Master Plumber since 1984. Nothing wrong with Pro Press fittings. I have used them for 15 years or so on hydronic piping (40° F Chilled and 180° Heating Water) with 30% glycol to domestic water from wells with 6.2 ph (acidic) with no leaks or call backs. Most leaks on most all piping material are caused by poor installation, installation on degraded piping materials or poor joint preparation. I always clean pipe with Scotch Brite Green pads and wipe dust off with clean cloth before joint assembly. Proper insertion is also a must. Insert fully and mark piping with Sharpie, that way if you are assembling multiple joints you have index markings to warn you a fitting backed out. Also, to the creator of this video, on female adapters, press piping into adapter before threading fitting onto male thread because when you crimp the female adapter it slightly pulls female adapter away from male threads. Might get away with it on a couple of fittings on a water heater but you wouldn't if you were installing a hundred on a large hydronic/potable water system.
I repaired a hydronic line last year for the local highschool. It was buried 8’ deep and we did it during school hours. Kids on their lunch break would watch us work. It was pretty cool
I used to have a sediment filter and my water softener with old copper pipe. I did all my piping from the well tank, installed 3 stage whole house filters, reinstalled the water softener up to the water heater with the manual hand crimp, worked great, no leaks
I bought the hand held . It works but you can't get into tight places . And you have to fully extend the adjustable handles . And you have to fully close the crimper fully . And it's still not easy with the handles fully extended.
Thank you for your feedback! The adjustable handles are designed to provide extra leverage, making it easier to crimp securely. Fully extending the handles allows for better force application, ensuring a solid crimp. If you're frequently working in confined spaces, you might want to adjust your approach or explore some of our other products.
On Roger Wakefields channel he tested a manual press tool against a power and the difference was 700lbs difference. 6600lbs held on the manual vs. 7300lbs power tool.
Thank you for sharing this information! It’s always interesting to see comparisons between different tools. While power tools can indeed provide higher force, manual press tools like ours are designed with precision and durability in mind. Many professionals appreciate the control and reliability that manual tools offer, especially in situations where portability and ease of use are crucial. If you have any specific questions or need further details about our crimping tool, feel free to ask!
different brand i think
I issue with the handheld is you’re limited to space. I have enough issues trying to fit the power tool into tight spaces. It would be even harder with the hand tool. This is why Milwaukee is changing to the collar style. If you aren’t aware this is the way larger mega press (gas pipe press fittings) and 2 1/2” plus pro press works. It has a universal head and then a separate collar that goes around the fitting. The only small ones I’ve seen are on RUclips for close quarters but Milwaukee is changing their whole lineup of every size to this way. I think it’s better because you don’t have to constantly swap heads and it’s better for close quarters. Which you need with Milwaukee because they’re the only propress whose head doesn’t rotate.
I bought hand held one from harbor freight works as well . I discovered a leak in an inside wall in the family room it came handy than using torch and risking a fire. The kit came with three connectors from each size
Harbor freight? I didn’t know they sold these. Thanks
I had one of those tools. It wiggles more than the ridgid crimp.
Soldering a thing of the past? Wonder about the longevity of press fittings vs soldering? I think I feel more confident in soldering. But maybe I'm wrong
I have both in my house. I have 50 year old soldered joints and the oldest press fitting is 20 years old.
Generally both last for eternity if made correctly.
Look it up. Viega warrantys full replacement on any of their press fittings for 50 years which is exactly what copper pipe manufactures warranty their pipes. Im ripping out leaky, corroded sweat joints almost every day as a service plumber. And if it's the type of thing like a toilet valve where pressing would fuck the next guy, I use compression fitting (not sharkbite, i dont like sharkbite) but good compression fittings with the ferrule or gasket. Never seen one leak that was installed correctly.
@August-db2lx or you can just solder a brasscraft 1/2 x 3/8 shutoff valve and swap the cartridge later down the road when the homeowner leaves them open and they seize up.
I’d still rather solder. But when I do start running my own work, I’m might consider pro press in some situations.
ohhh the scratch on top of the new water heater!
Oh another loser. See a shrink
Yup i agree u should make sure u show that badd ass beanie u wearing!!!
Does no one solder anymore?
I'll take my battery powered crimp press over manual 100% of the time. Costs more money but requires less labor
I used one and used it on radiators and had no problems
Idk if there’s a hand held one for refrigerant. Water for sure but there’s too much pressure in refrigerant
I’m getting that other one for sure
I thought pro press specifically says not to side load the fittings like that? With the expansion tank hanging like that
I have seen pro press blow off. I all so went to a job that got flooded out due too pro press fittings. Leaks and water damage are expensive. I would just solder. They say the o ring will last 50 years how old was the last o ring you changed out?

DEFINITELY A "BAD BOY" Obviously worth watching the whole video to find it called "BAD BOY" Maybe one day I can be a REAL MAN and make assertions like that with IMPUNITY.. .. WOW, REAL MANHOOD!!!!
See a shrink first
i promise the auto tool is better seeing as you are pumping while trying to keep things plumb.
I understand the appeal of auto tools, but our manual tool offers great control and precision. Plus, it's lightweight and perfect for jobs where you need flexibility. It’s all about finding the right tool for the task.
wait ten years of freezing and thawing is the real test
Does it have multiple heads for different sizes or just one size?
Yes, there are different sizes of heads.
It's the rubber o rings, as long as you do it the says you shouldn't have a problem
I would be more concerned about that soft soldered joint failing, before the crimped fitting broskie.
But it to long the idea is to go into tight space

What a joke, this job has only one crimp using the hand held crimper, while the remaining crimps was the $3000 propress cordless crimper. Are you so afraid that the hand crimper would failed?
Does it leak, stick to the end. Nope. I don't think I will tik tok brain.
Let’s talk about the big NO NO’s. You hard piped a water heater. Noooo. It needs flexible connections so it can be serviced. The amount of fittings/time you used are way more expensive than proper flex lines. You Tube “plumbers” should pass a test before they post videos. You’re not the only one. I watched over 50 videos and only found one good plumber. You also can’t use PEX within 18” of the water heater which you did. But the big PEX NO NO is that small piece you stuck in there. PEX pipe must be a minimum of 4” long or it Voids its warranty. Your work is handy man at best. Definitely not a plumber that follows code or manufactures instructions. I’d take the video down before to many people see this.
Thanks for your feedback! I’ll review the points you mentioned regarding flexible connections and PEX usage to ensure everything is up to code. I appreciate you bringing this to my attention!
If you're going to use pool Plus you might as well use shark bite.
Upside down on the expansion tank my boi
Bullshit
$599 where does he get3k😂
the one for copper pipe is like 2-3k. The one you looking at is for plastic pex not copper, that one is a lot cheaper..
I mean if it leaks and wasn't your fault its a garbage tool
سلام وعليكم مرحبا اريد العمال معكم
I’ve never seen dope over tape …seems like twice the work
Tape is a lubricant and not a sealant. They have different purposes.
Expansion tank goes on the Hot line ,not the cold !!!
Luckily it's after the cold shutoff so it will still work, unless somebody closes the shutoff valve right before the tank. I would have omitted the tank shutoff valve because it's not necessary if you shut off both hot and cold and open the drain before replacing the tank. But the worst thing is the tank is unsupported.
Wrong Einstein!
Another plumber thinking soldering is too hard! Lol. Just wait, and see that in 7 years or less the customer will be calling ya back because of leaking joints.
These joints actually crimp the metal to make the seal O-ring is just an extra layer
@@UKsystemshuh? Silver?
@@skinlab4239 seal
Another bitter incel with No clue, but a huge gob 😂
You haven't seen dope over tape because your not a plumber
Nice job scratching up the water heater, no worries when its not yours.
Good Job at being a bitter loser. See a shrink
Press fitting's are crap!
Press fittings are the industry standard now. How do you get around, on a dinosaur?
Wrong, incel
