I've been looking at a kit for a while. I think you've talked into it. I had never considered a Soldano amp because of the cost. This kit sounds great and love the controls
Very cool! You should do it! It was so much fun to do! Which reminds me... I wanted to build a 100 watt version too! 😊 I should make plans for that. Have an awesome day!
Sweeping generalisation but most techs are usually mediocre guitar players, and most stellar guitar players are usually hopeless on the tools. You are gifted in both departments. Im totally inspired by everything you do Jay.
Thanks man! I appreciate you checking it out! I just checked the site and seems like they are taking a break. They will be back though. I would love to build a 100 watt version someday! Have an awesome day!
Great video! Just what i was looking for. Ive got the rosamp 50 watt version halfway done on my kitchen table. Its so awesome to watch your build and look forward to jamming on a great sounding amp. So cool
Jay, I've fallen in love 😍😍. How good it sounds and what power 🤤🤤🤤 . Great job, I love to see how you build guitars and amps. Of course how you play!!!!
Awesome amp build Jay! I just finished a full recap of all the power capacitors in my JCM900 the other day and it sounds even better now! I'm ordering a FuzzDog Deep Vibes Optical Vibe Machine pedal kit here in the next few weeks. I can't wait to try my first diy pedal kit! Have a great weekend Jay!
Great build Jay. The feeling of hearing your heart thru this amp must be phenomenal....question where did you buy those test points they look pretty sturdy? Thank you again for the video been a fan for a long time! Cheers Brother!
Thanks! I really appreciate it. I really enjoyed this build. The test points I think I bought them off eBay or Amazon - I can’t recall as it was a while back. I do remember that they came from China though. I bought a whole batch at the time. Have an awesome day!
Thanks bro! Definitely worth trying a build 😊 it’s a blast to do and you’ll pick up the skills along the way 😊 plus I’m always here for help and advice. Have an amazing day Eamon.
Hey Jay, thanks for this great video!! I'm planning on buying an SLO30 kit. Do you think it has enough headroom for rehearsals/small gigs with a drummer and bassist? Or maybe I should go for a 50W version?
You're welcome. It was so awesome building this one! Great Q about the loudness. Through a 2x12 or 4x12 this is plenty loud and should be fine with a drummer and bassist. Of course the 50 will be louder but marginally - the difference will be around 1db increase in volume. Through a 1x12 speaker it will sound a little quieter because of speaker efficiency, but again its maybe 20% quieter at full volume. What you do get with the higher wattage amps is more clean headroom. But for the overdrive channel you won't notice too much of a difference. I went for this one for the form factor - the chassis is smaller - which worked into fitting it into my amp shelf in the studio. Hope that helps! Have an awesome day!
Excellent that you have the kit! Te external bias is really easy - pin 8 from each of the power tubes to connection points. Then a 1ohm resistor from the connection points to a grounding point. Grounding point then grounded. That will give you a milliamp reading for the bias 😊 If you look up any of the Ceriatone layouts you'll see how its done as well 🙏 Hope that helps! Have an awesome day!
Hey dude, no the Soldano is its own thing. The tone and layout are very different from Fender amps. The channels inside the Soldano actually work in parallel so there is some bleed from clean channel into the overdrive channel. Have an awesome day!
Oh cool! I’d be interested in checking out the mods. I checked on the website but couldn’t see where it was. Could you send me a link? Thanks and have an awesome day.
Really good Q! The Rosamp SLO30 is the same exact circuit as the SLO and also the transformers are just a highly spec'ed (probably higher spec) and it uses 6L6 tubes so it is identical to the SLO tone. SLODrag gets close but is a little different in comparison - the main difference I find is in the thickness of tone which is added by the bigger 6L6 tubes over the 6V6 tubes I have in SLODrag. Hope that helps. Have an awesome day!
Ha! where’s the fun in that? lol! Actually I did almost buy one a couple of times over the last 12 months but I really enjoy the building process so this was WS more appealing. And for the price of a and SLO100 I can probably build all three - the 30, 50 and 100! How cool would that look in my studio 🤔 Have a great day 😊🤟🏽🙏🏽
@@jayguitar Definitely! And thanks for the reply! DIY certainly has it's own charm and your amp does sound amazing. I was fortunate enough to get one of the new BAD SLO 100s and your amp sounds like mine. I've always wanted to build my own amp kit, but I'm an electronics novice and have no idea where to start. I've successfully built a few pedals at least, but they had step by step instructions and most amp kits just give you a schematic to read.
You should do it dude 😊 I started off with pedals too. Kits now come with a really great layout plan rather then just schematic where you have to figure it all out. This kit was so straight forward from the plans. I enjoyed building it 😊
@@jayguitar That's good to know! I'm definitely going to browse rosamp's offerings to see what they have. I'm really interested in building a hot rodded marshall style amp or at least a jcm clone so I can use the hotmod v2 with it.

The amp is awesome , but seriously, the hair and Beard ! We can't compete with that bro !
Thanks man! Very kind of you 😊 🙏 could months to build the amp - couple of years to grow the beard! 😃 It was worth it though! Have an awesome day!
Holy cow, what a tone... very interesting video... namaste 🙏

Very cool about the recap Jeff. Great that its made a difference. The cleaner the power the cleaner the tone becomes 😊 Have an awesome day!

Your wiring is very neat. You would be a great model railroader. I am an 80's 90's player. I think I could do this build. Great video.
Does it come with the wire as well?
Thanks man! I appreciate it. Yes the all the wire is included in the kit as well. Everything you need to build it is in the kit. Have an awesome day 😊
Love watching this stuff 🤘🏻🤘🏻🤘🏻🤘🏻

Btw, where did you get that front grill from? Looks like a mezzabarba!!
Thanks man! I appreciate it. So cool building this and i had wanted to do an SLO for so so long! Have an awesome day!

Hi. I just purchased this kit. Was wondering if you had a schematic/layout for the external bias mod?

Hey Jay,
Would you consider the SLO to be similar in the topology of a Fender Bassman? Or is it really its own thing?

@@jayguitarI added it to the layout and I think schematic? I have to check now lol, but killer job FYI 🤘
Jay - how does this kit sound in comparison to your SLODrag? Which one sounds closer to the real SLO?

OMG Jay....no snakeskin?
😊 No snakeskin - I wanted the amp to tie into my collection and range of amps so the cerused wood finish was perfect 😊 Have a great day!
If it looks like a Soldano, and sounds like a Soldano, then ... Is a 5150! ...wait no, it's a Rect!
You just need to get a Soldano already. lol

How it cost in USA money $$$ ???
Is around $560 without the tubes and $700 with the tubes. Shipping is extra on top of course, Hope that helps. Have a great day!
Thanks 4 comeback and yes that helps , i’ve been contemplating building my own amp , btw I just found your page & I’m digg’n it 🤘🎸🤘
