I’ve watched this movie three times now because I love Edward Arnold as the blind man and his dog Friday. Great acting. Edward Arnold has always been a big favorite of mine no matter which part he plays in a movie. Thank you for posting his movie. I’ll be watching it again, most likely!
Lots of great character actors of that era and the director is no slouch. The under-appreciated Fred Zinnemann directed High Noon, Oklahoma! (musical), From Here to Eternity, and The Day of the Jackal, to name just four. Thanks TCM for posting this and other enjoyable forgotten classics.
This is a rare film classic. I first saw it on a TV show that specialized in rare films. A blind detective is a gem. On youtube nothing is lost and nothing ever dies.
Great movie! Donna Reed was so beautiful and Ann Harding is GORGEOUS. Donna Reed's character is a real witch for most of the movie. She was a great actress, and very underrated, I think. imho
Good one! Not often you see Donna Reed being a bad-ass! Loved the card trick...LOL, and the Shepard was amazing, jumping walls, going through windows, opening doors. Also, recognized some standard wrestling moves....nice to see that compared to just blowing people away...hate the fear and violence peddled in current day movies. Bottom line...movies are supposed to be for ENTERTAINMENT
I liked the picture and I like Edward Arnold and his skillful dog. Stanley Ridges as "Hansen" played also a spy in the incomparable "To be or not to be". Thank you.
I can't tell you how many times I've watched this particular movie but I love it more and more each time. You see the man that played the blind man reminds me a lot of an old friend that has passed away his name was Tony any he had so much of the same characteristics the actor that played that part. Tony even look like the actor believe it or not. But for the rest of the movie and the actors and actresses they did a great job tpp. Thanks for putting this movie Up. And in the future I'll probably watch it again there's just some movies you can't get enough of
Apples And Cinder Blocks Your attachment to this particular film could be considered pecular, but the memories of a passed away friend explain it perfectly and arise sympathy for you both.
What a Great Who Dunn it!! I particularly liked Ms.Reed socking the Female playright out! Mr.Arnold's performance was Superb! The German Shepherd,Friday,Was Out of This World!! Acting Was First Rate! ThanksTimeless Classic Movies4 showing this Film!!
I am a subscriber and love this movie and other movies you show. I have watched this particular movie a couple of times now and just love it! Thank you!
i just LOVE this movie! caught it part-way through a couple o' months ago, then missed the beginning tonight😨[on t.v.]. thanx to you, i can enjoy it in its entirety❕ ☮️
I just noticed that Hell in Heaven is in Twice's album, Eyes Wide Open which kinda corresponds to the title of this movie which is another neat reference as well.
I want to🌟 5 🌟star this movie EVERY time I see it. Every respect of it is wonderful. This is real entertainment without being condescending as well. Love Edward Arnold in every role he plays, seeing Donna Reed play this role is unsettling too, and Friday the Wonder Dog?💟 Who doesn't love seeing a great rescuer pet like this? The family dynamic vs workplace is addressed, the jealouslies..well, the writers were terrific. The assistants to the detective dialog -😂. Yep, it's got a bit of everything. 🌟🌟🌟🌟🌟
I am really sorry this wonderful film finished!! The marvellous Edward Arnold; the always entertaining - Allen Jenkins - a very young Barry Nelson..What a lineup!!! Cheers for our canine friend, Friday..(I don't like seeing animals do stunts...especially like those in this movie no matter how exceptional..) I wouldn't mind betting that this might have been a pilot episode with the hopes of a series...Something like The Thin Man!! Just as Apples and Cinder Blocks said...I too will be returning to watch this delightful movie again!! Thank you Timeless Classic Movies!! I'll be Back!!!
MGM did not renew the copyright in time, thus the movie entered the public domain in 1971. The original film elements passed on to Turner Entertainment in 1986, and Warner Bros. 10 years later. A restored version is available on WB's streaming service HBOmax.
I really really enjoyed this one! Hahahaha good one i love the doggo hes the best actor in this movie u know...... doggos r smarter than most humans i know. Cutest big boi ever......😮😊🤗👍😍🤩💚💜❤️😇😎,
I'm sure Friday was very well trained, but I've got to wonder how many takes they had to do before he got it right. Not a bad movie but nothing special, except for the detective being blind.
Ah, just looked-up this excellent film to see if there were others made of the Main Character; there IS another!!! It’s called ‘The Hidden Eye’, by the same Author. …Going to look for it, now!

I'm thanking TWICE's song Hell In Heaven for bringing me here. Gosh, I'm really thankful I found this movie.
I came here after TWICE - Hell in Heaven
Friday & Donna Reed are both class acts. A blind gumshoe w a genius k9 partner would have made a great detective tv series.Love the upload .

Don't forget the bob hope movie he was in nothing but the truth!
That was a brilliant dog. You can see it in his eyes.
Edward Arnold is really great as the blind detective. ! Lot of good actors, especially Friday! Great movie, thanks a lot.
Marca Fragili Edward Arnold is indeed quite impressive in this role.
The daughter is a stupid brat.
Very enjoyable film. Great performances by Edward Arnold, Donna Reed, Ann Harding, and Stephen McNally. Friday was terrific.

Very good little movie...thought "Friday" was the best! Thank you for sharing!!
I love this story, and the acting is excellent; wish it was part of a series!
Thank-You!!
There was a sequel, but it stopped there.
This is a good movie. I love the guide dog, he's a good actor. I'm definitely looking forward to more movies on this channel.
Mantan gets the line of dialog! He was well know as a character actor back in the day!
Friday is such a star in this movie. What a genius. Omg i love that dog 😁
Thanks a lot, it was terrific! Great cast! Amazing dog! I love the blind man!
One of my favorites, especially so b/c I'm a big fan of Ann Harding and Edward Arnold. Thanks so much for sharing!
9TheMajor I don't consider it to be unbelievable or unrealistic. Bosom friends turn into sworn enemies and visa versa. Especially women.
Great movie! Donna Reed was so beautiful and Ann Harding is GORGEOUS. Donna Reed's character is a real witch for most of the movie. She was a great actress, and very underrated, I think. imho
Charlotte Wiggs There are many people who are underrated.

Friday was amazing. He deserved an oscar!
This was so good! The dog Friday was amazing… the blind character was genius. Donna Reed as a mean girl… very much enjoyed!
This was really a fun B&W thanks for uploading it.
Watched this while in bed, hanging out with my three doggies. Just loved this flick. Thanks for the upload.
Did your dogs like friday?😅
I like this flick. The volume should be louder, but at least it has captioning. 💁🏼
I liked the picture and I like Edward Arnold and his skillful dog. Stanley Ridges as "Hansen" played also a spy in the incomparable "To be or not to be". Thank you.
Excellent Film, Cast, and Acting!
Loved this movie

Loved it, expecially the card trick & Friday of course! Thanks!

See Max Carrado mysteries, or rather hear. Awesome blind detective too. There are no handicaps except for the ones we make for ourselves!
This is a really good movie! I enjoyed it a lot. I hope there are more movies about Ducan Maclain and Friday! Thank you!
There was one other, but the name escapes me.

Marty's an amusing art critic at 22:14 when saying, "Some kinda' screwball statue sitting in a hole in the wall -- it stinks".
How about "A reclining tamayta." 🍅🤣🤣🤣!
The most talented dog ever!
Enjoyed movie great acting love Friday❤️

Back when you really had to act if you were gonna pull off a good movie ! 😎📽
I love Milburn Stone in an uncredited role. He is so young. Donna Reed was stunning.

What a dog!!! That's why German sheps are my favorite breed
Catscantrhymenomo I've got a good book about them and their training. It's in English, the book. I want to have such a dog.
@@loyalwarrior3053 everyone needs one these days! 😢
So enjoyed this movie, ty
Ty for ur comments I'm gonna watch it
Enjoyed it immensely
Step mother reminds me of the beautiful Helen Hunt. I hate Donna's character, lol. "Paul, let's stay in at your apartment"..... SLAP!!
I loved Friday❤
I'm sure Friday was very well trained, but I've got to wonder how many takes they had to do before he got it right. Not a bad movie but nothing special, except for the detective being blind.
