    Ghana was formerly called the Gold Coast. Gold is mined in Obuasi and other areas. Generally speaking each African country has its own mineral wealth and these are usually mined by companies who have received licences by the government to do so.

    It is true that the name Accra was gotten from Ant but the story is when Ga's were coming from Nigeria to Accra, they look like ants coming from the ocean because of many they were. The akans who saw them coming said they look like ants coming from the sea. Hence the akans called them Engrifoo meaning the ant people.

    That whole Cape Coast and Elmina "castle" business needs to be renamed to DUNGEON. It was a dungeon periodT! There is nothing "royal" about torturing and dehumanizing people for 400 years. There is nothing royal about the Europeans' intentions of building it. For the original creators, it should be a place of shame. Call it for what it is, a DUNGEON. IMO the ONLY castle in Ghana is the Manhyia Palace in Kumasi, the seat of the Asantehene.

    This was glossed over: The victims that were held in the dungeons were transported across the Atlantic to America and the West Indies. Our African brothers were complicit and active participants in this trade.

    • @dramaluvamens9313
      @dramaluvamens9313 Год назад

      Complicit? How about the people who were minding the own business who were randomly captured and sold? Their relatives were complicit too right? Who knows, maybe your great great great granddaddy was complicit. Why such a simplistic view? If you get caught up in a gang warfare are you complicit? The vast majority of Ghanaians we're rather hurt by the slave trade. Only a few actually benefited from it.

    • @PatrickWilliamsI
      @PatrickWilliamsI Год назад +1

      @@dramaluvamens9313 Fact: Africans were captured by Africans and traded to Europeans. There's a reason why it was called the Triangular Slave Trade. No intricacies or nuances or reasons still won't change that fact. That fact on the ground "brought" my foreparents to the West Indies...
