In the total context of events he is no coward. His nervous system was overloaded from seeing his team mates die, and his injuries, and to hear his dying best friend scream his name over and over was what caused him to cover his ears, as he could do nothing about it anyway. He could not have done anything about his death as by that time Murphy was already chest shot twice and taking more fire. Putting his rifle down and covering his ears is all he could do to block out the scenario. Any brain when overloaded with previous events, would do the same. You did your job, and more, operator Luttrell. Salute....
It's intense hearing a man describe himself as a coward and you can see in his eyes that he is haunted by that experience. Definitely not a coward, far from it! A true warrior. Respect from Scotland 🏴🇬🇧
Benjamin Gazdik He's suffering from post war traumatic syndrome. He's gone from blaming the commander to himself and who knows what then back to himself. His friend up there was helpless. There was no way for him to get up there and help him. Let's not forget he picked up one of his brothers and carried him. While had multiple broken bones and wounds.
Benjamin Gazdik The man who calls the shots in his platoon just took two rounds in the chest and his dead, he's begging Luttrell to save him, a fully equipped hospital couldn't save the guy. That'd be enough to make any man have a momentary nervous breakdown, especially when he's the only one left in his platoon and he's next. I hate cowards with a passion and he's not a coward.
He clearly had to go through the emotional torture. There was nothing he could do with any logic to it. Thats not cowerdise, highly trained but still human.
You guys should be thankful for men like the Navy SEALS are fighting for you. Be happy that they are protecting you and costing their lives for your freedom. How dare you judge them? I bet that at least 98.5 percent of all of you on here would not even dare to risk your lives for other people and protect them. I bet that you wouldent even go to war just to protect your family and friends. So why don't you just shut your fucking mouths and be happy that we have brave men fighting for us. Fighting for you
Your absolutely right, id sacrifice my life for any one of my Marine brothers because i know they wouldnt let my death be in vain, all these people on here judging him have no clue what its like or even means to defend one of your brothers
So you don't thank your family, wife, kids? I understand about God and I agree, You should be thankful for God, But I'm thankful for my family, and the military, Men and Women who are sacrificing their lives for us. That's something to be thankful for
I served in Ramadi, and other places in Al Anbar Iraq. Never did a tour in Afghanistan, but those who served in either of those operations put it all on the line. As a Marine Sergeant I have nothing, but the upmost respected those men like Lutrell that take it a step further into the special forces. The part that really touched me about this story was the village who saved him. And they fought for this man, putting their own lives at risk because of an ancient code, and didn't let him die. That's something I can respect
Marcus is a mans man. He wasn't a coward. He had a moment, then he picked his gun up and kept going forward. He won't see this comment, but in my humble opinion, this man and coward should never be uttered in the same sentence.

All special forces operators are tough people mentally numb to do the job at hand but you can see this navy seal is a broken man and I hope he lives a pleasant life.

Pure towing the navy narrative. Read the after action report. It’s 👁 opening. He was found with his full compliment of 11 magazines full of ammo(facts not opinions). The last one that really was disheartening was the actual size of the enemy element (7-10), movie&book had it between 300-400 which directly goes against the ISR data released regarding troop concentration & size. I just want to see or read a complete description with real facts not Hollywood facts, the best stories are true stories.
@@Make-Asylums-Great-Again To be completely fair they were outnumbered and outgunned and ultimately cornered with no where to go but down the hill. Unfortunately, Seals aren't bulletproof. However I have heard the magazine story and I've heard footage of the real firefight and someone had translated that Luttrell had ran off but I'm unsure about this.
hearing these words from a hero no one alike, is really something. you aint a coward, bro, you are human, and every human break at some point, its just nature, but you held it through all that way, now that is called dedication. rest in peace to your brothers who lost their life that day
the taliban literally filmed the ambush so there is iron clad evidence against the US narrative of it being a huge attack and what this coward is making up
Whats worst is people who think he is lying. If he is a coward why did he go to Iraq straight after. People are pathetic same way they call Chris Kyle a murderer saying he shot looters which I don't think is even anything confirmed and if it was, why are people making a big deal about people who are stealing people stuff after a hurricane those people deserve to get shot
@@eznf98 The many conflicting statements by other members of the rescue mission and in official reports on the ORW mission do raise questions. You know.... how many stories like these are untold? Think of the hundreds, if not thusands of alike stories. Everyday these guys go out fearless to eradicate evil, gather intel, or other important missions. Some we hear about, some we don't. Some stories will never be told... ALL soldiers fight, but special forces often fight in secrecy. They fight for our freedom, safty, and way of life. They give the ultimate sacrifice, so I can sit on my fat ass and watch tv, sleep a night, goto work, have a life... I am Danish (Denmark), and though I've never served - I know many that have. We have danish forces fighting alongside Americans and british, out there together. I never had the pleasure and privilege to meet a Seal, ranger, delta, or a regular american soldier. But you have my deepest sympathy for your losses and my outmost grattitude for keeping me alive. As they say.. words cannot express... but.. Thank you! God bless...
Its been made clear that Luttrell didn't actually "fall" from anything. He apparently hid beneath a tree and covered his ears as his team mates called for him. Then, when he could no longer take the yelling of his name, he legged it as hard and fast as he could away from the direct action, landing him in that village He found with all his magazines full in that village by the rangers. He didn’t fire a single shot during the entire fight.
On the AntiHero Podcast, Eric Deming states that Marcus pretty much exaggerated everything (although I am sure the man went through a lot). Also, apparently there's drone footage of him running away as soon as the fight started. Theres a FOIA request for it, I hope whenever it comes out we get to see the truth. RIP to the 3 warriors who died and wish Marcus gets what he deserves based on the truth, if he was a "hero" or a coward.
I READABOUT THE MAN WHO SAVE MARCUS LUTRELL. HIS NAME IS MUHAMMED GULAB. READ THE BOOK OF MOHAMMED GULAB. I FOUND OUT THAT MARCUS STILL HAVE MANY MAGAZINES MEANING HE RUN AND LEFT HIS COMRADE. STORY TELLING OF MARCUS LUTRELL WAS A LIE OR NOT?
I was almost beaten to death once. I found my breaking point when I had 13 fractures in my head. I knew I was going to die. Nothing I had to do was like what Marcus and his brothers have been through. I expected to die during that attack but I didn't have to think about staying alive to help the people I cared about the most in the world. I've been the first person on two deadly accidents and it's awful to see someone die. To see someone's wife drive up, and see the expression on the medics face and to hear her scream. It's awful. I can tell Marcus has dealt with something so much more. Something we ask our best to deal with and something that it so heavy, it is beyond words. I work in San Diego and we have programs to bring special operators into commercial real estate. They tend to lose interest pretty quick as this stuff is incredibly boring compared to what they're used to. That being said, if you would like any type of mentoring regarding the financial services world, I'd be happy to spend my time with you. Michael.

The biggest mistake with this mission is that no one kept an eye on the assets and their movement had they been watching they would have know the enemy is on the move and rapidly gaining ground on our troops this was a big mistake.
Just because your tough and can make it through BUDs doesn't mean you won't break down when you hear your best friend dying. I believe that Marcus is a great guy and he did the best he could, but in all honesty, nothing can prepare you for war.
conor27 There's a difference between ordinary war and what they went trough. They were four guys in the middle of nowhere. In a normal situation, you've got 10's if not 100's of armed buddies beside ya.

Marcus you are far from a coward. I know you have your code and you put your gun down. My God you had your best friend dying calling for you. You are stronger than any man. Forgive yourself, you went on after that. God bless you. . .
Cheryl Farley, that's right. He went on to be able to convey to the American people just how much our men in uniform love our country. It could have been any one of them, but God chose Marcus to live and what he did was make it out of their to survive. Michael would hold No ill will towards him. Marcus, you guys all loved each other with All of your hearts and I believe you all did your very best to survive. Now Michael and Danny and Matt would want for you to live for them.
Cheryl Farley Marcus may not be a coward but he’s a major liar
Lucas Oldaker Yes sir. The whole story is bs. The main inconsistency lies in his appearance. Remember all the things he said happened to his face when he fell off a cliff; how he bit off half his tongue, how his nose was shoved in , how he had facial lacerations. All lies. Read this article. Look at the July 2005 photo of him in Golabs village. Not a scratch on his face. He largely exaggerated the number of taliban and so much more. Look at this and LMK what u think. ijr.com/lone-survivor-marcus-luttrell-is-being-challenged-over-his-story-by-the-afghan-who-saved-his-life/
@Lucas Oldaker Marcus promised to bring the afgahni guy over to America but it was a group of lawyers and doctors who got together to save him and his family after hearing what he had done. Marcus was ignoring the guy after making the movie.
He is a coward
Marcus you will never be a coward in my eyes, I went through RANGER school and I’ll never be half the man that you are. I salute you sir.
Thanks for your service !
❤🇺🇸❤
I wish my mind was half as strong as this guy's. He's got to be one of the toughest men alive
Who in their right mind would dislike a video like this?
Fucks who think that he is a coward
Europeans.
There a dick
people whom are most likely jealous because they know they would never equal a quarter of th man luttrell is
i dislike it because he come to my country to kill innocent people
Read his book, " Lone Survivor" He is one of 20 who who lived.....
You mean died?
@@jimallen7148 He was HALO dropped deep behind enemy lines with 3 other people...in a 4 man SEAL team. Things went south and 16 other SEALS came to rescue.
Out of 20 SEALs who went in on the mission that day....he was the only one who survived. It was the biggest loss of Special Operations in pretty much the history of US Special Operations....
@@DJUwU I know the whole story..it has fascinated me for years. I read what you said wrong..only thing that is inaccurate with what you said was that they didnt do a halo. They fast roped in at 10k feet and had to walk up to 12k where they came across the goat herders..however, they later found out that it wasnt the goat herders that told the taliban. They in fact heard the helicopter and easily tracked there location.
Incredible
@@jimallen7148 no he is one of the ones who lived
In the total context of events he is no coward. His nervous system was overloaded from seeing his team mates die, and his injuries, and to hear his dying best friend scream his name over and over was what caused him to cover his ears, as he could do nothing about it anyway. He could not have done anything about his death as by that time Murphy was already chest shot twice and taking more fire. Putting his rifle down and covering his ears is all he could do to block out the scenario. Any brain when overloaded with previous events, would do the same. You did your job, and more, operator Luttrell. Salute....
He's not a coward, he's a hero 🌹💙
He’s a coward. Heroes don’t hide and cover their ears pretending their comrades aren’t dying
It's intense hearing a man describe himself as a coward and you can see in his eyes that he is haunted by that experience. Definitely not a coward, far from it! A true warrior. Respect from Scotland 🏴🇬🇧
No you are not a coward, there was nothing you could do!
Benjamin Gazdik
He's suffering from post war traumatic syndrome. He's gone from blaming the commander to himself and who knows what then back to himself.
His friend up there was helpless. There was no way for him to get up there and help him.
Let's not forget he picked up one of his brothers and carried him. While had multiple broken bones and wounds.
THEKINGOFBULLDOGS
I bet Benjamin's a brave soldier who saw combat a hundred times. He's brave.
Benjamin Gazdik
The man who calls the shots in his platoon just took two rounds in the chest and his dead, he's begging Luttrell to save him, a fully equipped hospital couldn't save the guy.
He's not a coward but he can't help but to blame himself
Damn, that must have took a lot for him to say that. Respect.
I've heard a different story about this lately...
You can see the pain in his eyes when he said "i broke right there.i quit right there".
This man is NOT a coward. Nothing but immense respect for him.
Fighting for you
irony right there
Your absolutely right, id sacrifice my life for any one of my Marine brothers because i know they wouldnt let my death be in vain, all these people on here judging him have no clue what its like or even means to defend one of your brothers
U man shut up I only thank God
So you don't thank your family, wife, kids? I understand about God and I agree, You should be thankful for God, But I'm thankful for my family, and the military, Men and Women who are sacrificing their lives for us. That's something to be thankful for
Jd villa America isn't a free country, so it seems like the Marines are wasting their time.
He needed to say it. Lord Jesus Christ, please give him peace, Amen
If this man's a coward then there's no such thing as bravery
ikr, Some peopel in the comments were calling him a coward.
I served in Ramadi, and other places in Al Anbar Iraq. Never did a tour in Afghanistan, but those who served in either of those operations put it all on the line. As a Marine Sergeant I have nothing, but the upmost respected those men like Lutrell that take it a step further into the special forces. Anyone in the Western world that has throws insults to this man is no man at all. I was lucky, and served with a big unit. 4 men facing hundreds of Taliban forces. I dare any of you to even try. God bless all the SEAL’s lost on that tragic mission. Semper Fidelis.
This man is amazing. He can say what he wants. It's his right. I say he has done more heroic acts in 10 mins than 1000 men do in a lifetime. It's men like this that make me proud to be a free America. Thank you to all the service men out there
The part that really touched me about this story was the village who saved him. And they fought for this man, putting their own lives at risk because of an ancient code, and didn't let him die. That's something I can respect
Unbelievable that is no words at all there’s nothing in the dictionary that can describe how amazing that is omg unbelievable!!!!
called belief,honor,integrity,courage.
Marcus is a mans man. He wasn't a coward. He had a moment, then he picked his gun up and kept going forward. He won't see this comment, but in my humble opinion, this man and coward should never be uttered in the same sentence.
J morgan Agreed!!!
Agreed he shouldn't even think like that there was nothing he could have done if would have tried to save him he would have been out numbered and he would have been in the position as the other guy and been dead
Actually he is the leader of cowards and a pathetic liar
11 mags, not one shot fired.
@@BrockTheTrainer That op was heading for a failure before it even began due to how badly it was planned. Returning with 11 full mags and writing those books on top of it...
Wow, Seals are amazing people. But Luttrell is no coward, he was certainly broken in two when he heard Murph call his name. Marcus couldn't have done a thing to save Mike. I love Marcus his honesty cuts right through. Having said that, Marcus my dear Brother in Arms your no coward buddy.
John Thomas Amen
John Thomas as a
Marcus Luttrel showed great humility and leadership, incredible man as far as I’m concerned.
All special forces operators are tough people mentally numb to do the job at hand but you can see this navy seal is a broken man and I hope he lives a pleasant life.
All these men are great people they fought and died for our freedom this is the definition of heroes god bless them all
Right
i agree
Exactly
Brum Tastic your countrie has no reason to be there! your freedom!
They died for greed and power not our freedom.
He’s right. He’s a coward who profited of this friends deaths.
Marcus you’ve done the best you can do, forgive yourself if you haven’t for anything you condemn yourself with. Your just a man, but a hard brave man that I’m proud of as an American. Thank you
Marcus and the SEAL Teams are all heroes - the book and movie are both great. Thoughts and prayers to the families.
I don't care what others think of America. A country that puts her sons and daughters to fight against the evils of the world earns more than my respect.
Pure honesty
Exactly!
I just want to see or read a complete description with real facts not Hollywood facts, the best stories are true stories.
joe Doe dude there were 50 talis they killed 30 Murphy gave him his ammunition
@@Make-Asylums-Great-Again To be completely fair they were outnumbered and outgunned and ultimately cornered with no where to go but down the hill. Unfortunately, Seals aren't bulletproof. However I have heard the magazine story and I've heard footage of the real firefight and someone had translated that Luttrell had ran off but I'm unsure about this.
Anton Chigurh it never stated 300-400. It’s was between 80-150
Yea that’s not how it happened.
hearing these words from a hero no one alike, is really something.
you aint a coward, bro, you are human, and every human break at some point, its just nature, but you held it through all that way, now that is called dedication.
rest in peace to your brothers who lost their life that day
The other SEALs he served with tell a much different story about what really happened that day.
what is it? They are all dead. its called lone survivor. you are a loser.
the taliban literally filmed the ambush so there is iron clad evidence against the US narrative of it being a huge attack and what this coward is making up
Respect
Interviews like these really help portray just what these guys go through for there country.
No "here" country
Huge respect from the UK, Marcus . You are a hero, not a coward.🇬🇧🇺🇸
A True Warrior not a coward God bless you Marcus & your fallen brother's.
I can't imagine the survivors guilt this guy feels on a daily basis. Respect to you Luttrell
I think him going to Iraq fits in with some stories of people having survivors guilt where maybe he wanted to go out like his fallen brothers, a war based suicide I guess. Whether people think he's a coward or not, you gotta have gigantic balls to do that job.
@@foxmulder8139 also the problem is he might think it was 200 people vs 4 when it was like 50 vs 4. Call him a coward or not I would love 2 see how any of the people who call him it online how they would react in that situation
@@eznf98 Oh yeah, especially in a valley full of echoes that double the sound of gunfire in the vids I've seen of the fight. You'd have to be either a complete psychopath or a robot to go into war and not feel like falling apart at some point. No matter the level of training you get it never prepares for the real thing.
@@eznf98wasn’t it way less than 50?
I haven't cried a tear in over 2 years since my brother was murdered but this video has me balling like a baby. I can't imagine someone yelling my name for me to help them and not being able to... Such intense pain that must be and my heart breaks for Marcus. Words can't describe...
Idk if you can see this because it was 7 years ago but sorry for your loss
It did make you a coward.
Marcus and the the 3 fallen seals! Good job for the world...they will ever be remembered for Life.
If he went up there that day to help Murphy, both of them would have died. He is NO coward. True hero and I respect what he did even today and forever.

I can't believe what he's been through 😢 Makes me cry when I hear him talk about that mission. I wish I could have been there to help them in some way. I hope mr Luttrell finds peace knowing he did 1000 times more than any other human could ever had done.
This man should be more known than any celebrity...
That mans eyes say it all no words necessary
Look at his eyes, its loneliness. Respect for you SIR. GOD BLESS
Thank you for taking the time to say this.
Its been made clear that Luttrell didn't actually "fall" from anything. He apparently hid beneath a tree and covered his ears as his team mates called for him. Then, when he could no longer take the yelling of his name, he legged it as hard and fast as he could away from the direct action, landing him in that village
He found with all his magazines full in that village by the rangers. He didn’t fire a single shot during the entire fight.
Yes it's sad how far he will go to lie. I have all the real footage on my channel that tells a much different story then what he claims.
Always appreciate those who serve Thank you for your Service
I READABOUT THE MAN WHO SAVE MARCUS LUTRELL. HIS NAME IS MUHAMMED GULAB. READ THE BOOK OF MOHAMMED GULAB. I FOUND OUT THAT MARCUS STILL HAVE MANY MAGAZINES
MEANING HE RUN AND LEFT HIS COMRADE. STORY TELLING OF MARCUS LUTRELL WAS A LIE OR NOT?
Like all of them
I was almost beaten to death once.
Michael.
Damn man who did that to you?
2:42 “most of the time we don’t know when we’re going to die, they just shut our light off, it’s a weird feeling when you know the reaper’s at the door” that gave me goosebumps and also got a little teary-eyed Thank all men and Women for their services but most of all their sacrifice, I can’t imagine some of the things they have seen that they don’t talk about
Something left this man that day.. you can hear it in the way he talks and see it in the way he looks at you
His eyes and expression had told the extra ordinary experience that he faced.
2:43 it’s a weird feeling when you know the reaper is at the door 🚪
Just finished his book..
Respect!!!!
Everything else...Words in the wind...
Coward? Why? C´Mon...
He ran away. the first 3 fought. Marcus left

Damn, I felt so sad for this guy when he said he was a coward.
The biggest mistake with this mission is that no one kept an eye on the assets and their movement had they been watching they would have know the enemy is on the move and rapidly gaining ground on our troops this was a big mistake.
Dmn hearing your friend calling for help and nothing u can do to help just cover your ears brother. 💯
I actually saw the movie before this, this is actually insane realizing that this was more intense then I though much respect
Anyone who had went through BUDs is never a coward
Just because your tough and can make it through BUDs doesn't mean you won't break down when you hear your best friend dying. I believe that Marcus is a great guy and he did the best he could, but in all honesty, nothing can prepare you for war.
conor27 There's a difference between ordinary war and what they went trough. They were four guys in the middle of nowhere. In a normal situation, you've got 10's if not 100's of armed buddies beside ya.
Although I don't agree w/ something's we do but I can't wait to serve this beautiful country of ours.
The reason our country is free and as great as it is.

Marcus used to work for my grandfather you see him every once in a while around here
I remember watching lone survivor and what an amazing film , I feel for this man you can see he's struggling coming to terms with what happened out there
isn't it amazing how a man can go through this and still come out and say hes a coward?
Omg just look into his eyes he’s a true hero
For admitting that makes him no coward
Well that’s not the whole story. When he was extracted he had all of his ammo on him he hadn’t spent any magazines. Pred satellite shows him running after the first firefight, he also said there were 150-200 taliban while the satellite says there was only 15-20
“They just shut the lights out on us “ sheesh I can’t imagine being in a different country in a intense fight hearing my best friends yell my name like wtf that would break so many of us to experience that
