Ghanaians were tweaking over 1000 years before they introduced it to the world. People are doing it now on social media. " check out "Borborbor " dance from the Volta region of Ghana 🇬🇭. Bro! your jaw will drop it the a nice and amazing dance [the tweaking ] is incredible to watch bro !
Yes, family, every hand gesture tells a story, every movement communicate, I used learned what the meaning was, but since I left Ghana over 40years ago, I lost what the movement represents, also the drums do communicate, thanks for shedding light on Ghana, and in Africa in general!
As a African American man, when I was a kid I use to wonder where our rhythm and dance improvisation came from, now as a adult and with youtube I know.
Adowa dance (hand gestures/movements) by the Ashantes are usually performed to tell stories, warnings, what's about to take place in the villages, and what/messages sent through de chief-linguist to deliver to its people especially in de villages or even in some local communities as well.
The colour white symbolizes victory: we wear white for various reasons 1. Parties 2. Naming ceremonies 3. Weddings 4. Some festivals 5. Christmas celebrations
United States of Africa have a beautiful culture and we really love and cherish our culture , Ghana🇬🇭 the Gateway to all beautiful culture of United State of Africa
The white cloth is worn when the deceased is seventy years and above to celebrate having lived an entire life. Rather than a cause for sadness, it is seen as a joyous occasion. The white also, in some cultures, represents resurrection and victory over death. White clothes symbolize the innocence of the new baby, and other bright colors are used to express happiness. This tradition is connected to Ghana's culture because family is essential to people here. White is our celebratory and good luck color, and the idea is when you start with white clothes, the rest of the year will be full of good luck and celebrations. And we wear white clothes for a festive occasions, cleansing rites, and pureness.
White is for the funerals of people who are age 85+. We celebrate their full lives instead of mourning them. We give thanks and praise to God for the gift of their lives! ✝️
Every dance move has a meaning and we also communicate with the drums while dancing. Dance moves are carefully chosen especially in the presence of chiefs and elders.
I'm Ghanaian but I see some similarities between the Frafra dance of Ghana and the Tswana & Zulu traditional dances of South Africa. Any South African here to confirm or otherwise?
Traditionally the Ga tribe has white as its colour. Twins are also expected to wear white mostly as they are considered sacred and highly valued in Ga culture. There’s a traditional Ga festival dedicated to twins.
Borborbor is also in Togo where I’m from and it’s a body workout lol. Nah but it’s really a fun dance and last time I spent hours watching videos on it and listening to the music
The ADOWA/ KETE dance needs to be elaborated on. The video y’all got for it isn’t accurate at all! Adowa is waaay tooo complex than it just being graceful😂😂. The drums communicate with the dancers and the dance communicates to the people… All these dances are great!
In Africa all countries each country we have different types of tribes and these tribes have different types of traditional dances like Uganda where am from we do have many different tribes and types of traditional dancing that even not filmed or recorded on social media not even known internationally but very famous in Uganda also Tanzania. The dances are really good to the point you can wonder 💭 how they do it using their back, hips, 🍑 and waste it’s bad that it’s not recorded for the world to see how black people are naturally talented and being destroyed by the politicians. Thank you guys for showing at least somethings about blacks Big love ❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️
Yes, we wear whites during christening, naming ceremonies, when an older (from 70 yrs & up) dies, they usually dress white & black on the sunday (last day of funeral celebration), New years eve church services, and anytime someone celebrates some type of victory, winning anytime, and other good/positive occasions
The white on late day during funeral is Thanksgiving to the most high that's why we wear white and also some tribe do wear white throughout when the dead person is over 100yrs
The Adowa dance hand gestures are usually done during festivals, durbars, enstoolment of chiefs ans issue warnings in case some folks are reported/rumored to be doing things that are considered unlawful, disgracefull, or barnaric and being warned not to repeat again. And these things have mostly taken place and the traditional kings/queens/chief elders & places are aware of them. Thats when de dancers are taught to show the warnings in damcing to send message to the audience.🫣🤷🏾♂️
Missed a very prominent one. Agbadza performed by the Anlo in the eastern region. Beautiful shoulder movements. Very unique. Ask to be taught it when you get to Ghana.
The Wulormei (High Priests) and Woryei (Priestesses) of the GaDangme (Ga and Dangme) people wear pure white! We also wear white to celebrate births, and for funerals of elderly people (age 85+). Black and white is also used to celebrate the death of elderly people who are aged between 75 years and 84 years old!
They tried to destroy us but with the help of the almighty creator and nature, they couldn’t. Let’s come together and refine our culture both outside Africa and within Africa, we are the children of the earth 🌍🌎🌎🌎🌎🌎
Black & White in the Ashanti Society during the last day of funeral rites (Sunday) is for Thanksgiving. Moreover if Parents loose the first child (not literally the first born) they also wear White.
Wow! The American lady's reaction to the traditional dances shows she has the African vibes in her blood. Can guys watching help to provide her with tuition on African dances. African Dance tutors let's hear from you. Funding will be provided.
There are thousands of traditional dances and even some better dance moves did not make it to the list. The best for me is "simpa dance", it's kind of boboobo but in different styles and moves. Its popular in northern Ghana and some tribes in Togo.
Adowa dance as was said can be easy but very complicated… you can see it and mimic but you may stopped if you’ve not been taught how to dance it properly. You can dance adowa in a way that the meaning of your hand gestures can be insulting to the royals and you may be stopped if you’re not pardoned… it’s the main dance of the Ashantis or Akans in general
Please react on Holiwood Actor Idris elber videon paying visit to Ashanti King in Ghana at Akwasidae festival full of Ashanti Culture at Manhyia Palace Kumasi

U r very wrong sir… Borborbor is Ewe for “go down low”
@@adminbentley5752 so we are educating you. Accept your mistake and move on. You wanted to play the tribal card here and you have been proven wrong.
Kofi Annan isn't a Fanti but Akwamu from the eastern region.
Why is is that his funeral was held in Kumasi and in the central region? Annan is mostly a Fante name but many of his relatives migrated to Kumasi.
Kofi’s father was Fante. His mom hails from Akwamu but they lived in Kumasi.
@@NanaKNOwusu His family is from Akwamu, Fante and Asante. Both his parents were half Fante.
