      Obviously I'm a little late here- this says "2 years ago" so it could be close to 3 - but it's very good to hear you say you got through a tough time. Allow me to quote a scene from later in this movie that has *ALWAYS* been a thing I have believed and adhere to - way before this movie ever even came out- "*NEVER* OUT OF THE FIGHT!!!" ... I've been in some shit myself, I know the feeling. Like The Avett Brothers once said ... "I know it's Dark, but there's *always* The Light..." God Bless you too, brotherman.

(this is the only claim I have slight issue with because in the red wings ambush video by the taliban you can clearly hear a suppressed weapon being fired at the beginning.) Not only that; but the movie claims the leader of this group of fighters (Ahmad Shah) was a close associate of Osama Bin Laden (this is a lie), and that he had killed 20 us marines in the previous weeks (another lie).
      This entire movie is literally a lie. The only parts that are accurate are that the entire SEAL team was wiped with the exception of luttrell, who was saved by an afghan dude. Mind you Luttrell was not engaged in heavy combat like shown in the film. He literally had 11 full magazines on him (out of 11). He either didn’t fire or barely fired his weapon.
      The US military post 9/11 has a history of misrepresenting facts for propaganda purposes. Let’s not forget Pat Tillman lol. That was soviet level propaganda.

    I like how that first gunshot didn’t happen for over an hour into the film. Suspense was really built up properly before all hell broke loose. And then I like how they showed the seals kicking some ass at first. It’s a nice reminder to the viewers that these are still the most highly skilled fighters in the world. Unfortunately the enemy just kept coming and coming.

    Anyone asking why they didn't use drones, well at the time they were not used as much as today. In addition drones could definitely count the number of enemy troops. But the whole point was to identify the high target. To make sure he was there. Not how many soldiers were in the village.
    Also a drone could be spotted and the high target would flee knowing the US army was closing in on his position. The whole point to the plan was stealth. Drone technology was not what it is today and they didn't want to compromise the whole mission on a unreliable drone.
    Obviously the plan failed. The Seals made mistakes and cost them their lives. That is war. That is life.
    But hindsight is 20/20 for anyone that criticizes them. You monday morning quarterbacks.

    • @OfficialMINIm
      @OfficialMINIm 7 лет назад +2

      Jonah Hanoj perhaps the technological difference from back when this happened and now is bigger than you think. Also, if theres even a slight chance of compromising the mission they would not take the risk lightly.
      Remember these guys are specially tasked forces.
      These guys are what actions movies are based on.
      They're real killers and are trained to move silently and stay unseen.. These are the kind of guys who can actually complete covert missions.
      If it wasn't for their mistake of letting go of the locals, they could have come back alive.
      We could guess all we want but these guys are the real deal.. And clearly they didn't think it was smart to use the drones in such ways.
      Which I'm sure would mean they had their own reasons.

    • @OfficialMINIm
      @OfficialMINIm 7 лет назад +2

      firstly, they are very equally armed.. both sides are shooting intermediate rounds out of their assault rifles. what tech do you need to shoot a gun? ak74 & the m16/ar15 platform is very comparable.. it would be very hard to shoot a little drone down but it would not be impossible. you dont need tech to find people.. they were locals. they were familiar with the terrain.. which combined with their numbers gave them an upper hand. and you dont know if they were poorly trained or not. how the fuck would we know? they were Taliban.. they train and shoot to kill

    • @OfficialMINIm
      @OfficialMINIm 7 лет назад +3

      fuck youre thick headed. do you not fucking read my comments? all i said was, they would have had their own reasons to why they decided to do what they did. youre the one who fucking started yapping about drones.. i dont care how high they fly and how well they integrate with the sky. i just said, they may have been technological difference in drones from back then and now. I am no expert in this regard which is why i never bothered to argue about it. i said the talibans were locals & knew the terrain better.. and having greater numbers, gave them the upper hand which turned out to be bad news for the Ops team..
      the fuck is wrong with you? its like you want to argue about who knows drones better.. who gives a shit i dont even know about them enough to argue. youre making a fool of yourself you fucking idiot.
      and how the fuck do YOU know if they were shooting ak47s? they couldve been using AK74's for fucks sake. you do know the AK47 & the AK74 shoots different roounds right?? the AK74's round performs almost exactly the same as the M4/16's 5.56mm.. why are you assuming they were poorly armed & trained when you dont know shit?
      i feel like your knowledge comes straight from video games and movies. . you may know a thing or two about drones but like i said, i am the wrong person to argue about drones with. Please drop that shit and move the fuck on. nobody cares how high they fly yah?

      Actually they didn't use a surveillance drone because they weren't there to do surveillance! They were there to grab n bag the guy from a small village that was supposed to be docile. Their Command either had bad intelligence or made a huge mistake in judgment but they would never admit that publicly especially in a Hollywood blockbuster. It looks alot better for PR if they say they were never even supposed to make contact.

    I've said this before on this and other websites but one thing that REALLY stands out is that they not only kitted out the weapons *exactly as they were carried* by all four members of the Team - down to the fact that Axe had a Docter Optics mini-red-dot on top of the Leupold scope, and Marcus apparently 'forgot' to mount his before the mission - but the RETICLES are exactly right. The two Mark 12 SPRs have the precise Mil-Dot reticle that their respective Leupold scopes had, and the two others have the correct Trijicon ACOGs on their M4A1s, with the exactly-correct Fiber Optics-illuminated Reticles that they really had. I know that they totally screwed up some other parts of the movie, but these details are 101% Totally Legit and I appreciate it from both a Military & a War Movie-fan perspective.

I cant speak for any other branch, but just from shooting qual in the Marines, when they say "targets" and your sitting there down in the prone, your hearts beating a little fast, you switch from safe to fire and slowly put your finger on the trigger. They portrayed that scene so damn well. Like I could see myself looking through the sights and just feel that adrenaline pump through me like, this is it, I'm about to drop this guy.

    Question.... when they got rumbled by the goat herders and presented the old “we’ve got two options, kill them or let them go” dilemma .... why didn’t they just march them at gunpoint back a few miles before releasing them? That would have not only gained them ground to the extraction point, but would have bought more time. By the time the herders got back to the village and alerted the taliban, the seal team would have been long gone. Always bugged me that.

      There were never any shepherds. They were led from the very beginning of the operation and attacked at the right moment. Shepherds is a legend that killed two birds with one stone. First, they showed how humane American soldiers are, and second, they took their eyes off their mistakes in planning and conducting the operation. And in General, in this film, only one truth is that one soldier survived and that's it. And the one who ran away leaving his comrades to die while they were calling for help.Study the topic and you will understand that this is so. After I delved into the history of this operation, I became disgusted with Latrell, after he abandoned Gulab to his fate, which was hunted by the Taliban for 10 years in order to avenge him for saving Marcus. And all this after Gulab began to tell the truth, and that in the book and in the film itself there are a lot of inaccuracies and lies. Gulab said that when he found Latrell, Marcus had 11 magazines of ammunition that he took with him on the mission. And judging by the photo taken while Gulab was hiding Marcus, there's no major damage at all. Although this is not surprising and can be expected from Luttrell after he left his comrades on the battlefield. Watch the video of the battle itself and you will see that the Taliban were only 8 people with the Shah himself. Despite the fact that one of them was a cameraman and did not participate in the battle, but only shot a video. Accordingly, only 7 Taliban were fighting. Of which only one had a minor wound to the arm. This film is full of Patriotic nonsense. Although if you remove the fact that the film was shot on real events, then as an action movie is quite a normal fantastic action movie. I write with an online translator, so I apologize for spelling mistakes, and possible inaccuracies in the transmission of my thoughts, because the translator does not always convey what the person meant.

    for all dem bois wondering why the silencers are louder then what video games suggest... i read somewhere that most special forces units like using them even though they don't truly silence their gunfire strictly because it helps keep the noise down and to allow much more controlled communication; less yelling and confusion and more operating fluidly.
    smaller caliber sub-sonic rounds have the true stealth effect but only slightly

      buddyitsDerek 63 also helps in hiding your location as the gun report is harder to detect. It does affect the gun’s accuracy as it changes barrel harmonics. Which is why the first few shots (cold shots) were off target. The gun will fire on target after a few rounds.

    Wrong choice from the beginning. Should have tranquilizer the kid and old man or offed them. This is what killed them. Should not have gotten spotted in first place. Sloppy... They could have completed mission. Wrong weapons... too light. Should have moved out way earlier....
    Force Recon would have completed mission.

    Major respect to all our ground forces, honestly the combat techniques they acquire are unbelievable to those of our enemy and for them to last as long as they did against so many enemies just goes to show how fierce they are.

      It is a disappointment that they did not carry more firepower. Look at the british, they always carry a large degree of firepower. There was a 7 man team. 5 sbs troppers and 1 seal. Their mission was to protect a cia man that was going to watch a valley. They had 4 rifles with greanade launchers under them. 6 pistols. Two fn minimins (m249 saw). Grenades and claymores. Plus the cia mans rifle. Put them in this contact and i am sure that they would be able to make their escape. The seals are not made for this stuff. Did i mention that they carried a 100 pounds(45 kg) on their backs up 15,000 feet(4,5 km) mountain. It was so steep that they almost had to use their hands to climb. Btw in 12 hours.

      they were un armed farmers that were allies with the insurgency. you cant just shoot un armed people as those were the rules of engagement.

      Too all those that say it’s rules of engagement or just farmers, no war is war. There are no rules. Before you say otherwise read real history on how these so called rules and how the side obeying such faired. The only wars the United States ever won where won with every weapon used and every tactic applied. When the libs started making rules the USA lost period because the other side did not.

      doubt so as the man who saved Luttrell's life said he heard villagers talking after the events that insurgents found a fast rope, which was not pulled back into the helicopter, and then found the SEALs by following their footsteps.

    I still come back to that first decision to let them go...Was it worth it? As it cost more then was required. As the "Rescue Team" was wiped out! Over 2 people? As war is not an ethical or moral debate. You're in it too Win. Once the shooting starts. Then get back home alive preferably.
    Just my 2 cents on the subject...
