    Scrambler was removed from the website as well, I think it's done.
    Hopefully it gets replaced with a newer flat ride.
    Also, if Superman goes, then Lex Luthor will probably stay. They'll most likely keep the tower but stop running it for superman.
    Also, I think the new coaster that's coming in will be a MACK Stryker. Six Flags doesn't like S&S too much, but they LOVE MACK Rides.

      I know that when Tower of Tower at Dreamworld was removed, the drop tower stayed. But that structure was already the same as the Intamin drop towers. Just with a coaster stuck to the side. Superman/Lex is quite different. I'm not sure the tower would be stable without the part that curves to horizontal. I'm thinking that, of anything, that section would have to stay.

    Going by rumor mill, the Golden Bear coaster will be a Vekoma Flying Motorbike which is from a patent that was filed, but hasn't been built anywhere, thus "first of its kind" in North America. That style would be an awesome terrain coaster. It also makes sense financially that there was probably a package deal done with Flash Vertical Velocity. I'd be down for an Axis coaster though too.
    On another page a SFMM employee said that Supes is getting refurbished (for now), and there are no plans to remove Viper, but Ninja might be on the way out. If so, that's a very large plot of land, especially if they went out to the edge of the park.
    I could see the park getting a package of Zamperla flatrides. One to replace Scrambler (which would make me sad because I love that ride), but also to fill the space at Pistachio Park, and maybe put another flatride down by Goliath where the dirt lot is.
    And Dear SF.. please finish Wonder Woman's station theming and add some theming to the ride itself, maybe Greek pillars or temple parts to create some head choppers or near misses which would make an already fun ride even more exciting.

    Seeing Cedar Fair do all of these ride removals and in such sweeping fashion makes me wonder if they're gearing up for survival mode. In other words, I'm wondering if they're worried about a potential worsening economic conditions within the next few years, be it nationwide or worldwide. They are going to be spending a good chunk of money though, but they are doing every thing they can to chew the fat and improve efficiently and they're doing it at a fast pace.

    • @AmericasCoasterNetwork
      @AmericasCoasterNetwork  2 месяца назад +2

      You might have a point! But it also feels like they will only do this to the legacy Six Flags parks. Given Cedar Fair executives are mostly running the show now. It's a bit hypocritical to modify Top Thrill Dragster but then not do the same for Kingda Ka. Perhaps if it wasn't a nightmare with Zamperla? They should have just sucked it up and went back to Intamin.

    • @wawawis
      @wawawis 2 месяца назад +2

      @@AmericasCoasterNetwork I guess they have been doing the same trimming at their own major parks over the past few years like the removals of Vortex and Firehawk at KI and Wicked Twister at CP. They also left a couple holes at KD that are finally getting filled back in. Carowinds has also seen some removals in recent years. So in many ways, they're probably just doing the same stuff to the Six Flags parks that they have already done to their parks a few years back. If that's the case, than hopefully they will fill the shoes of the old rides they're remove. In Kings Dominion's case, Rapterra is bound to be an excellent coaster, but will it meet or exceed what Volcano was? I'm sure it will be a subject of controversy for years to come.
      I'm still not totally convinced they'll get rid of all of Kingda Kas structure. It looks like it, but they like to throw people off. They used different language with Kingda Ka than they used with Green Lantern or the other adjacent rides.
      Rumor has it that Cedar Point originally wanted to go with Intamin for the reimagination of TTD but turned it down when their proposal called for the removal of Iron Dragon and they didn't want to remove it. Then Zamperla came along with those new trains and a proposal that didn't include touching Iron Dragon.If this is at all true, removing adjascent rides to Kingda Ka would suggest they may be going the Intamin route, but we can only dream.
      I'd like to think that Zamperla has already solved all the issues behind the scenes on and on paper and it's just a matter of physically implementing the changes, but there's no evidence to support that optimism.

    Means absolutely nothing and is complete speculation, but if you look at where the restroom that was removed is in relation to the Superman tower and figure maybe they get rid of Food Etc. and split its offerings into new separate locations, it's a sizable chunk of land they could clear out. Caveat being the employee cafeteria which is the back half of that building.
    But basically, if you removed Superman, the queue building for Lex Luthor, the Daily Planet (which would no longer be applicable) and Food Etc., that's a decent plot of land. And on the backend, they could utilize that path across the top of the hill that goes under Superman as a new route from one side of the park to the other.

    I wish more of SFMM's walkways were broken up with trees & landscaping. Adding shade to MM, particularly during summer, is a necessity. Also, large expanses of barren concrete make sparse attendance more noticeable. However, I've seen vids of very well themed, expensive amusement parks in Dubai & not enough visitors can make any place lose its vibe. But areas like MM's Samurai Summit are inexcusable, whether crowded or not. I also saw a recent vid that noted even after hundreds of millions of $$ were poured into California Adventure by the Disney Co, the improvements weren't necessarily reflected in much higher visitor counts. Still, something's gotta give.

    • @AmericasCoasterNetwork
      @AmericasCoasterNetwork  2 месяца назад

      When Magic Mountain first opened, people were getting heat stroke because the newly planted trees didn't provide enough shade. Fast forward to the 90's and early '00s and trees around the park were big and mature. So much shade all over the park. However, since then, trees are cut down whenever a new coaster is added. The area where Full Throttle is used to be so lush and cool. Especially with the lake for Log Jammer. DC Universe also had a lot of trees before Green Lantern. Then even more were cut down for Wonder Woman. West Coast tsae the removal of trees too. The concept art showed them being replaced with palm trees. But that never happened. Hopefully, under new management, tons of shade producing trees are planted throughout the park. Along with new concrete paths everywhere.

      However, sometimes I see things mishandled not necessarily because of a lack of money, but because folks in charge don't care or are uninterested in what makes something very good or very bad. Disney's California Adventure in 2001 is a major example of that. Yep, its budget was too small, but the judgment of its planners was even smaller.

      It'll be best if they bring the Magic Mountain name back to the forefront(without doning the Six Flags title on the prefix) ...........like Cedar Point

    Still think SFMM was dumb to change the colors of Scream!. Having two blue and orange coasters next to each other is silly.

    Dang I never noticed how much repaint needs to be done in the park. I’m personally okay with Superman going because it takes up a long piece of land so something better with better capacity can fit in it’s place although losing Lex luthor would suck

      That sign was designed probably before you were born. I went to Fontana Junior High School in 1970 and a student Curt LePlante brought in the model prototype that his father designed. Cool to know that is was designed locally by a friends father. By the way Tinker Toys look nothing like those shapes.

      Oh, the sign. I love the shapes. Better than a round pole. Nice story though. Cool you got to see the model.
