Masterfully done...real life assassination of Okubo coinciding with fictional events!

The most powerful man in Japan rode in a chariot without any bodyguards. It happened again in 1963.

I had to see this again....after reading about Former Minister Abe's assassination.

When you think about it, he would have died even without Sojiro.

Okubo really did die on that date by assassination, though I can't remember who did it in real history.

Is that movie before Rurouni Kenshin then.... Interesting. But then again if that is True, the name The Last Samurai wouldn't make any sense. Since Kenshin and Shishio are like samurais anyways as well.

In Segodon (2018) the last chapter shows how Okubo dies.

Emperor meiji is the worst should have given much more security to lord okubo and so many wealthy merchants millionaires in japan. Can't reserve an entire train to tokyo , carriages is a useless mode of transportation. Sojiro seta is merciless.

meiji era wasn`t as good as kenshin thought it would be. there were people unconformed, the poberty and misery never went. kenshin should of have executed every member of the meiji by himself because they didn`t fulfill the things they promised. they just become richer and were corrupted by power. shishio was right about the meiji but he should of have die too because shishio is as evil as the meiji government.

I am a very big fan of Samurai X, Rurouni Kenshin. But I never watch the movie because the effects are very disappointing. Hiten Mitsuryugi Ryu should be a god-speed technique that no eyes able to see or counter and the movie doesn't have any special effect. If you want to see how special can make this movie better, go and watch Shinobi: Heart Under Blade and you will find this movie disappointed. How I wish Samurai X movie have the special effect from the movie: Shinobi: Heart Under Blade

I actually didn't mind this about the live action movies. I always got the impression that the movies were trying for a much more "grounded" and "realistic" take on the series and I enjoyed that take. I agree it would have been really cool and nice to see Kenshin in the live action movies move the same way he did in the anime but it was still a good series.

Well that's the thing... Fantastical things exist irl, and "too much realism" in stuff just goes there, and kills that absolutely non naive idea of fantastical things existing in our reality. It's also kind of irritating and dissapointing how many people go in favor of extreme closet Science realism in histories
