% .Resonance on presence to taste. Paid $20. This is a thing guys. Peavey MicroBASS teal stripe cost me $20. On a stand with an 8" powered sub I happened across for $20 as well. Oddly nice combination. Energy EXLS8 off a speaker wire. Roland MicroCUBE GX battery powered modelling amp. basically free was not working.. Tip from TRS plug was broke off inside.. Removed. Running headphone out to a breakout to XLR cable to a pair of M-Audio BX5A in my bedroom.. Crate GT212. $60 with footswitch for 3 channels. I run a CS400 then 6" cable to SWITCHBLADE+ then run a cable to a group of amps as desired. Sitting in one spot switching between 2 or stacking 2. Anything you find that works is gonna be good but settling for practice amps because of price seems stupid.
I friend of mine played a silver stripe Peavey Stereo Chorus 400. When he thought he needed more oomph to compete with his bass player, he set that on top of the 450 watt, single 15" Peavey Databass. He was running a total of 700 watts, and had clean headroom for DAYS!
@@reno145 I have a 100w 8" active subwoofer with a 20w 8" amp together and it plays well with drums in a medium room. I used to run a BadDog75 15" with it. The 8 does just as well.

Sweet sweet sounds, as you said world class ones and affordable, no excuses for not playing electric guitars, for beginners and experts on small budget! Cheers!
My 2ct on cheap amps - peavey studio pro (in my case red stripe), can be had for as little as 50€, just as good as the bandit and way loud enough (and foot switchable reverb, which the bandit doesn’t have!), much more versatile than the Marshall 12 family or the reverbs - Traynor ycv Family - can be found for 200...250, that is ridiculous cheap for a 6l6 all tube amp with clean/crunch/high gain and built like a tank
One of my favourite small amp. I have the model 5005. I recorded a couple of riffs: one with this small amp, one with my '78 JMP 2204. Both amps connected to the same cab (4x12 greenback) and beyerdynamic M160. THERE'S NO DIFFERENCE! Not joking. One more thing: this little amp have enough space for a 12 inch speaker. I suggest to use a (made in uk) greenback.
Yeah it’s true. Cheap gear can sound excellent. Just checked local web offerings. 200usd would get a Valvestate 40 and a nice Squier Bullet Strat. Probably sounds totally OK
Great tones on a budget. Now, compare your Epi Special II with this set up. I gave $125 for my Epi SpecII. My Lead 12 I've had since I was a kid, so I can't comment on the price now, but it does sound as good as my Blackstar HT5. God bless and rock on bro 🎸😎👏
I noticed you use a TC studio konnekt 48. I have one aswell and like it very much since it has some great internals Fx. But i,m stuggling using it in plugin mode. Maybe you can do a video to show how you make maximum use of the 48 konnekt to get the great tone in your videos? The 48 konnekt has no good videos that are really helpfull at this point. $200 for the guitar and amp is really low balling it. My Lead 12 head and just one cab was $250, and it's not in the best condition. You might be able to get that rig (Bass 12 and Affinity Tele) in the US for about $350-$400.

When the instrument is looked at as a tool to create a song, instead of the instrument itself being the point of focus, magic can happen.

Frankly, now I'm wondering - what's the worst amp you've ever played, Johan? And could we see it on the channel?
The fuzz in a Peavey standard is as horrible as it gets. No way that fuzz can sound like a plexi!
