    Thank you I have an old drain from 1960 but I think it's kinda the septic tank thing
    But also I was able to clear out a lot
    It does have some maybe mineral or calcification on the sides but not much
    Probably hasn't been cleaned in decades
    So thank you! Saved on having to call a plumber!

    I unclog my drain pipes and sewer pipes with a garden hose run it through an open window connected to your outdoor faucet and put in the drain or sewer pipe start at a low flow and gradually increase the flow of water run it for 10 minutes or more in your drain pipes up to an hour in your sewer pipes this is a great way to prevent a major blockage from happening my father taught me this when I was a boy I have cleaned out slow drain and even some major blockages in the sewer line but that requires feeding the garden hose into the sewer line and keep going as far as you can feed it

    I do this at least once a month when I'm in the shower by sitting on the floor. I have a set of those special tools and even hemostats for pulling out the long hairs that get past my tiny hole strainer. I hate the gunk buildup so use a toothbrush and cleaner to get that cleaned out and on the strainer too, it's easier than a rag or sponge.

    • @frommatorav1
      @frommatorav1 11 месяцев назад +1

      You can do it once a year, if you like. That was months or years of junk he cleaned. My sink tend to clog up and I clean the pipes out with towels every 6 months to a year. My shower, I've only had to clean it out once, since moving in, in 2015. it was about a year and a half ago.

    • @sodotta
      @sodotta 4 месяца назад

      @@frommatorav1 to be fair the frequency of cleaning really depends on the length of ur head hair, how quickly you tend to get dirty/how often you clean, and how big ur pipes are. chances are, u have short hair for it to build up so slowly

    • @frommatorav1
      @frommatorav1 4 месяца назад

      @@sodotta I would agree that there are variables. My current shower has the big pipe, like the one in the video. When we had a narrow pipe, cleaning would have to be done much more frequently, about every 3-6 months.

    So we have a really old shower drain cover and the previous people in the apartment have destroyed the screws so we cannot open the drain and the holes are too smaller for all of the barbed brushes and debris removers I've tried. We also tried a bunch of different volume plungers and they have helped a little but the drain is still draining very slowly.
    Do you have any tips about the best non-invasive or chemical cleaners to unclog blocked drains?

    • @BathNow
      @BathNow  10 месяцев назад

      There are tools like “Speed Out” stripped screw removers that you can use to get the screws out. Otherwise, the best non-invasive chemicals are baking soda and hydrogen peroxide.

    I remove hair and blockage then pour in sodium hydroxide crystals. After one hour pour in a bucketful of water.
    All the showers I know of have a U-tube (=siphon in French) a few inches below the grille so no need to unblock further than that.

    Can you use Liquid Plumber to clear a shower drain?

    • @BathNow
      @BathNow  Год назад

      You can use Liquid Plumber or Draino type products to clear a clog, but I would personally only recommend it as a last resort. Those products contain many harsh chemicals that can damage your plumbing and/or septic tank.
      Those chemicals can disrupt the bacteria in your septic tank that breaks down waste.
      Your drain pipes can become weakened, cracked, or corroded depending on if they are pvc or metal.
      They make a variety of specific products for specific parts of plumbing like toilets vs sinks, etc. Supposedly if you use the correct variety, they claim it won’t harm plumbing. But it’s ultimately up to you.

    • @BathNow
      @BathNow  9 месяцев назад

      Sounds like a serious clog. You could try a drain snake. A snake will go very far into the drain if needed, and you can rotate/ram at the blockage to try to move it.

    • @BathNow
      @BathNow  9 месяцев назад

      Also, if it happens to be on the first floor of a crawl space, someone could go under the house and replace part of the drain if the blockage is located.

    Any recommendations for getting sand out of the shower drain, was hand washing a wet suit and now my drains slowly draining 🙏🏾

    • @BathNow
      @BathNow  10 месяцев назад +1

      Only thing i can think of is that maybe a lot of sand is stuck in the bottom of the p-trap. If your bathroom is on the first floor of a home, then i would go underneath and cut out the p-trap and replace it. If it’s on the 2nd floor, you could always cut a hole into the ceiling and fix it there. But if the drain is in a commercial building or in concrete, i’d try shooting high pressure in the drain. They make high pressure toilet plungers that shoot compressed air in the drain. Maybe that would shoot the sand out.

    How long am I’m letting the hot water , baking soda and vinegar sit for ?

    • @BathNow
      @BathNow  7 месяцев назад

      Let it sit for a few minutes. Between 3-5min minimum. But you could repeat this a few times and leave it for much longer if needed. All depends on how bad the blockage is. If the hot water solution is breaking down a blockage, the baking soda & peroxide (or any other drain cleaner solution) will need to eat away at the stuff in there.
