the reason BEcause is so dark for a summer album is in korea (and some other asian countries) they tell ghost stories in summer to cool down - hearing scary stories is supposed to make you feel chills after all!
BEcause to airplane is such a 180 and I love it so much. whistle is one of their masterpieces, that instrumental by itself is so incredible. Dami's singing tone is super pretty, especially in their ballads.

I love that they aren't afraid to switch it up! A great summer album. I agree with what you said about palette cleansers, i like that they do a special mini album between eras! Another fun staple of this era is that yoohyeon and handong looked so much alike here that even they couldnt tell themselves apart. There's a v-live where one of them says "woah i thought i was you" and a clip where they talk about how their mothers couldn't tell which one was their own child

I love that they went all in on the Summer Holiday theme in their own way. BEcause with the creepy love story, Airplane is such a happy bop and a good antidote to BEcause. And then there's Whistle which was my most listened song on Spotify the year this album came out. All Day Long is amazing light hearted City pop (co-composed co-lyrics by JiU!) and then finishing it off with the most amazing ballad that has you in tears by the end.
Thanks for the video. The intro is such a good one to set the tone for this whole album. You are going to be on a wild ride. People were really worried about this album. It being a summer album and a special album. A lot of people thought it was gonna be something light and poppy and summer-like. Of course also, Gahyeon also clowned InSomnias and told us that this was gonna be a cute concept didn't help. For me I didn't care about that as I enjoy their lighter tracks. As long as they have some of their signature rock in it, I'd be happy. "BEcause" is a kinda lighter song, but it sure has it's dark moments, especially the lyrics. I can see you getting kinda creeped out by it haha. I really enjoy the chorus in this because it has the melody to "Fur Elise" in it. Such a good sample. The MV is also inspired by the movie "Us" if you've ever watched it. "Airplane" is a love or hate it song for fans because it's so upbeat. I love it. It's poppy and catchy and totally my jam. Gahyeon on the prechorus is my favorite part of the song. She does something with her voice that just tickles my ear. The end of the chorus is also really satisfying with the slide on "gayo". I also really like how DAMI raps in this. haha. And the bridge is just so sweet. And the instrumental end is the icing on the cake. "Whistle" is probably the favorite song of the album for a lot of fans. When the album dropped. Loads of people were saying it should've been title track. I had warm feelings for the song to be honest. Though I will say JiU's part in the chorus is my favorite part of the album and probably one of my top favorites parts in their whole discography. "Alldaylong" is my favorite track off the album. And it's not just because JiU wrote and composed the song. The bass and horns in the instrumentals and melodies are so catchy and perfect for the song. It gives me a very oldies vibe. Also I love HanDong's voice on two of the choruses. And this song was inspired when Yoohyeon hugged JiU when she wasn't feeling well. It's just so sweet. "A Heart of Sunflower" is in my opinion their power ballads of power ballads. It is such a strong emotional song. And the girls sang it really well. When the whine of the guitar kicks in and continues to amp up the song, it's so satisfying to hear. And then when the girls vocally belt and sing. That makes it their power ballad for me, haha. To me, this album is definitely up there with Dystopia: TToL in terms of cohesive imagery, story telling, and how it just works as a special album. The album just takes you on a journey of love throughout the summer/day. It starts off with the intro to set the tone of the season. "BEcause" is kind of the chilly beginning and wakes you up for the morning. Then falling into an obsessive love with someone. "Airplane" is going to places/vacations with that special someone during the miday and afternoon. "Whistle" is past the honeymoon phase where you start to question the special someone and hope they will stay with you in the evening and the start of the end of the season. "Alldaylong" is where you want to stretch ever lasting moment you can with that person into the night and the end of summer. And "A Heart of Sunflower" is of course the end, late at night, or the end of the summer. It's a breakup song and the end of the summer love. But it's a tad bit bittersweet in that you want to keep the memories of day/summer with you. Well at least that's my take of this album and why I feel it is up there in terms of their story telling albums. It's also why it's proabably around my top 5 albums from DC. A huge part is the story telling, but the songs are great too. I also feel like they started to showcase the other members vocal in this album more and more. Especially DAMI and Gahyeon. This is also the album that cemented HanDong and JiU as being my favorite vocals. If you noticed they start each song one after the other, except "Alldaylong". I'm not sure if that was done on purpose by the producers, but it just works for me. Lol. I'm glad you enjoyed the album and think of it as a pallet cleanser. It's not a favorite for a lot of fans and can be underappreciated because of the concept.

All day long is a song I only recently ‘rediscovered’ and it’s shot it’s way up my all time top 10 DC songs in record time. Easily my favorite of the album ❤
Dreamcatcher's title tracks have to follow their concept. BEcause is their version of a summer love song. It's funny cause they had to keep explaining that in interviews. Their b-side sound changed around here. Much more produced and less experimental overall. The singing roles also became more defined and balanced. Handong now gets the pre-chorus. The chorus parts are up for grabs as its no longer only Siyeon and Yoohyeon exclusively on every chorus. Its a bit cynical to say, but all the members are now trusted to sing a chorus live.
BEcause, musically is their mildest title track, and also the darkest title track they ever made so far. BEcause have that light & dark element to show dual personality theme (Good & Evil), which is why this song have 2 part in chorus; cute sound & rock sound.
BEcause the creepy, obsessive love story straight into a happy summer vacation jam 😂 When I first heard it Whistle became my favorite song for about a week. It's so gooood. There are only 2 groups where I can put their whole discography on shuffle and not skip a song, Dreamcatcher and Lovebites (highly recommend to any metal fan)

This album is my first comeback with them. I discovered Dreamcatcher 2 months after OddEye, and i regret why i missed them before. I never into kpop, just know some name, like who don't know Blackpink, BTS, and else. But, i never dive into them. Kpop in general is not my cup of tea. Untill i found them. That was amazing journey. Never thought that i will stan on a kpop group this much. Deeper i dive, more love for them. Dreamcatcher is the only kpop group that i stan

BEcause- the expected sound for a title track but with the twist. It has the DC creep to it. BE is capitalized because the symbols used means Sadness in Korean and I think in Chinese too.. and the song concept, especially for the MV was inspired by Us. Top 5 title- Piri, scream, Deja Vu, boca, odd eye. BEcause, Maison and Vision sit just outside. Airplane- the popy summer bop. Whistle- my favorite b-side from this album. And it’s in my top 3 b-sides.. my top 5 b-sides. Current Top 5 b-sides: and there was no one left, whistle, poison love, break the wall, can’t get you out of my mind.. the first 3 are solid, 4 and 5 switch in and out. AllDayLong- another primary Jiu written song. It was actually inspired by Yoohyeon giving her a hug when JiU was having a bad time… I think Yoohyeon even wrote part of it too. A Heart of Sunflower- top 5 ballad.. probably top 3 actually. Siyeon had a hand in writing it. The background vocals and harmonies.. the elective guitar I believe, Jiu, Yoohyeon and Siyeon had a hand in writing all the tracks even if it was just the chorus. I believe Siyeon wrote the chorus for BEcause.
Siyeon with that low register fallowed by SuA and then Dami’ rap in Whistle gets me every time. And Jiu getting that high note right before. I don’t know if it’s on one of your lists, but Siyeon, SuA and JiU’s cover of “I love you” is amazing. And you won’t be prepared or survive that SuA solo video. Warning Rouge, Warning.

Love this album. The style may be slightly different to the rock vibe, but that is why I like it. I love rock, but variation helps too.
